@ellie-woody I hope you don’t mind if I use your tags as an excuse to ramble about the ship’s lore :]
Etta is based on the “One-Eyed One-Horned Flying Purple People Eater" who in the MvA universe is a intergalactic rockstar that goes to Earth to try to take it over to turn it into a personal party planet. She basically mind controls folks with her music, but B.O.B. is immune due to not having a brain. So B.O.B. is left trying to save everyone but keeps getting distracted while Etta finds the fact that she can’t control him fascinating and allows him to be around her out of amusement. One day while the pair was chatting, B.O.B. mentions that he misses his friends in a solemn manner, which causes Etta to feel guilty by this since she now has a soft spot for him and decides to free his friends, until she gets ganged up on and gets taken back to the base as a prisoner (this is where the before and after looks come into play).
While locked up, Etta keeps making threats of eating the monsters if they don’t free her and is shown to be actually socially stunted since her showy personality begore is mostly an act and is pretty damn clueless about normal interactions with folks. Out of the monsters, Susan keeps trying to befriend Etta, but the alien is very standoff-ish that B.O.B. ends up becoming the emotional support dog to Etta’s nervous cheetah.
Being already familiar with him, Etta accepts his company, but still holds a grudge that he betrayed her. Weirdly enough B.O.B. will say things to her a little flirty at times without much thought while catching Etta (and the others) off guard a lot. But Etta starts to soften up because of him and instead of wanting everyone’s attention, she now only wants his.
