I just rewatched Star Wars: Andor in preparation for Season 2, and I know this sentiment has already been said, but:

Andor is quite possibly one of the greatest Sci-fi drama TV shows of the modern era. It is definitely the best Star Wars has ever been in terms of writing and characters.

The movies did spectacle and fantasy, the animated shows did world building. But Andor, a mature, grounded story, with phenomenal acting, writing, and characters, will forever be a stand out production.

Rogue One ran so that Andor could fly. And boy, it is it beautiful.

Sugarcane (2024, Emily Kassie & Julian Brave Noisecat)

An investigation into abuse and missing children at an Indian residential school sparks a reckoning on the nearby Sugarcane Reserve.

Sugarcane did not win Best Documentary at the Oscars last night but a documentary about Residential Schools, the survivors and the victims and those who came after, is still cause to celebrate and uplift.

Native filmmakers, keep doing the good work. It's hard work. It's brutal. It's heavy. But it's so important and so brave and we will be here for you when your heart is heavy and the tears can't be held back.
