I love personalization. I love stickers on water bottles and on laptops. I love shitty marker drawing on the toes of converse. I love hand embroidered doodles on jeans. I love posters on walls. I love knick knacks on shelves. I love jewelry with goofy charms. I love when people take things and make them theirs.

my mum was googling for an article about why everyone in the lord of the rings film is white (like to be clear she was annoyed by this) and the google ai was apparently like “everybody in the lord of the rings is not white. gandalf is grey.”

I mean, the Orcs are right there.

Long answer: Tolkien wrote The Lord of the Rings to be a legend from English history. The English people were historically White. It makes sense that the story includes primarily White characters and that all the heroes are White.

Short answer: Some stories are only about White people. Fuck you for having a problem with that.

Yeah, he was angry because England lost its myths when it was conquered, so he made some up. Haradrim weren't white though.

They might have used white actors in the films, but they were supposed to represent other peoples of the planet.

The Haradrim were bold, fierce, and grim. They were tall and dark-skinned with black hair and dark eyes, for which they were called Swertings or Swarthy Men. The men of Near Harad were brown-skinned, with black hair and dark eyes, while the men of Far Harad were black-skinned and compared to "half-trolls".[7]

Sauron had conquered their lands, and would have conquered everywhere but for the elves and dwarves - and, ultimately, hobbits.

But there were never many elves or dwarves, so they only inhabited a portion of the lands. Where they were not, it was much easier for him to win.

Most of the Haradrim people was under the dominion of Sauron, worshipping him as a god and fearing his power. But some tribes refused to serve him, becoming followers of the Blue Wizards instead and engaging in magic cults.[1][5]

I think it was an amazing cast.

I just can't imagine anything like this today. Not in the West. Our movie making industry is just a branch of the Democrats.

But for a century, American cinema was so fantastic that people would travel from all across the globe to be a part of it, and the people of the most distant lands would be proud to be a part of it. Australians, New Zealanders, Americans and even Canadians, working side by side, working respectfully to show the works of a straight white male - a very orthodox catholic straight white male!

I mean, Christopher Lee fought in WW2 and met Tolkien, and advised the director on the best ways to kill a man quietly. https://l-o-t-r.tumblr.com/tagged/brad_dourif

And the cast really seemed to care about each other, even twenty years later.

Now Hollywood makes things that are so terrible, the parodies are more entertaining.

Why is everyone in Avatar: The Last Airbender Asian?

Why is everyone in Friday black?

Romans were white btw

“I don’t learn this in school :(“

Hey here’s a question what steps have you taken to increase your education and knowledge since graduating?

12 years is not nearly enough time to teach you everything to know about the world, especially when the starting point is “a says ah” and “1+1=2” and “rain comes from clouds.”

There are people who spend their whole lives in pursuit of knowledge and do not run out of stuff to learn. If you want to be well-informed and knowledgeable as an adult you have to actually make your continued education a priority. The library is free, thousands on online resources are accessible to all, and somewhere near you is an affordable museum or culture center or zoo or art display that can give you information you didn’t know.
