I sometimes feel like hori draws Bakugo very much more beautiful in deku's pov. Like he's so beautiful in lots of panels but the beauty in panels in deku's pov is very different. There's something painful about it
I've realized there's this epidemic in shonen fandoms where dudebros making up shit about "fujos sent death threats to the author because their yaoi ship didn't become canon", then they get 100k likes on Twitter with also 10k quotes being misogynist towards fujos. BUT when you ask them for proof they don't have any response :)
You cannot add a romance to a story as an afterthought and expect it to read well. It can be a background thing going on, but there needs to be something happening in the background. If there is no lead up, no connection, no bonding moments then the relationship will seem shallow and unremarkable even if the characters personalities play off of each other well.
Let me also state that everything I said previously has nothing to do with shipping, people are crazy and if there is not lead up, they will create it themselves. (I’m people)
Also I have no greater resentment than of media creators who make these grand stories and get angry when the audience ships the male main character with another male character.
I know it also stems from homophobia, but if they wanted the audience to connect with the relationship between the well done male main character and the 1 dimensional sexy obstacle girl then do the fucking work!
You spent pages on pages (or episodes) building this connection between the main character and his friend, dying for each other, saving each other, saying crazy ass emotional shit to each other. And honestly I get that you want to write a platonic bond sometimes and you are allowed to do that but shipping has always been a driving force in fandom, if you make that relationship important in the story and more interesting that anything that’s canon, then the audience is going to reject those parts of your story.
And let me say, it is not enough to write a 3 dimensional interesting girl character. You have to make the relationship she has with the protagonist interesting as well.
This post is about a variety of stories I’ve read but I’ll tag a couple that bother me. Also this is not to say i dont ship the gay ships. This is moreso a “callout” to creators (who aren’t on this app and I’m not really pissy about it) and the way they are so lazy about writing het ships and then have the gall to get pissy about the fandoms making everything “yaoi”
I opened Twitter and then closed it quickly. Because it's 2025 and ppl still don't know that one hori assistant always randomly draws stuff (sometimes for engagement) and it has nothing to do with the manga. He literally drew river art and tons of bkdk arts before 430 and everyone thought we are gonna get a river talk but we didn't.
Also get that heteronormative narrative away from my face I'm sick and can't stand it. I have to add, it's weird how you see art of Katsuki and a kid and immediately relate it to that het ship. First time I saw it, I thought him, a pro hero, is helping/guiding a random little kid. Then read the comments and saw everyone (even bkdks) related it to sth that wasn't even there. I need Katsuki to be free, the treatment by both the fandom and the author (recently) towards him is so disrespectful 🤦🏻♀️🫠
Can we treat him as an individual character (a hardworking pro hero) instead of sth that would be used to push a bland ship he's not even part of?
Edit: he now has posted an art with pro hero deku and child Katsuki. So the last one must have been pro hero Katsuki and child Izuku. Sth similar to vol 29 cover. Ppl were making dramatic theories for no reason lmao. Like I said he just posts his art, they have nothing to do with predictions of the story (and none of these two arts had anything to do with that het ship in the first place🙄). Anyway, ppl were so annoying for the first art, he had to close his comments for the 2nd art. Notice how no one is making the pro hero deku one about a ship but with pro hero Katsuki, everyone was having predictions about that ship... He deserves better :/
I would read an entire volume about Katsuki's rehabilitation and struggles with his arm and heart post-war, how he worked so hard to regain casual use of his arm, how much he trained after that to be able to use his quirk again while he was wary of his heart and arm (and how much it took him to use his quirk at 'bkg vs AFO' level). In the graduation, he still couldn't use his arm, I wonder how much time it took him to regain control of it. I think his debut as a pro hero must have been so much later than his peers. And does he still kinda have to be careful with using his quirk or his activities in general because of his heart? And maybe his arm? Depicting these challenges would mean so much to his fans who face similar struggles.
Honestly I preferred to have sth personal like this for his ending than whatever we got in the extra.
I was lurking on suki-kira and a lot of ppl were mad under hori's category because apparently deku's and koichi's VAs have talked shit about Katsuki and questioned his popularity in their recent interview? They were saying they were acting like bakugo antis. Does anyone know any details?
If that's true that's so unprofessional :/
You know what would be cool? If Katsuki accepted a quirkless hero as his sidekick.
That person wasn't accepted in hero schools (considering what dai's classmate told him) but they've trained for years on their own to fight without a quirk. Funny thing is that they became a vigilante for a while (nothing too serious) so they have some experiences with fighting. And of course they never mentioned that to dynamight!
When they applied to dynamight agency, it surprised Katsuki to see someone without a quirk willing to be in his team. It has always been people with the strongest quirks that thought they'd fit with gemg dynamight's winning spirit. So he saw this as a challenge and immediately asked them for an interview. Since Katsuki treats everyone equally, at some point during the interview, he asked for a fight and this was one of the rare moments that the person who has filled the sidekick application didn't lose their shit at this request. In fact, they looked excited. And that was enough for Katsuki to think they have passed the first stage of the interview. Anyway, ofc the person lost the fight but Katsuki saw the potential in their fighting/strategy and invited them for the second interview. After a brutal sequence of "interviews" he finally hired them.
I'm adding this to the part one of my sidekick au where I've written about his two other sidekicks before. So by now he has a team of three sidekicks in my head😋 I might elaborate on this quirkless sidekick a bit more in future.
Can that version of hori who wrote deku vs kacchan part 2, write a sequel/spin off/one shot about Katsuki? His ending was seriously so unsatisfying
Why I say that chapter(s)? Because that fight is one of the rare moments in the manga that Katsuki's feelings and vulnerability are actually being validated by the story instead of turning into a gag scene.
Also when all might mentioned he shouldn't have ignored kats' trauma and "he's just a child after all" it was so important to me. Because why do all adults specially aizawa who saw it, ignore his death/torture/humiliation post-war😭 like a tiny panel couldn't hurt anyone lmao
Bkdk finally confess to each other when they're in their early 40s but 5 minutes later, while they're still in their emotional/shocked head space, they get a call from HPSC about a sudden commotion in some part of the city that ended up being bigger than expected. After hours of fighting (a lot of other heros are there as well but these two are in charge of the strongest villain like how they were in heros rising) they ofc bring down the villain BUT their injuries are so bad they know they won't make it. So imagine if they die in each other's arms just hours after they confessed their +20 year old love to each other :')
