Staghead Fungus

known for the long cartillaginous barbs it creates, the Staghead fungus is a dangerous fungul infection found around the Albionic and Hohanian regions. it is infectious and can be spread through expelled spores that come from the large growths it mars its victim with. the stalks themselves are actually a highly sensitive sensory organ capable of detecting changes in temperature and air pressure. This is the primary form by which the fungus hunts, with the stalks sensing for sources of heat the afflicted will seek out warm bodies to infect.

Within 4 to 6 days from infection the fungus will be germinating inside the hosts lungs causing a rash to form on the chest and throat. after 10 to 14 days the afflicted will begin experiencing lethargy, extreme inflamation around the throat and eyes and a severe cough. If the afflicted has not recieved care within 20 days they will enter a catatonic state as the fungus spreads through the blood and into the brain. soon after the stalks will reach the top of the throat and begin pushing out of the facial orifices like the nose, mouth and eyes. once the stalks are established the victim will leave its catatonic state and enter a roaming stage where it relentlesly hunts down prey.

though the afflicted are slow moving they are dangerous in numbers and will often attempt to swarm prey. the fungus is highly dangerous but it is limited by its needs, requiring a moist warm environment to keep itself from dying. the afflicted are severely vulnerable to fire and heat.

The only thing that can stop the disease once it has begun is a horrendous procedure in which the victim must inhale eucalyptus oil directly into the lungs for 10 nights.
