@foulfirerebel

A foul tempered, Zuko stan's blog. Hey, Zuko here!

Introduction post

I'm fairly certain I should've made this a long time ago, but here goes! Howdy there, I'm foulfirerebel in my gloriously weird and strange Tumblr. For the record, I'm a cis male (pronouns he/him for the record) disabled (physically), am of mixed ethnicity and race, bisexual, and have started my 30s.

I'm likewise a massive nerd, if one cannot tell. My fandoms have ranged from Black Sails to Pro Wrestling to various flavors of anime. If you can stand the ramblings of mine, you're more than welcome! I mainly post about RWBY, Star Wars, and those sorts of things currently.

If you'd like to get to see what I've written, follow the links. I'm a writer, a Dungeon Master, an avid role-player and sci-fi/science fantasy enthusiast!

Ask me anything and I'll try to answer promptly. If ya'll wanna add on Discord or Skype, don't be afraid to ask.

Oh! I have a Twitch channel! I do mostly console gaming, except when DMing and will try to post a reasonable schedule. It's a pleasure meeting all of you!

Apparently people cannot point out that the increasing prices of commodities is greatly impacted by lack of raising of the minimum wage for decades and that we should direct our anger towards our elected officials without a bunch of dumbfucks going "Oh so you are defending the multibillion dollar corporation". People on the internet can't read I swear to fuck.

The multibillion dollar corporation fucking sucks but it can't be bullied as easily our elected officials can.

They actually purposely put tariffs on penguin Island. It was very necessary for them to start a trade war with the penguins

"We didn't have Bigballs create the tariff list using AI. Please don't put in the newspaper we had Bigballs create the tariff list using AI."

Paul Aguilar, an AIDS activist in San Francisco, has received a letter from the Social Security Administration demanding that he repay about $200,000 in disability benefits he has received.
Aguilar, 61, who is gay, started receiving Social Security disability benefits in 2005, after he was diagnosed with AIDS, he told The Bay Area Reporter.Since 2022, he has been the long-term survivor community liaison for aging services for the San Francisco AIDS Foundation.
“I have worked over the years but faithfully reported my earnings as I was instructed, including being part of California’s ‘working disabled program,’” he said to the Reporter.
Under the California Working Disabled Program, people who meet the federal definition of disability —an AIDS diagnosis qualifies as a disability — and whose net income is 250 percent of the federal poverty level can receive health coverage through Medi-Cal, California’s version of Medicaid.
The letter from the Social Security Administration was dated March 19 and said the payments should have stopped in 2013. It said he had been overpaid by two different amounts — $201,729.10 and $182,177.20 — from January 2014 through February of this year. Aguilar said he didn’t know the reason for the discrepancy. The letter demanded repayment within 30 days but offered an option of partial payment and asked for a reason he couldn’t pay the full amount.
Aguilar averaged $2,200 a month in income last year, he said. The Social Security Administration says disability benefits may cease for a person making $1,550 a month or more. But at times during the period covered by the letter, Aguilar wasn’t working, he said. He didn’t know why the administration chose the dates it did.
“I simply find it hard to believe that they could overlook an overpayment for 13 years,” he told the Reporter. He received no check from Social Security this month, and that creates a hardship, as his monthly rent is $1,200.

Apparently the Democrats won a special election in PA (Lancaster County) for a state Senate seat, in a district that had literally not gone blue at this level since 1889 and which Trump won in 2024 by 15 points.

Which is nice and all, etc etc yadda yadda, but it regretfully impels me to point out that people keeeeeeeep fuckin voting for Republicans, get mad as soon as Republicans do the exact stupid things they have promised to do, and then vote against them barely a few months later. It would be really beneficial for the rest of the country if we could have some goddamn object permanence and/or short-term memory, and this calculation could be made BEFORE you vote the assholes into office in the first place. Lord almighty.

The World maybe be on Fire. But Black People are going to countine thriving like always!

Seeing White people and White Leftists and other non-Black POC pick-me's on social media getting so upset over Black people or Black women doing our thing and simply taking a breather after being FUCKED over during the 2024 election is so freaking funny to me.

Especially from those who refuse to vote for Kamala cause of either " PaleStine" or some other bullshit excuses they try to tell themselves on why they couldn't vote for the Black woman, but are totally okay and cool with a convicted rapist criminal felon D-list celebrity who is also a major bigot.

At this point, I had enough of these performative Rat-fuckers that have shown their true color's towards Black democrats and Black democratic women or black women in general both during and after the election.

Yet, still except us to fight and protest for ya'll when ya'll didn't have our backs.

Ya'll Fuck-up and Fuck around and now it time to deal with the consequences of ya'll in-actions or asinine refusal to take any responsible action.

Now it's time for Black women and other Black people to just enjoy ourselves and take a step back until midterms come around.

As said, get somebody else to protest and do ya'll shit. Ya'll got it! Leave Black people, especially Black women the FUCK alone.

for days now i have been haunted by a single vague image of optimus prime and mace windu literally just standing next to each other.

do i have any broader headcanons about this crossover? no. do i know what these two men are talking to each other about? also no.

i am simply seized by a need to have these two stoic, compassionate, nature-loving, righteous leaders-of-a-doomed-people vibe together.

There was a story in the paper about religious people protesting outside Philadelphia’s ICE headquarters, saying that places of worship should be safe havens for immigrants and not subject to ICE raids. As bad as things are, it’s important to see the everyday people who are sticking up for vulnerable members of their communities.

I also think people are using "nice" when they really mean, let's be honest, "coddling" or "forgiving".

People want sackcloth and ashes, repentance, beseeching, accommodating, and they want liberals to do it because that's just what liberals do. We take the high road. We see the bigger picture. We make the pragmatic choice. We do the work. We turn the other cheek.

Because those poor stupid motherfuckers, they just had to make the wrong choice. They're so without agency or understanding, they just let their silly little bigotries and biases cause them to fuck everyone over, they can't really be responsible for what happened. We just need to swaddle them in blankets and hug them and suck them off and tell them that of course we get it, of course they'll learn, of course we can ameliorate what's going on and soften the blows and lessen the harms so they don't need to fully see the consequences. Consequences are for those who know better, do better, have agency.

After all, they might get angry at us! And they might just go out of their way to make bad choices that aren't really their fault to punish us for not being more understanding and supportive! They can't be responsible!

Whoever wrote that Vanguard message did so with shaking hands, between sobs & swigs of bourbon straight from the bottle.

They're right, though. Now is exactly the wrong time to make dramatic investment moves. Everybody's shit is doing the same thing; unless you need your retirement money in the next twelve months or whatever, you're better off leaving it alone and waiting for the eventual correction. Like, this is not a comforting lie, this is good advice!

Adultier adult here, having had to talk to my retirement management people earlier this week. (I hate it. It's useless. But I told them to divest me from anything that holds TSLA in the portfolio/fund because Elon is an asshole and the company's financials are shit.)

This week has caused about three percent (3%) of my 401(k) to vanish.

And that's okay.

I can't touch that money without a tax penalty (or emergency) until the 2030's. It's not paying for cat food or keeping my electricity on. This is a privilege not everyone enjoys (yet).

If you're in a position to have any kind of investments, don't do anything rash and/or bananas with important chunks of money. (My financial guy gave me this advice, too. I specifically asked about cashing out the whole fucking thing.)

Yes. 100% this.

My qualifications: I worked in banking & mortgage for 10 years & had my Series 6, 63, and insurance licenses. I was qualified to sell mutual funds and annuities.

Obligatory: None of this constitutes specific financial advice. Please consult your financial professional who has an active license for specific advice.

That said, generally speaking, if someone has a 401k or IRAs and other retirement investments and they don't need to access them right now, don't fucking touch it. Don't even look at it. If they don't feel comfortable putting more money into it right now, that's understandable, and they can turn their contributions off (though it might not make sense to do so, depending on their tax bracket - traditional 401k contributions are pre-tax, so putting that money back in their taxable income may just turn that money into income tax payments, and that's not even considering employer matching, which is Free Money).

Shit is wild right now, but that money is not Real Money until you cash it out. All of your losses and gains are Schroedinger's Gains and Losses. Until you open the box - that is, make a withdrawal - those losses aren't realized. And since you will end up with absolutely ridiculous tax penalties if you take money out of retirement accounts early outside of a few specific circumstances, opening the box early is a bad idea.

So, since the losses aren't real until you open the box, and you can't open the box until years from now without getting like half the cat taken by the IRS, don't even think about looking at the box and seeing the predicted percentage of alive cat that you might find inside there.

Another financial professional here. I second all of this.

If you're lucky enough to have a retirement account, the best strategy is always to ride the market waves. Decades of numbers and returns back this up. Don't move or pull your money. Don't stop contributing. Especially if you are many years away from retirement.

Think long term, not short term. In the long run, the stock market still averages returns every year.

A lot of the comments or reactions to Suzanne Lamber, the "Regina George Liberal", seem to be "guys being mean isn't going to help" and to be quite honest, I both don't care, really, and don't really agree. A lot of the time people only get your fucking message if you're mean or blunt now. Niceness is seen as weakness and has been mocked since at least 2015.

I just don't want to bother with being "nice". People made stupid choices and do stupid actions and I'm going to tell them that.

I'm also tired of the implication that if we're not nice to any hypothetical MAGA who regret their votes, it's our fault if they stay fascists. They don't need us being niceys for them to go harass the Republicans they elected to Congress if they actually regret their votes. They can go White Boy Crazy on them without us having to hold their hands and be their besties. They don't need our emotional support to turn their lives around.

WE ALREADY FUCKING TRIED BEING NICE!! FOR TEN YEARS!! TEN. FUCKING. YEARS!!!!

And it gave us shit, they just got crueler and stupider, they rejected or took advantage of our kindness

Hey. Look at me. Please leave yourself a note somewhere you'll see it later that says "it is going to take years if not decades to get the United States government to the level of functionality it had in November of 2024." If we elect a democrat in 2028, we are not going to be up and running by 2032.

Please make sure you have a reminder in your phone reminding you to not look at 2028/32/36 Democratic candidates and say "why are they not promising/delivering Cool Shit?" because you are going to understand that to get Cool Shit we must have competent people running a decently funded government, and we are not going to have that.

We are not getting UBI. We are not getting single payer healthcare. We are not getting free college or free preschool. We are not redistributing wealth on a large scale. We are not getting free internet. We are not getting ranked choice voting.

If we are lucky, we are going to get an IRS that can collect taxes, qualified schoolteachers, research grants, Social Security, and a government that thinks maybe it should be a priority for people around the worlds to not have AIDS, malaria or TB.

To be clear, I don't mean we should forget or take our eyes off the ultimate long-term goals of getting Cool Shit, but to get there, we're gonna have to support things like "half-measures" and "small steps" and "not tearing down people who won't get us all the way there" and "understanding that they are starting from the basement basically because every government institution is being decimated"

The ultimate victory of accelerationism is delaying all the benefits that could have come from incrementalism, because we have to waste that much more time cleaning up after reactionaries.
