I'm gonna be real explicit because some of y'all are dumb as rocks. If we don't pay for their overpriced bullshit, they will have to make it be more reasonably priced bullshit. Do not buy $70-$80 video games. Don't fucking do it. I don't care that you own every Mario kart and Mario party and Zelda game and that's what you base your personality around. You're gonna have an identity crisis for like 2 months and then they'll lower the prices because we all did good and didn't buy them, and then you can have your favorite piece of shit game, ok?
Just a couple of s1 Lu Guang moments that take on new significance on re-watch:
S1 Ep3 - "It represents my trust in you."
I could write an essay about this scene and its implications alone, but so as not to ramble too much, I just want to mention that Lu Guang reacts quite strongly to being told he has been given Cheng Xiaoshi's trust. This trust placed in him is something we know he takes very seriously. The passing on of Cheng Xiaoshi's ability and the tears Lu Guang shed weren't interspersed with the metaphor of passing the ball to him for nothing.
I believe this is the first point in the show we are pretty clearly getting Lu Guang's POV. It's only for a little bit, but this is notably Lu Guang thinking back on their first meeting; he seems to be lost in thought for a moment. That basketball sure looks a bit weighty in that second image, huh?
The, ah, change in hand positioning here is also interesting, given that these shots occur back-to-back. Clearly, basketball means something important to Lu Guang too, but we get little context at this point.
S1 Ep6 - "For a period of time, let's suspend the business."
This is an interesting one. We're shown a flashback to the earthquake episode and their fight at the end. It's clearly from Cheng Xiaoshi's perspective - he even looks directly at where he recalls the fight and aftermath taking place. His gaze follows his flashback self out the door, and this is where it gets interesting.
Cheng Xiaoshi's gaze is still on where he disappeared through the door, and since his self in the flashback had already left the room and therefore could not see what happened after... why did we see Lu Guang's reaction?
It could be that Cheng Xiaoshi filled in the blanks on how his friend reacted after he left, but as I mentioned, it doesn't seem to me like he's looking at Lu Guang here, and I don't think this would be the intent in a scene that is intended to show us Cheng Xiaoshi's feelings on the matter from his own perspective. So, why then, did we, the audience, see this?
That's the interesting part. It's yet another point where we get a glimpse of Lu Guang clearly thinking/feeling... something. But we're completely lacking on context to this point. He looks guilty and upset, which makes sense with what we know up to this point, but oh boy, does it ever take on a different context once we learn what his deal is. It's also a really good hint that we are not solely seeing this story through Cheng Xiaoshi's lens.
S1 Ep 10 - "If you're free, come give us a hand."
Not much to say here other than he quite literally steps backwards into their lives. It's so weirdly deliberate.
Also an interesting contrast with him stepping backwards away from Cheng Xiaoshi and the photo studio in Yingdu arc ep 1, only for Cheng Xiaoshi to reach out and drag him forwards into their lives.
S1 Ep 11 - "To deprive a person of their life is to destroy the happiness of so many more!"
