GAY TEST: put some of your blood into this petri dish and I'll expose it to a hot needle. I lied this has nothing to do with your sexuality I'm trying to find out if you're the Thing

I have to hand it to Donald Trump, I didn’t think the sequel to the 1932 Great Emu War would be a trade war against the penguin nation but he truly continues to be an innovator in the stupidity industry

Press F for my fingers please, I did this all on a phone...

And I'm only 60% of the way through... Note the fact Liuyin is not wearing any jewellery...

Holy Molly...

Women can write m/m. Men can write f/f. Asexuals can write filthy smut. Lesbians and gay men can write m/f. It's all arbitrary anyway. Who give a shit.

"Oh but they don't have an experience of-" I don't have any experience committing or solving murders either but that's still mostly what I read and write about.

Dudes healthcare is so fake. My ADHD meds are $940 without insurance. But they gave me a website of "coupons" which straight up looks like a scam website, and I got it today for $60! Just a coupon from a random website and it was $900 cheaper. America, I am confusion!! America explain!!

For all my uninsured judys out there it's for Walgreens only: walgreens.rxsense.com

as a pharmacy technician i can share with you some websites that give you those "coupons" for your meds!

goodrx is the most well known one, but if i'm trying to find the cheapest price for a patient i compare it to scriptcycle, and use whichever is offering the best price. you just type in the medication (PLEASE make sure you're getting the right drug, dosage, and quantity) and your zip code and they will spit out some offers for you

some pharmacies may have their own discount card to compare to as well!

if you are getting a name brand medication, you can also look at the manufacturer's website to see if they offer any evouchers for you to use too

good luck out there 👍

My favourite alternative news resources for staying informed:

  • Garbage Day — As an internet user, you are affected by the state of the internet — I’ve long read this newsletter for its analysis of culture through the lens of internet ephemera, but in recent weeks Garbage Day has also become one of the very best sources of breaking news and analysis about the ongoing coup. Even if you subscribe to nothing else in this e-mail, you are certain to discover a variety of journalists and news publishers via this publication (many of the independent journalists linked below I originally found via a link in Garbage Day.)
  • 404 Media — As a reader of my work, you are affected by US anti-pornography laws, which limit freedom of sexual expression online — Sam Cole (ex-senior editor for Motherboard) at the independent news publication 404 Media does the best reporting on news related to these topics of any individual journalist I'm aware of. 404 Media is an internet and technology news platform that was co-founded by four journalists: a writer, two senior editors, and the editor-in-chief of Motherboard.
  • What the Fuck Just Happened Today? — As a person who lives in the world right now, you are, unfortunately, affected to some extent by US politics — WTFJHT delivers an extremely lucid, concise, once-per-day summary of US political news.
  • Law Dork — As a person affected to some extent by US politics, it is in your interest to understand US law. Chris Geidner (US Supreme Court expert and ex-BuzzFeed legal editor) is the best source I can recommend for informative, detailed reporting + analysis of, in particular, LGBTQ+ political and legal issues in US news.
  • Erin in the Morning — Erin Reed (trans rights activist and ex-digital director for TheAmerican Independent) is one of the best sources for all news regarding the fight for trans rights in the US; in-depth coverage of the wave of anti-trans legislation and how people are fighting back. Very difficult and vitally important work.
  • Notes on the Crises — Nathan Tankus (economist and self-taught monetary policy expert.) This is a finance-focused publication that has pivoted to full-time coverage of Elon Musk's activities within the treasury. It has been one of the first places to break news of Musk's activities and has been cited in the lawsuits against him.
  • Popular Information — Judd Legum (founder of the now-defunct ThinkProgress.) Highly influential investigative reporting; also publishes the newly-minted Musk Watch, focused on Elon Musk’s activities.
  • Public Notice — Aaron Rupar (ex-Vox journalist.) Notable reporting on the activities of the US right wing for a progressive audience.
  • WIRED — Believe it or not, the tech-focused magazine WIRED has been consistently publishing what is universally considered to be some of the best reporting on all breaking news WRT Elon Musk’s ongoing bureaucratic coup.

I'm just saying, if there's a curse that runs along your family line and you don't tell your kids about it, how the hell are they supposed to go on a quest to stop it?

Tell your children about your medical history.

World map of tradition of removing shoes in home. Green: shoes removed; Blue: shoes not removed.

If you don’t remove your shoes in my house I’ll remove them for you with your feet as collateral damage.

I am 90% sure Baltics are blue here because an American who was involved in making this map also travelled there, came in somewhere with their shoes on - but the Baltics were just too polite to say “Hey what the fuck are you doing” XD

I am the grandchild of refugees. I am part of an ethnic group that was not considered white at the time my family entered the United States and is still not considered white everywhere in the world. I have blood relatives who are literally brown-skinned. While I acknowledge that I look like a bog-standard white woman and therefore am granted certain privileges, please for the love of God stop talking about "the complicity of my ancestors" and "the terrible legacy of my heritage" as though you know anything about me. Please do not forget that the US is a country of immigrants and the person you are scolding likely has a more complicated relationship with ethnicity than your run-of-the-mill WASP.

This kind of thing just reifies race as a biological rather than socially conditional category. Whiteness is not an inherent property of a bloodline. It is entirely possible for me to be white and my grandparents not to have been, because social categories change. Me being white in 2020 doesn't mean that my ancestors had white privilege in any meaningful way.

In 50 years, the concept of whiteness will include people it does not include today. That will not make their ancestors retroactively complicit in white supremacy.

i think what people who have grown up in a carceral system like the US fail to understand is that a ten-year prison sentence is a HARSH sentence. it’s a life destroying sentence. seriously, think about the past decade of your life. think about all the relationships you’ve forged, all the places you’ve lived, all the jobs you’ve had or degrees you’ve earned, all the births and weddings and funerals and growth. now imagine instead you spent that decade in a cage. replace all those experiences with the trauma of what people experience in prison.

ten years is time enough to miss your kid’s whole childhood, to whittle away at every relationship and connection you have outside prison. i think we’re so used to seeing 25-to-life sentences being handed down for even non violent crimes that we don’t really think of the actual sentencing process this way. anything less than a LIFE sentence means someone “got off too easily.” and i wonder what would change with our system if we changed how we viewed that.

Also you basically lose every connection you have and the stigma will *haunt* you the rest of your life. Like even McDonald’s asks about “criminal history”

It’s been two years since I graduated Uni and all my friends I had there no longer live in proximity and I have lost contact with each and every one of them. That is with access to a car, freedom to travel, the Internet, and a phone with texting.

A 5 year prison sentence, even without any of the stigma that makes job hunting nigh impossible, would create such a gap in your resume that you’re basically back to square one looking for entry level jobs just to survive and pay rent, and your entire social network would most likely be non-existent outside of your family, if that. The US “Justice” System is overly punitive, and needs to have a serious look at making widespread sentencing reforms to focus on the rehabilitation of incarcerated people and their successful re-entry into society.
