I'm gonna speak my truth.
I like Cami and Klaus more than Caroline and Klaus.
And Cami is SOO over hated. She is genuinely one of my favorite characters.

Klaus holding dying Cami in his arms and immediately telling her he'll follow her wherever she goes eventually despite how terrified he was of dying...
He wanted to kill himself to be with her again. He was never the same after she died and it was so noticeable. And fifteen years later, with most of his relationships broken, not knowing how to raise his own daughter and his brother being suicidal, the moment he had the chance of seeing her again he took it. He loved her the most when it comes to all of his romantic relationships.
The Painting:
Klaus apparently tracked down the artist after the night they met to buy the painting they bonded over. Mind you, this had been quite the trying night for him, and right after he and Cami talked about the artist, he went to talk with Elijah, and then went on with his shenanigans to dethrone Marcel.
But that painting never left his mind, and sometime within the following couple of months (TO 1x02 and the following episodes take place a couple of months after TVD 4x20/TO 1x01), he managed to find the artist and get that painting for himself. Oh, and funny thing is, considering there were only a handful of people watching the painting, I don’t think the work was supposed to be excellent, but it struck a chord with both Cami and Klaus, so he bought it.
Cami hated her actual name but still never minded when Klaus called her Camille because she knew he liked that name.
When he first got her name, he was smiling and pointing out that it’s French, and his smile dropped when she expressed her distaste for the name and asked to be called Cami. And I think every person watching the show has noticed that in the initial months he did call her Cami more, but as they got closer, he started calling her Camille with only a few exceptions.
Speaking of the name, “Camille” means acolyte or helper to the priest, which is fitting considering her uncle’s occupation, but on a larger scale it alludes to the role she plays in the story as the source of purity.
KLAUS MIKAELSON LOVE CONFESSION TO CAMILLE O’CONNELL:
Cami: I’ve lost count of the amount of times you’ve been there for me and everyone you care about. But today you saved someone who doesn’t mean a thing to you. Why? Klaus: Because you wished it. Because what’s important to you is important to me. What makes you happy makes me want to keep you so. What scares you, I want to tear apart. I do not wish to watch you from behind glass, Camille.
“there is beauty in the courage of the fragile fighter. those that persevere, despite all they’ve been through, those who still believe there is good in the world, as dark things we often find we need that light the most.”
still the most beautiful klamille quote from the entire show. klaus not only make this be about him and camille, but also connects it to the audience. to those who are going through something hard and just needed someone to say how brave they are for still holding on despite everything.
Do you remember the Bible verse on Sean’s headstone? “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness does not overcome it.” I was never naive enough to think that I was your light, but there is light in you. All of that anger, that cycle of abuse that Mikael began, you can end it. You have to, so you can be the light for your daughter. For Hope.
