My thoughts on this:

1. Please, if you are being triggered by certain works, utilize the tools on the app that censor/block certain tags. You curate your own experience.

2. Your coping mechanisms are not always the same as other people’s. It’s unrealistic to think that way. For me, writing/reading noncon and dubcon fics IS a coping mechanism.

3. Of course your trauma matters. So does mine. So does everybody who writes or reads or even blocks these kinds of fics.

Don’t shame me then turn around and tell me not to say something about it.

This is not to diss the author of the original post—I’m just saying that this train of thought is dangerous.

Censorship isn’t going to take away your trauma.

Censorship isn’t going to solve rape culture, either.

Believe it or not, you can be vehemently against rape and sexual assault in real life and still write noncon fics because it’s FICTION.

These characters are not real. You can make them out to be literally whatever you want. If you can’t handle creative differences, then for the love of all things holy, use the tag blockers or get off of Tumblr.

Nobody wants you to be triggered. If it’s taking a toll on your mental health, work on that!

But it’s not up to authors to hold your hand and shield you from all the things you don’t like.

You’re an adult. Help yourself.

I wish that, instead of reacting angrily or feeling attacked by the love many women feel for Love and Deepspace, some men would adopt a more open attitude and use the lessons this game offers to improve the way they treat their partners and women in general.

Love and Deepspace is designed to make us feel loved and to convey what love should feel like. For me (and I know for many others), it has taught me to understand what I truly desire in a relationship and how I want to be treated. Love interests are designed to make us feel valued, prioritized, and deeply loved. They are attentive, respectful, and caring, showing their love without coercion or demands, putting us first, and the evolution of the relationship and its intimacy is built on trust and mutual respect.

Even mechanics like the menstrual cycle representation, which has been criticized so much, are a reflection of the care and empathy that should exist in a healthy relationship. Understanding your partner's stage of the cycle not only allows you to support them more sensitively, but also to show meaningful support during phases like the luteal phase or menstruation itself.

This game isn't about sex or pornography, as many people think, but about love, respect, and genuine affection. It teaches us what true love feels like, what a healthy relationship should be like, and what it means to be authentically loved. There's nothing wrong with this, nor should those of us who enjoy this experience feel ashamed.

You can dislike something without shaming/making fun of ppl who’re excited about it along without contributing to purity culture, misogyny/internalized misogyny, and cringe culture.

Since Day 1 Love and Deepspace has always been for women and or afabs to explore their sexualities in a world where women/afabs seeking out anything sexual(or even romantic)whether it be in fiction or irl is seen as taboo, dirty/filthy/unclean, and or shameful. Especially within parts of Asia.

Men are allowed to get straight up hentai tattoos and no one says anything but whenever women/afabs have crushes on/simp for/selfship with fictional characters and or consumes nsfw content of them then we’ve “gone too far” or, “are so delusional/cringe” and get told that we’re mentally ill as an insult and that we should “go to therapy/get help” because of our “parasocial relationships with fictional characters”(and over a period tracking feature within the game out of all things..)

It’s important now more than ever to have more media like this to be created as to lessen the stigma around female sexuality. ESPECIALLY with everything that’s going on in the US right now. Shaming women and or shaming other female/afab fans for enjoying this stuff only contributes more to the problem. You’re not inherently better than anyone for not being into the type of things others may like.
