Have they been on Octonauts?: No
Tripod fish pelvic and caudal fins. They perch on top of these whilst waiting for prey to pass by. This is how they got their name, as it appears like the fish is on top of a tripod. The fins can grow to be around 1m in length, whilst the main body of the fish is around 30cm. They can usually be found between 900-4,700m deep. They eat small planktonic crustaceans and zooplankton. Tripod fish are primarily a solitary species that will remain by the ocean floor for most of their adult lives.
