GW2 Artist Collective

@gw2collective / gw2collective.tumblr.com

Welcome to the Tumblr homepage of the GW2 Artist Collective, which produces officially sponsored projects through ArenaNet. It is a branch of the Alchemy Art Group. Our upcoming 2019 project is named Tyrian Gazette, a periodical designed to present Tyria to the reader as if you were living a day in the life. Specifically, it will feature highlights of fashion and the current times, with both lighthearted and serious undertones. The project's applications are currently under review and will have a creative period from May through July, with delivery in Dec.  Proceeds of this charity project go to Extra Life 2019 with ArenaNet's effort in November. If you're interested in our projects, please visit Alchemy's store here. This project is led by ArenaNet Creative Partner Zorav. We have produced Tyrian Tarot, the two Wintersday Zines (Chimes & Journeys) and several other side projects, and our group has donated more than $49,000 to charity. ONE DAY LEFT TO TYRIAN GAZETTE!

Thanks to everyone who has visited the campaign over the past few weeks! We’ve smashed through a ton of goals, and we still have a few left if you’d like to join us. We still have a few Paypal reserved spots if you need them (please email!), but the standard reservations will be going through tomorrow night at 11:59 PM PDT. Don’t miss out your chance to pledge and have your name included in the Thank You Credits!

The project is sponsored by @guildwars2 with a donation going toward Extra Life later this year! We really appreciate all of you for helping make this project a reality! :D

Tyrian Gazette’s Funding Campaign is LIVE!

This year, we’ve put together another ArenaNet-sponsored charity collaboration from the world of @guildwars2. From the GW2 Artist Collective, it features works from 82 different contributors that are making an in-world magazine.

In the book, we get a moment to see the world through the eyes of a citizen of Tyria, answering questions from what they would be told to what they’d see in their every day. It’s at times serious, and others funny.

The book is 8.5″x11″ with a holographic foil design on the front. The inside pages are 135lb art page stock, full color, with a matte laminate cover. It also features an unlockable slip case and more merchandise.

Pledges for this project are shipped in tiers based off of when you pledge, so the earlier you pledge the earlier your rewards are sent! It is also a limited run campaign. If you’re interested in limited edition items, we have signed copies from ArenaNet devs, specialty items donated from Guild Wars 1 and 2 and more.

Proceeds from the project will be going toward Extra Life!

Tyrian Gazette: Welcome To Our Contributors!

We’re so excited to finally announce the contributors of the Tyrian Gazette project! Our annual sponsored project with @guildwars2, we’re excited to adventure back into their world! Please read below for more info about our newest collaboration and further past for more details about the contributors, with full links to their portfolios.

This collaboration is brought to you from the GW2 Artist Collective, a branch of the Alchemy Art Group. The book’s contributors seek to make an “in-game” magazine, where all ads, articles and designs are made in a way that emulates how a magazine would look in the world of Tyria if you were walking the streets today.
In 200 to 250 custom-created pages from over 80 contributors, the book asks the readers questions about the world: What is important to them? What would a magazine think is relevant from the standpoint of Divinity’s Reach, bringing in Elonian influences? What would they be looking out for normally? The magazine assumes the role of a periodical that has come out frequently, and is trusted by the city to educate, entertain and inform them of these things.

The project launches August 6th! We truly hope to see you there.

Tyrian Gazette: Calling All Artists & Writers

“So Countess, what should we know about the world of Tyria?”

Welcome to Tyrian Gazette, a project of the GW2 Artist Collective! We hope you’re looking forward to another collaboration with our group, going to a good cause with talented people and fun merch.

The book invites the reader to adventure into the world of @guildwars2 through the lens of a popular in-world magazine. The book is releasing its annual fashion edition, which includes ads, in-the-moment features, fashion segments and more.

The Collective is looking for contributors to help this project come to life, and applications are now open through April 16th, 2019 at 11:59 PM EDT.

This project is officially sponsored by ArenaNet, and operated by the Alchemy Art Group (which runs the GW2 Artist Collective). The project will be sold for charity starting in July, featuring the book, merch and prints. If you’re interested in purchasing the project and receiving updates, our mailing list is here.

44 hours are left in applications!!

We’re excited to be going over everything in the next few days. <3 Thanks to everyone for their support. You’re all lovely.

Anonymous asked:

Can I join the discord even if I'm not accepted? I would love to see the whole process from an outside-but-still-near perspective!

You’re free to join the Discord - it’s a community server and free to anyone in the community (we have general art/writing channels and a lot of other things). However, the project channels all have role-locked access and are under NDA for the contributors. The rest of the server (anything you see on joining) is open to you though!

Anonymous asked:

Is the brainstorming period completely solo? I mean to say, are we allowed to bounce ideas off of other accepted artists and mods, or are we expected to just produce a bunch of sketches and see if they get approved? How does the brainstorming process work exactly?

Hey anon:

Completely the opposite, actually. The brainstorming period already started with the active members of the Collective. A beginning “bookmap” was provided of what we’re looking at, and all people in the project can put forth ideas and we talk about it as a team. It’s a group effort.

We pull together ideas and concepts that we think will work (not everything can just “work” as there are a lot of rules to follow - canon compliancy, fan service versus aesthetics versus world visuals, and so on). You’re allowed to work outside of the lists we provide as well; we always find that it’s much easier to provide examples of what is acceptable and let people start from there (and often people find what they’d like to work on off of that list).

You’re more than allowed to bounce ideas off of us/the other contributors if accepted. The project chats are all collaborative and you should never feel alone when working with us.

- M.

Anonymous asked:

If I'm interested in eventually participating in one of these amazing projects, can I submit some pieces for critique to see if my style is something that would be considered? Or where I can improve upon before actively applying?

Hey anon - thanks for your interest!

After application deliberation is done, we send out a form with notices that you’re allowed to fill out to request constructive criticism from the team (fair warning, it takes us a while to get back to these - we get a lot of requests and we try to be thorough). But so, effectively yes, feel free if you’d like! You should still obviously try to present your best work!

Have a nice day.
