If the choices are “Do bad things and get yelled at for it” and “Don’t play the game,” I’m gonna not play the game. Guilting/shaming/scolding the audience for what they do when you have provided them literally no other path forward does not make me reflect on my actions and their moral and thematic meaning, it makes me want to commit violence against the developers.
