Another weekend another Studio Colorido film on Netflix! This one was very good!
Drifting Home (雨を告げる漂流団地, Ame wo Tsugeru Hyōryū Danchi, lit. 'Drifting Apartment that Announces Rain') is a 2022 Japanese animated coming-of-age fantasy adventure comedy-drama film co-written and directed by Hiroyasu Ishida. Produced by Studio Colorido, the film was released simultaneously in Japanese theaters and on Netflix on September 16, 2022.
I watched this tonight on Netflix and definitely would recommend it! It had a lot of little Spirited Away inspirations and felt a little bit like Suzume! “Oni” means a kind of a demon creature in Japanese. The same studio made Penguin Highway, A Whisker Away and Drifting Home also on Netflix!
My Oni Girl 好きでも嫌いなあまのじゃく (translates literally as “i like it but i hate it”) is a 2024 anime fantasy film produced by Studio Colorido and Twin Engine. Directed by Tomotaka Shibayama, the film was released simultaneously in Japanese theaters and on Netflix globally on May 24, 2024.
“The Imaginary” is a new anime film on Netflix from Studio Ponoc (studio founded by former Studio Ghibli members). I had heard mixed reviews but honestly i thought the film was incredible. I think it may be on Netflix worldwide now so check it out and let me know what you think in comments
The Imaginary 屋根裏のラジャー, (Yaneura no Rajā, lit. 'Rudger in the Attic') is a 2023 film directed by Yoshiyuki Momose. Momose is known for his work as key animator on Ghibli films: Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, grave of the fireflies, whisper of the heart, porco Rosso only yesterday and the tale of princess Kaguya.
