If there's one thing to be noted about pirates, it's that they tend to have wild parties. Even more so for the crew of the Crooked Star.
Parties, shanties night, fireworks, plays and more. Captain Juniper took great pains to ensure that the crew of the Crooked Star was well cared for and entertained. A happy crew was one that worked well together.
In the frequent chaos of the Crooked Star's festivities, it wasn't uncommon for people to get tossed overboard. A game was made of it even! And so when Captain Juniper heard reports of someone helping the crew mates be fished out of the ocean and put back on board, it wasn't paid attention to. Until the night that Juniper saw it themselves.
There wasn't anything particularly out of the ordinary on this party. Things were as chaotic as ever, they'd just blown up a pier after robbing some nobleman of everything in his manor, including the wine cellar, so celebrations were in order. The captain laughed uproariously, watching the lights of the fires in the distance and drinking from a bottle of stolen spirits.
One of the ship gunners had lost some game and was tossed overboard as a result. Juniper tilted their head, watching as the man thrashed, wondering how long it'd take for him to gather his bearings and swim back towards the rope ladder that'd been lowered. It was then that they saw... something odd. Someone had emerged from the waters to grab the ship gunner and was pushing him towards said ladder.
"HALLOOOOO! YOU DOWN THERE!" Juniper called out and waved off the ship gunner when he looked up. "NEIN, NOT YOU HILPERT! THAT PERSON CARRYING YOU- I DO NOT RECOGNIZE HIM. WHO ARE YOU?"
