Meet Our Team

Hi, I'm Amelia. I created EH! You will see me with my hands in a little of everything we do here for the project, from organization to blog management to Discord and so on. I have a number of original legends in the archive, but my big two of Goddess of Secrecy and Mark of a Hero.

Void ( @the--voided )

Hello, all. I go by the Nameless or Void, whichever is easier for you. I am one of the Discord managers for Expanding Hyrule. As such, I do hope to get to assist in building this community into a wonderful safe place for all of us Zelda fanatics! My original legends work is Void's Grasp.

Karama ( @karama9 )

Hi! Karama9 here. I'm going to be helping out with the Expanding Hyrule blog on tumblr and some of the events, as well as some data management! This community keeps getting bigger and better, I'm glad for a chance to help any way I can! My original legends works are All That Hurts Us, Hero, and No More.
Hey! I'm Austin/Aus, and I'm hoping to help the EH community where I can! I'll be helping with discord management, art assets, and event planning.

FAQs

What is the "Original Legends" tag?

Original Legends is a tag for fan creations in the LoZ community who are telling stories about Hyrules thus unseen. So, not based on any particular game but on the franchise as a whole. Generally, the current definition of Original Legends go-eth thusly:

Stories following original Links, Zeldas, and/or Ganons in tales that could be their own games. Those aren't limited to adventure or fantasy stories, but they do need to be original stories for their cast.

Are there any exceptions to works you will include?

There are currently three exceptions to Original Legends works we'll include in the archive:

  • Links Meets (unless it is entirely Original Legends)
  • Immediate sequels/prequels (Looking for about a 100 year/generational gap between characters)
  • "Coffee shop" AUs (Works that are Original Legends by nature of how severe the genre changes it, but still use existing cast)

These exceptions are in place until Original Legends is a better established tag and may be removed in the future.

Are there limits on genre? Nope! Any genre or AU so long as it's a new story.

Do you accept submissions?

Absolutely! This helps a whole ton. You can send them in via the blog's ask and submission box or by hopping on the EH Discord.

What is Expanding Hyrule's stance on AI?

The archive will not include work that uses AI in any capacity.

*While the collection is open for works, if you're not comfortable with adding your work specifically to the collection (valid) but would like it bookmarked, you can @ this blog, @amelias-hart, or @amelias-calamity-quintet to get it added that way instead.

Teaser Thursday (I found an Araki snippet I thought I had already shared - whoops!) For those of you awaiting the next chapter. And many, many thanks to @amelias-hart for this very pretty cover art!!

Chapter Sixteen - Echos of a Siren's Wisdom (3k words left to write for this one 😭) Anyway, enjoy some Captain Araki daydreaming...

It’s bad enough he’s had the princess breathing down his neck (and not in a good way) these past few days, now he has to deal with Impa’s sharp looks. And the nymph. He can’t forget about her no matter how hard he tries. She’s back, pleading for him to do the right thing, and be the master she knows he truly is deep down inside. His scowl deepens. Who would have thought he’d rue the day he’s surrounded by three beautiful women? Not that it matters, since there’s only one who has captivated him since the moment he first laid eyes on her.

His gaze trails to Zelda standing just a few feet from Impa. She’s woven her hair in a practical braid–its plaits shimmer in the sunlight, contrasting with the dark blue of her vest. How he’d love to spend a day alone with her on a deserted beach somewhere. He’d count all the varied shades of blonde strands that combine on that lovely head of hers to make the finest color of gold he’s ever seen. Maybe if he asks nicely when they reach their next port of call, she’ll agree to another outing.

He might as well jump overboard and try his luck with the tentalus. Even if she said yes, there’d be so many strings attached, Link would find himself tangled up in knots quicker than a jailbird sings. She’d no doubt tell him she’d be happy to accompany him, after he saves Hyrule.

Synopsis: Zelda (granddaughter of spirit tracks!zelink) is framed for the murder of the king, she manages to escape castle town just for a huge bounty to be placed on her head, she is wanted DEAD or ALIVE Link, a bounty hunter who only takes "wanted: alive" jobs, stumbles upon Zelda and catches her. Link uses a magical item in the form of a chain to catch criminals, and thus chains himself to Zelda so he can bring her to justice. Zelda manages to convince him to help her out by offering double the Bounty on her head if he does (and they're successful) Link who's desperate for money to support his family, reluctantly agrees to help her find the truth behind her father's murder. However, when he's about to unchain them, he finds out the magic key he used to lock the chain is missing, they're now stuck to each other until the key is found or they find another way to unlock their shackles.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Chained Truths is a very fun and silly concept. It does have its moments for potential somber situations. Either way I eat any content for Key & Chain right up! They are such fun and good looking takes on Zelda & Link and I'm always glad to learn more abour them. Chained Truths has a lot more it can get up to and I'm looking forward to see whatever else these two dorks and maybe even other characters will get into! - SpicyMcBean
Key and Chain are lovely characters who caught my eye as soon as I saw them for the first time! Their designs are eye catching and unique, while still easily being identifiable as “Zelda and Link.” The parts of the story that can be found in the archive are also super captivating! I’m in love with the magic chain idea, and the “ENDGAME” post blew me away. The comment about their names especially hit me in the feels. There’s a lot of passion behind this AU and I’m always excited to see it cross my Tumblr dash. - twist-dg
I'm adoring this series so far! The main duo are so much fun, the tension and comedic charm of them both is just overwhelmingly fantastic. This world expanding is definitely one you should keep an eye on. - amelias-hart

Chapter 36 (A Breath Away From Breaking) of A Voice From the Desert

“And what’s your place?” Zelda stepped forward, bold and unyielding, folding her arms tight across her chest. “To run every time someone gets too close? To hide behind cruelty and call it strength? Is that really who you are? Because it sounds rather pathetic if you ask me.”

“You have no clue who I am,” he hissed, reaching forward, unsure what he would do if he actually touched her.

No one had ever spoken so brazenly to him before. Sands take him, it was as delicious as it was maddening. He wanted to take those soft hips, her whole body, under hand and tongue and teeth, to punish her for speaking out of line – to beg her to keep going.

This vai was going to be the death of him, and it was going to happen soon, when his hate and want of her tore them both apart.

Chaper 36 is now up! Hopefully they both survive it...

PREVIOUS / FIRST ❤️ More pages on my Patreon ❤️ Page 50, 51 & 52 ! And thus, Link will be attending the Festival 🥲 Aaaaaand he'll be wearing his new dress for at least 65 more pages ! 😂 Ganon's pretty proud of himself ☺️

I've decided to do the same formula here that I do with my Patreons: Fewer updates but bigger ones :) Now this one is still quite small, but it marks the end of this small Act in Hytopia. We should have another update around the end of the month! ❤

I've also finished my storyboard contract, so expect a little bit more activity from me around here ☺️

Synopsis: Hyrule is a kingdom plagued with eternal storms by a vengeful mage. A young boy named Link joins a fire spirit and Princess Zelda to save both her father and the kingdom itself, but Link's own motives remain buried in the snow.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The first thing that struck me in The Mage's Lantern is the amazing atmosphere that the author creates at all times. Hyrule, in this story, has been cast into an eternal winter, and the feel of it is constant, from how people take care not to bring snow inside, constantly have to deal with the cold, and from the more general effect it has had on the world, stripping away prosperity and giving a sense of long term survival strategies. From a breathless escape to a a day showing Hyrule's new normal through a seemingly run of the mill family in an ordinary village, to villains that positively ooze malevolence, everything is vivid. The characters, set in this frozen world, are by contrast warm (even fiery in one specific case...), very alive and instantly charming, and I can't wait to see what happens to them next. - Karama9
Familiar characters thrust into a fairytale setting. Thought and care was given to building a nuanced world with its own lore for the reader to discover along with the characters. Link and Zelda, with their courage and wit combined, make a formidable team to save a Hyrule buried beneath The Silver Tempest’s perpetual storm cloud. Plenty of action interspersed between quieter moments keeps the reader engaged and eager to see how it will all turn out. - Mistress Lrigtar
What a fun start, followed through with more diverse exploration of the premise than most projects will tackle a largely single "biome" world with. The characters are adorable and their personalities are great, perfect for bouncing off each other for a quest. I'm looking forward to more of these three as this story continues. - amelias-hart

Behold, Chapter 35‼️ Visions of the past~

[A man stands atop a jagged cliff, gazing upon the towering peak of the true Elden Mountain, its summit lost beyond the clouds. He wears a red tunic and hat, their design suggesting it was a gift from the Goron people. Across his back rests the Master Sword, its pommel lacking the usual glint of a ruby. Around him, three fairies flit through the air, pink, green, and purple, each with their own delicate, uniquely shaped wings.]

[A close up of the character and fairies.]

Chapter 35 of AVFtD

She stole another glance as they exited the museum, her traitorous mind lingering on the sight of him. The robe Ganondorf wore was nothing like his armor. The long, black silk draped around his powerful frame, cinched at the waist with a sash. Sapphires lined its edges like dozens of beautiful stars, accenting the gorgeous headpiece woven into his delightfully messy topknot. There was something so regal about him, a powerful elegance that had her stomach fluttering in ways it absolutely should not be.

---

Zelda continues to struggle with Ganondorf, and tensions are getting them both nowhere. Something's going to break soon -- but first, some reckless experimentation with light magic.

Check out A Voice From the Desert, my way-too-long Zelgan fic that updates every Monday and Thursday!

Uneasy Lies the Chosen of Farore (revised)

Chapter 41: Final Form

The smoke forms in front of him into something roughly man-shaped, with fire red hair and gold eyes. He holds a black sword. Link isn’t sure if it’s the same blade Damian had or not, but in the hands of Demise, it’s awake and present like Link’s own weapon. “I am the Hero of Hyrule,” whispers Link. “I’m ready for you.” Are you, really? “Really.” He flips the sword, anticipating. He means it. The black blade comes down and Link gets the big blue shield up in time to block. The strike is faster and harder than before. He thinks the black sword laughs at him, but that’s not possible, right?
