It being Mordecai's birthday inspired me to figure out Silver's "second" birthday, aka the day Atlas and Mitzi saved Silver and brought him to the Lackadaisy.

Silver being saved, on the timeline, is the second event that happens in 1920 with the language "Silver is soon taken into Atlas' and Mitzi's care months later". So, months later from near the start of the year. We need enough time for Mordecai to start working for the lackadaisy and Atlas to become more involved with Mitzi, on top of Silver being put in the asylum, potentially in February.

I'm going to say Silver's new birthday would be on May 12th.

When Serafine and Nico announce that they're going to be doing their last job as triggermen, Mordecai and Silver offer to help. With Rocky tagging along, this may be the most memorable night of their careers.

Not me thinking of a Lacka FNAF AU...

Don't worry, still working on the Pokemon AU and the main AU too, things are just very spaced out for parts of the Pokemon AU so trying to figure out how to work that. I am working on the third series for the main AU (yes while still updating the second series. I know, it's unheard of fhfhf /j).

The next fic for that third series is a big one that takes a lot of mental power, so write now I am slowly working through it and eventually will edit it. The fics after will be a lot shorter and like the usual ones you guys are used to seeing, the third series just takes a fair bit of setting up and I wanna make sure I hit all the emotional and technical (facts in the AU) notes for this one.

So I will be slowly chipping away at that while also doing some fun AU stuff.

Mordecai finally lets Silver know about the supernatural abilities he has come to terms with.

Not me realizing Silver didn't know about this so quickly writing this up. Turned out cuter than I expected and turns out Silver is really into the whole ghost, soul thing lol.

Guys guess what??? I finished the added parts to Love As a Scheme. I believe now it has all the wonderful stuff and important scenes I wanted to include but didn't originally. It's mostly just relationship milestones for Mordecai and Silver that give a lot of context (I hope). You can read it here:

So, yes and no.

Yes because a lot of them are simply stuff that couldn't fit into the main AU but show other parts of the characters/relationships. Aka not really introducing anything wildly new and the characters are pretty much the same as they are in the main AU since that's just how I write them. Some of them I would potentially link to as an explanation for some things in the AU, even. They just fill in holes that aren't really that important to the story the main AU is trying to tell. Below I have linked some examples:

Silver's Corner shows some cute early day Mordecai and Silver antics.

Atlas' Nuisance shows Silver's dynamic with Atlas, along with what Atlas thought of Silver and Mordecai's relationship (it isn't pretty).

What Kind of Milk Were You? shows some of Silver's worries after the AU when Silver and Mordecai would be married.

Love Hurts shows Silver with Zib and a part of his period of denial concerning Mordecai's feelings for him.

The Color Wheel (According To Stoats) shows how the unique way Silver organizes things and further characterizes him (plus it's just cute).

Silver's Revenge once again clarifies Silver's relationship with Atlas and how Mordecai knew Silver had a crush on him to begin with.

Silver's Room is a characterization piece worth looking into.

Angel Lights explores why Silver hates holidays so much and parts of his past with Valentin.

But the answer is no when it comes to other AUs (of course) and writings that include characters like Silver's sister, who is not canon in the main AU at all, and things like giving Mordecai and Silver pets.

At the end of Silver Bullets & Black Dandelions Mordecai left for New York to settle things with his sisters. Upon returning to St. Louis, he realizes many things have changed, yet, the right things have remained the same.

We've always seen Serafine as "one of the boys". Mostly, we thought Serafine is so loose about gender I could see her easily flocking between the guys and gals, enjoying and being totally happy with this complexity. Though, we did think she enjoyed hanging out with the guys more mostly due to her interest in gambling and intense fun.

So, me and my cowriter had an important question on our hands: Would she be so much a part of "the guys" she'd find the joke funny without understanding why it was hurtful to Mordecai?

Our initial response was yes. Mostly because Serafine harked on Mordecai's sentimentality and, overall, her and Nico did not seem afraid of teasing other's flaws and struggles.

Her original response was, "So what if the boys made fun of your little problem? Dey do dat to everyone", or something like that. I know, very different times indeed. To be clear, however, she still got upset once Mordecai revealed it was an acephobic comment.

However, we went completely against that for the last draft for several reasons:

  • In the fic, the reason Serafine harked on Mordecai being sentimental was due to a lack of trust.
  • Yes, the Savoys are very teasing, but that doesn't mean they are incapable of being sympathetic or taking situations seriously when it clearly matters to the person they're talking to. For example, in this comic and the ones leading up to it, Serafine seems to take her own past seriously and even appears sympathetic in parts to Mordecai's struggle.
  • Serafine knows Mordecai enough to deduce how hurtful that comment was and potentially why. She wants to gain his trust, she understands how sensitive he can be and knew to tread lightly.
  • Serafine also knew Stephan. Stephan was her ex turned bully, so she was well aware anything he said was being said in bad faith.
  • We wrote Serafine as very sex positive, so even if she believed what Stephan was saying, I'd see her being perhaps a little bit teasing that "prude Mordecai" was having such an issue, but also being the first person to be sympathetic and offer solutions/try to understand where the comment was coming from. She'd want Moreecai to know help is out there and she definitely wouldn't stand for him being emasculated because of it.
  • We also wrote her as being very "in the know" about queer identities, so we thought it'd make more sense if she immediately clocked it as a potentially homophobic comment.

And yeah, that was a long explanation but we like pulling the curtain back when it comes to the writing process so we hope you enjoyed it nonetheless.

Does Silver celebrate Christmas with Freckle?

Silver has very bad associations with Christmas due to his Catholic up bringing. However, I would like to think that, after a while, he could make new memories and that pain would be lessened.

So, eventually, Silver has separate celebrations, one with Freckle, Rocky, and Irene, another with Mordecai. Now I'm tempted to write Rocky and Freckle helping Silver get out of his shell.
