As promised, we're bringing you the official prompt list of AI-less Whumptober 2024 today!

We have 31 days of excellent whump prompts, with three prompts per day to pick from, fun themes, and 10 alt prompts to play around with. We hope you enjoy! Additional info + plain text versions of the prompts can be found under the cut.

Duong successfully weaved a 30 meter long cloth, Prepare to sew your own…

Just to make it clear, this gentleman, Duong, made the entire loom by himself.  He made his spinning wheel entirely by himself.  He grew the cotton and spun it entirely by himself…and he made the metal tools entirely by himself.  And when I say he made the metal tools, he dug the ore, he made the smelter, he made the forge, he smelted the bloom (the de-slagged ore), he literally hammered the blades and cut and shaped the wooden handles.  Everything.  By hand.

(His wife will sensibly use a chainsaw, but not only is she less muscular than him, she has a different focus for her channel–farming & selling in the marketplace, along with creating herself a livable off-grid home–than Duong has for his, creating a farm using primitive skills, aka everything from scratch that he can safely manage.)

By the way, with the exception of the generator, wires, and lighting for his home, and until he finishes this cloth, the clothes on his back…he’s pretty much made all the buildings & planted all the trees and food plants, built the giant fish pond, and stocked it with wild-caught and carefully bred fish, and caught wild chickens. (The pigs were bought locally, but come from wild boar stock.)

(Oh, and for those who don’t know, chickens are still living in the wilds of Southeast Asia where they originated, so yes, you can catch & tame genuinely wild chickens in Vietnam!)

You're not alone in being tempted to write this. I'm just in the middle of four different wips.

Moonbows

A moonbow, also known as a lunar rainbow or white rainbow, is a rainbow created by moonlight rather than sunlight. It's formed when light from the moon refracts and reflects off water droplets, like those in rain or mist, creating a visible arc of light in the sky. Moonbows are generally fainter and less colorful than regular rainbows, and they are much rarer due to the need for specific conditions like a full or near-full moon, clear skies, and dark skies.

i know shit about wind waker and even less about fishing but PLEASE. takes your hand. we can't keep believing wind when he presents his hyrule as the idyllic seafarer's paradise. he doesn't know the DIFFERENCE. he's a child of the apocalypse just as much as any of time's successors he;s the heir to a kingdom of ruins!!!! there's no fish in his oceans. there's no life in his seas. his zora evolved into birds to get away from the water. does that not tell you something. the fishpeople learnt to fly. the population of the great sea is so SMALL and yet the fishermen still risk their lives searching for enough meat to feed their families because, as ganondorf says, "they are vast seas... they yield no fish to catch." nobody in the game ever gives link a fishing rod. NO FISHING ROD. in the OCEAN BASED ZELDA GAME. no fish motifs in the architecture no swimming for long periods no diving. wind has been born into a world that is unnaturally barren, and it's all but invisible unless you're trying to actually survive there, because the raw power of ocean remains. the tides rise and fall. the moon shines and the islands are peaceful and everything is dead. wind's timeline & the downfall timeline have a lot more in common than you might think. can you imagine the chain travelling to an ocean in another time and wind thinking he knows what an ocean is like. and he doesn't. these new strange oceans are full of fish, and coral, and strange creatures he's never heard of, turtles and dolphins and whales and seals and jellyfish. sharks and eels and stingrays and yabbies and clams and rockpools full of starfish and crabs and octopi. and this is what the ocean is supposed to be like?? hes a CHILD OF THE APOCALYPSE!!!!!! i want someone to take the awestruck wonder people give the downfall boys about fruit-bearing trees and shove it at wind

Gonna overcomplicate things but hear me out:

Legend and Twilight are alternate universe "twins", and Wind and Hyrule are as well.

In the Child Timeline, Time marries Malon, has a child, and X generations later, Twilight is born.

In the Downfall Timeline, Time dies, but Malon marries someone else, has a child, and X generations later, Legend is born.

They occupy the same "space" in the alternate timelines as each other, as Malon's descendant. Their lives are totally different because of Time and Ganondorf's activities, and even the fact that they have different ancestors, but every so often something comes up where you see the similarities. The talent with animals, the fondness for red-heads (Marin and Fable, Midna), etc. Things beyond just both being a Hero. They even both have the same favorite food.

Meanwhile, in the Adult Timeline, Malon pined for a fairy boy who had been there but was no longer. X generations passed, and Ganondorf returned like he did in the other two timelines, but no Hero emerged, as the Hero's Spirit was no longer in that timeline. The flood happened instead, with no "twin" to Twilight or Legend existing in this timeline. Z generations pass, at least 300 years worth, and Wind is born in a post-apocalyptic world. He assembles the Triforce of Courage and slays Ganondorf. He continues on his quests, saving his Zelda at least once more.

Meanwhile, in the Downfall Timeline, Z generations pass, at least 300 years worth, and Hyrule is born in a post-conquest world. He assembles the Triforce of Wisdom and slays Ganon. He continues on his quests, saving a second Zelda.

They also occupy the same "space" in the timelines as each other. Again, vastly different lives, vastly different genealogies, but occasionally the similarities emerge. Both can command nature, both have magical power. Both are explorers at heart. I also think it would be funny if Wind's favorite food is something bizarre like pickled fish eggs and everyone hates them except Hyrule, who has never had them before but suddenly realizes he finds them delicious when Wind introduces them to him.
