@ghostlythinglady

we need more pathetic female characters written by authors who don't hate women

to be clear since this is making the rounds: she has to be an absolute loser in no way that can be pinned on her gender. no "i'm just a girl tee-hee" stuff. straight up just a loser (nondenominational)

addendum: she must be the most important person in the whole narrative

I decided to sit down and concentrate and properly write the list of rules that qualify a character for this role.

  • FIRST LAW: This character must be a woman.
  • SECOND LAW: This character must be a loser, but not in a way that can be pinned on her gender. Misogynistic response from the audience does not disqualify the character.
  • THIRD LAW: If the audience does not enjoy this character, then it becomes impossible to enjoy the show/film/book/game altogether. It is not possible to ignore this character, for better or for worse.
  • FOURTH LAW: The character must make bad decisions, and not just be a victim of poor circumstances outside of her control. The character can also be a victim of poor circumstances outside of her control, but it has to be primarily her personal choices that deem her a loser.

ASA MITAKA FROM CHAINSAWMAN PART 2

asa FUCKING SUCKS and it's great. She ticks all the boxes.

  1. Woman.
  2. The fact she sucks has nothing to do with her gender. She's not stupid, or absentminded, or overly romantic - she is just a complete and utter asshole with negative social skills and a deep hatred of anyone within her eyesight.
  3. She is the protagonist of part 2. If you don't like her, suck it up, we're together for the next 100 chapters.
  4. This woman, as stated above, is a complete ASSHOLE. While she does have some level of bad luck, a lot of what befalls her can be directly traced to something she decides to act on.

I love asa. As of the last few chapters she's been getting less attention in favor of the previous protagonist, but she is AMAZING.

The main reason I adore the prototype fanbase is as follows

You cannot make up anything that seems "too far from the source material" to a prototype fan

This is prototype mother fucker, there is no level of "out there" that is too far for a prototype fan

You can say whatever the fuck you want and stick some dark scifi terminology in there and literally nobody will complain about it

You wanna write a prototype fic but don't wanna stick to the lore? Well in this fandom the lore is the instructions on the back of a popcorn bag that tells you not to use the popcorn button, nobody has ever followed those fucking instructions

That unstable anemic emo twunk cheated his way out of a nuke. Law, reason, and believability went out the window a long time ago in this wild West of a fandom

Reminds me of this one Prototype/MLP crossover I used to read, Oskar OsΓ€ker, that lives rent free in my head just from the sheer amount of absurd things that happen in it. The main character starts a Diamond Dog military dictatorship. Twilight pilots a mech suit. One of the clones from "Too Many Pinkie Pies" Survives and starts writing yuri fanfic about thinly veiled parodies of the main six. A radioactive fire elemental shark shows up for three paragraphs and then never gets mentioned again. The Everfree Forest is sentient and looks like Sovereign from Mass Effect. A changeling gets eaten by a velociraptor. The Statue of Liberty explodes. A bunch of griffins get killed and eaten by a rabbit. The main character transitions in the second part and invents soft core porn. The Redlight Virus was the blood of an elder god harvested by the Knights Templar.

That one about the velociraptor wasn't even a joke, that actually happens.

throughout history, the wealthy and powerful tend to create a set of rules for themselves to follow- european gentry, for example, developed specific rules for speech, dress, eating, manners, etc etc. and to some extent these rules did restrain them, but at the same time, it gave them power- by following these rules, you show your status as someone with power, both to other powerful people, and to those of lower class. certainly there were nobles who chafed under these rules, but the vast majority of them, consciously or subconsciously, accept them as the price for power, even enjoyed performing them as a status symbol. it would be ridiculous to say that the nobility was oppressed by feudialism- they wielded incredible power and freedom to use that power to hurt others, even if they had to play by a handful of rules to do so.

this post is about men.

If trench warfare were made-up, it would be the most on-the-nose anti-war satire ever created. Bunch of young men shooting at each other from inside open graves, slowly rotting even as they fight to stay alive. Every so often, they get to move a few hundred metres to dig a new grave for themselves somewhere else and this is called a victory.

Meanwhile, the commanding officers are eating three meals a day in tents a hundred miles from the front line and patting each other on the back after ordering the deaths of hundreds over a narrow strip of mud and artillery craters.

One weird experience of transitioning is failing at ur assigned gender role the whole time and everyone constantly deriding you for it but then u come out and it's like we lost a beautiful gender conforming warrior today. Must grieve for my wonderful child who pissed me off by being ugly and weird since day 1

Interesting that Fakesaw has the same birth and fetal imagery that Pochita and Makima all have surrounding there powers.

Pochita has his organs hanging from his stomach and wrapping around his neck like a nuchal cord. Fakesaw Man's meat cape looks like a placenta. Makimas mind control chains come from her pelvis and attach to the same part of peoples bodies as an umbilical cord would.

Ok I'm like terrified to step into bigger Fandom analysis but. Just once.

Katana Man is a direct foil to Denji. Both of them are directly affected by the same Yakuza, but they're treated entirely differently by him. Katana Man was given an advantage by his connections, while Denji was given a disadvantage. It directly affects how they percieve the yakuza.

They both lose the father figure closest to them. They both experience the grief. They both never get to acceptance. The difference between how Katana Man handles it and Denji handles it is that Denji blocks it off and is in denial, while Katana Man is stuck on anger.

Another foil is how they treat women. Denji puts women on a pedestal, while Katana Man has misogynistic views. Both of them struggled to view women as equals but in different ways.

I also think a lot of people aren't asking why the fuck Katana Man thinks it's okay to have Denji go to a brothel and that brings me to my next point; sexual trauma. Grooming is a very heavy theme in Chainsaw man. If Katana man thinks it's perfectly normal for a teenager to go to a brothel, what the fuck kinda environment did he grow up in? Additionally, if his view of sex is to be "cheered up", it implies that's one of his few coping mechanisms. He doesn't actually know how to deal with grief and he doesn't know how to help Denji. So he goes to the thing he does to cheer himself up. I really don't think it's just some throw away to show he's "a bad person" because to me, that just wouldn't make sense when there's already evidence to suggest he's a foil.

Someone also pointed out (i don't remember who) that everyone who hates denji with a passion ends up becoming his friend and viewing him as equal, whereas anyone who likes him idolizes him, to the point he's not really viewed as a human being. I think that, if they had to fight the apocalypse together, I wanna see it.

Anywho I'm still not over the fact he's gotten arrested twice and still hasn't gotten an official name. That's funny as fuck
