according to Littmann's own statement, the installation's goal is to challenge human perception of nature and the human-nature relationship, as well as the ways in which that relationship will change over time. it is intended as a memorial and warning, wanting to bring attention to the fact that the self evidence of nature could one day only be admired in specially assigned vessels, as is already the case today with animals in the zoo.
