I'll happily coalition with atheists and agnostics of any religious background if we all agree that society should be religiously pluralistic and encourage a variety of religious outlooks including the freedom to abstain from religion entirely.

Getting really tired of antizionists only citing the early Zionists who hated Palestinians, instead of the many who were promoting peace and coexistence.

Not even all early Zionists necessarily wanted a state, and binationalism was a HUGE tendency for a long time.

Turns out, when a group of people repeatedly offer peace and have it thrown back at them with the literal and emphatic insistence that there will only be peace when that group of people are either dead or enslaved, that group of people tend to take the hint after a while... but even then, there's still hope that cooler heads will prevail in the other group.

Exactly. In comparison, the Hamas charter calls for the expulsion of all Jews they deem “non-native”, and seeks to establish a Muslim-run theocracy with a majority Arab population. They explicitly state peace is only possible under Islamic rule and without a Jewish presence in the Jewish homeland.

Their original charter was violently antisemitic and they didn’t make a new one until 2017. The new one swaps “Jews” for “Zionists” and removes some of the blatant references to antisemitic propaganda like the Elders of Zion, but it’s still based on ejecting a group of native people from their homeland. The rhetoric and heart of Hamas is still very, very bigoted and focused on ethnic cleaning.

The main reason there are more Jews than Arabs in Israel isn’t because Israel expelled all the Arabs. There just literally weren’t a lot of people living in the region when Jews began returning. Over the course of 70 years, millions of Jews have moved to the region. That’s why the population of Jews is so high in Israel — even accounting for the 700,000 Arabs who fled during the 1949 war. There is now upwards of 6.2 million Palestinians living in the region.

reading about jewish history is depressing bc it’s like this endless cycle of, “we were doing okay for a bit and even managed to partially integrate, but the political climate changed and we’re once again heavily persecuted if not outright murdered. ce la vie!”

Still genuinely mind boggling even after all of this time that there are people who can, with a straight face, espouse logic like "I'm not antisemitic, I just think that literally half of the planet's Jews are evil and genocidal and deserve to be punished horribly and painfully for this because of the country they live in."

ok not to be that guy but like. labor rights and working class rights can coexist with 24h services and late amenities. its certainly hard to do so without worker exploitation in this political and social environment, it’s not a conflict likely to resolve overnight. but 24h services are important and especially valuable to those of us that are disabled or are on a different circadian rhythm. in fact more professional, health, and government services should be available or at least possible to work on asynchronously (if applicable) during late or odd hours, while workers also get sufficient pay for their labor and proper consistent scheduling. this would be much easier on the workers with night schedules if the entire professional world didn’t grind to a halt at 5pmEST

Meanwhile ........

We have Palestinians in Gaza protesting against Hamas .

Some of these protesters have been executed and others beaten and tortured .

How in the world is protesting for Hamas actually helping Gazans who are protesting against Hamas ?

It makes no sense whatsoever!

There protests that are supposed to be for Palestinians are actually going against Palestinians right now.

They are not helping

You should protest against Hamas if you really care about Palestinians.
