Hey everyone! The time to get your votes in has come and gone! Itโs time to announce the results!
The theme is:ย AU or UA!
Out of 125 responses, 17.6% of you voted for AU/UA and 36% of you voted for an open AU/UA theme.ย
For those of you who might not know what AU or UA are or the difference between them:
- AU stands for alternate universe. These fanworks which change at least one element of the sourceโs canon according to Fanlore. Think coffee shop, soulmate, bodyguard, etc etc.
- UA stands for universe alteration. Most people liken this to canon divergence! Think things like fix-its, characters being aged up or down, different first meetings, etc etc.
As always, the theme is optional, so you can choose to run with it or totally discard it! Whatever you decide, itโll definitely be interesting!

May i suggest Platonic kaishin
Yeah, platonic KaiShin is great as well! In any kind of relationship - as friends, family or lovers - they work! I feel they would have great chemistry as well as lot of potential, no matter the nature of their relationship.
I've read some great fics with them as friends or family. My favourite is A Friend in Need by Rebelleader1011 (its sequel is great as well); and Relative Truth by Becky Tailweaver is the very first fic I've read with Kaito and Shinichi as cousins, it's been years since I last read it but I enjoyed it a lot back then.
I would love nothing more but to see them getting better acquainted with each other in the manga and in the movies, and befriending each other and build a relationship. I want them to be as close as Heiji and Conan-Shinichi are. Maybe they will. That's what I hope.
The thing is... I might enjoy reading fics where they're cousins and even like the idea of it, I even entertained it for a while, it doesn't mean I actually wanted it to be canon, and I never expected Gosho Aoyama to make it canon after more than twenty years, when nobody expected it ^^;
So yeah, platonic KaiShin is great! I just happen to love them more as a romantic pair when reading fanfictions about them ^^;; though I'll enjoy any content about them.

Message to the DCMK fandom
In light of recent events (the revelation from movie 27), I would like to say to the fandom and most of all the non KaiShin shippers:
- Don't harass or attack KaiShin shippers
- Don't mock them
- Don't make them feel bad
- Don't push them to delete their KaiShin content/blog
Celebrate all you want, but don't brag to KaiShin lovers. For most of us, the revelation hits us bad. Don't rub salt in the wound.
And please, please don't harass them for still shipping KaiShin. Don't make them feel bad for still enjoying a ship that bring them joy still. This ship has over 30 years and, until the latest movie, we never suspected such revelation to be ever canon
Please be normal and let's keep peace and civility in the fandom.
