little angel of the grasslands

we had the absolute BEST solstice. i spent all day simmering a veggie beef stew (used the trader joe’s beefless bulgogi it was perfect btw hot tip), i took a wintery walk around the neighborhood, we lit all the candles in the house as soon as it got dark, wrote intentions on bay leaves and burned them on the back deck, served stew over mashed potato and celery root with lots of butter and scallions mixed in, listened to the new sza, i took a bath and we ended the night having sweet romantic sex and then falling into a deep winter slumber holding each other close.

i am just in constant awe of the love that i get to share with jon he is the most special person i’ve ever met and to know him quite literally is to absolutely adore him

i’m not going to get into the wild ride i’ve been on getting dentures in my 30s but i definitely don’t hate my life and i’m not feeling bad about myself so

jon and i found this little sterling ring at a vintage store today that somehow fits my stupidly tiny ring finger perfectly so now i have a proper engagement ring that matches my style AND came from a local business 🥰

i am honestly kind of floored by my part time coworker’s inability to show up for her THREE SHIFTS a week like what the hell is your problem just quit at that point and create a space for someone who will actually come to work to take your place

when she doesn’t come in, i have to do her job (stocking) before i can do my job (buying) and like i know she knows that so like idk i just can’t imagine being that selfish of a person it absolutely blows my mind like…fuck you lmao

terrible day but i am going to go home and write christmas cards to far away friends and make a green bean casserole, roasted sweet potato with miso butter and maybe even some beyond meatballs with lingonberry jam

i’m sorry but i fucking love christmas time and the fact that we got our first real snowfall on the day we had already planned to get our tree made me insufferable

orange/cinnamon/anise/fir simmer pot on the stove, remainder of sweaters pulled out of storage and washed, cutting boards scrubbed with salt and lemon, orange slices dehydrating in the oven, candles burning, christmas flute music on and a glass of red wine ❤️✨

sad i have to stupid work and can’t go with jon to new jersey and be his date to his friend’s wedding but i will take the opportunity of being home alone to string cranberries and make orange slice ornaments and then when he gets home we are going to get our christmas tree this weekend and everything will be FINE

personally i would rather die than ever go back to work but here we are i guess
