@glimmering-hope

hello! welcome to glimmering-hope. self care is something that is important to me and i want to create a space to encourage others in their recovery (or whatever kind of point you are in your life). if i can help just one person, it'll be worth it.

asks are usually open! feel free to use that for questions, comments, feedback, suggestions, requests, etc. i do, however, ask that you do not send vents in my asks. i am also not the type who's good at giving advice to people i don't know.

as for what to call me? i go by many names, but you can use my nickname, starlight! any pronouns (including neos).

Rainbow Grounding Technique

[Plain text: Rainbow Grounding Technique.]

this is a technique you can use to ground yourself / reconnect to the present or your surroundings. there are a few different ways you can do it!

  1. look around for different colored objects in your surroundings and name them:
  • something red
  • something orange
  • something yellow
  • something green
  • something blue
  • something purple

2. pick any color, find objects in that color, and name them.

3. if the place you're at isn't particularly colorful, or if the lights are off, you can list different objects of a certain (or multiple) color(s) that you can think of!

you matter. you belong in this world.

it is okay if all you did today was exist. that doesn't make you a failure. i'm glad you exist.

you don't have to be the best version of yourself at all times - that would be impossible. life fucking sucks sometimes, but it wont always be this way.

i promise that you are loved.

Are you really not making progress, or are you just constantly raising the bar?

It’s likely you’ve made more progress than you realize. It’s easy to get stuck on seeing how far we have to go, and we often forget about how far we’ve come.

We also are a lot harder on ourselves than we would be others. Would you be proud of the progress if it was a friend and not you? That might be a sign you’re being too hard on yourself.

And sometimes, we do go backwards and that’s okay. It doesn’t erase your progress. And you can get back to where you were and beyond.

You deserve to be proud of yourself for everything you’ve made it through, for making it to where you are and surviving.

Hey, it’s ok to not be a “productive member of society.”

Some people are housebound. Bed bound. Some people physically can’t eat, shower, or use the toilet without the assistance of a caretaker. Some people don’t have the spoons to get out of bed in the morning, let alone work a 9-5 job in this capitalist hellhole.

You’re not lazy. You’re not less than.

And this is coming from a disabled person with chronic pain who can leave the house and walk (with some pain) without mobility aids.

You deserve to take up space. You deserve to cost money. You deserve to be here without feeling guilty just because you can’t give back in the traditional way.

You’re worth it, hun. 🫶🏼

You deserve credit for surviving.

You deserve credit for trying.

You deserve credit for getting through the days.

You don’t need to be thriving, making strides and noticeable progress to deserve credit. While those things are wonderful and deserving of credit, you deserve credit now too.

Try and give yourself the credit you deserve.

if you're trans, keep reading:

you are loved. there are people who care about you. you matter. your existence is important. keep going.

your body is just fine as it is, even with all the "imperfections*," i promise. if you have...

body hair, facial hair, natural hair, bushy eyebrows, body fat, acne, moles, freckles, birthmarks, hyperpigmentation, vitiligo, eczema, any skin conditions, scars, bruises, stretchmarks, wrinkles, sagging breasts, flat chest, hip dips, wide thighs, cellulite, flat bottom, full bottom, small penis, "atypical" genetalia, happy trail, bush, weak muscles, big nose, big ears, double chin...

...you're wonderful.
