fans of mlm spider-man ships stop being absolute fucking freaks towards female characters challenge

Parksborn fans I’m disappointed in you. We like the guy who marvel writers and marvel fans alike love to throw under the bus and you’re doing it to female characters? Be ashamed.

i’m gay but i’m always gonna choose the well developed straight ship over the 2 bland and incompatible white dudes that have 500,000 fanfics written about them. you guys just hate women.

@lpsgirl109 remember the time i, lesbian woman, got called homophobic for this exact thing. That was fun.

an appalling number of marginalized people in this upcoming generation appear to be under the impression that saying they're "reclaiming" a slur gives them a free pass to use that slur in a derogatory way towards other marginalized people in their communities that they dislike or think are annoying. maybe it's just the people i've had the misfortune of encountering in the wild, but it's getting bleak out there, folks.

like the other day i encountered some cunt using the fucking R slur to refer to an autistic person stimming in a way they found annoying, and when confronted about their ableism, they replied, "oh, i have ADHD, i can reclaim it." and it's like, no, you jackass, you absolutely the fuck cannot! that is not what that means! if the way you use a word is indistinguishable from the way a fucking nazi would use that word, then you're not "reclaiming it" anymore, you dumb bastard!!! you're just using it the same way the damn nazi does!!! shut the fuck up and be kinder you ass!!!

Responding to prevs tags:

People are also using autistic as an insult in general. When I was in high school last year, I frequently heard, “are you autistic?” used because of someone acting weird.

Also my sister works with elementary school kids at an after school program, and she says they often insult each other by using gay

[Image description: a screen shot of Tumblr tags from an unnamed user: #god I've definitely noticed an uptick in casual r slurs and the -tard suffix and it's exhausting #really would like the casual R slur happening to stop #also why is using 'gay (derogatory)' coming back? around queers no less? .Description ends]

...I should really check my Pinned Post. If I don't have a warning that the use of "-tard" earning you an instant block, I should add it.

So we all mocked the Minecraft movie and agreed to not give it money...only for y'all to immediately go see it?

It's lazy. It's ugly. They're banking on it being a huge money maker. They totally whitewashed Steve. Afaik there's a boycott on Microsoft rn (the company that Owns Minecraft). It has colonist undertones. Don't go see this pile of garbage. Yes even if they paid off your fave streamer to advertise it

[ID: a simple doodle showing a person, labeled "me inspecting dad's wawa sizzli after removing the box from the floor," looking at an open box on a counter, labeled "dad's wawa sizzli (recently confiscated from bad animals)." the person says, "do the croissant ones not have a top bun?" behind them, two cats, labeled "bad animals," are on the floor playing with the top bun.]

lot of posts out there on an age of suffering - "if you are 14 right now i'm so sorry" "19 year olds. hold my hand. we will make it through this" "do not kill yourself while 21" - and they're all correct. but let's be positive... let's choose an age that we will assume was awesome for everyone. and post about it in celebration. if you are 2 right now well it is awesome right

Like, okay, I love Taco Bell nachos. I love them so much. At time of filming, those cost a little under $3. If someone asked me if they were worth it, I would say, "Yes, certainly!" If tomorrow, they suddenly cost $20, I would immediately be able to say, "Oh, mm-mm, no. No, they're not worth that." I wouldn't say, "Well, I really like them, so I suppose if you can afford it, they're worth it." I would say no, they're worth around $3. Maybe up to five, if I was desperate.

This segment from jenny nicholsons star wars hotel video keeps playing in my head whenever people talk about the cost of video games these days so i'm clipping it because it's relatable to me.

ik misogyny is real and all and I live this daily but it'll never cease to amaze me how in pop culture a woman will say smth Slightly off color and it can tank her career immediately (especiallyyyyy women of color & queer women) and then male celebrities are out there with 10k rape allegations and u still get people defending his honor like he sent their kids to private school and bought their mom's house like

okay but if you ever see a male creative who had a string of great work and then everything else he did was dogshit, go to the "personal life" part of his wikipedia and look at his relationships. you'll either find a major tragedy he didn't recover from (completely understandable) or, more likely, there was a woman in his life doing uncredited shit editing his stuff or contributing generally and she's not there anymore.

I told a friend about this phenomenon in literature and he called me weeks later like, I remembered what you said about women doing uncredited work when tim burton came up. he made a string of bangers then everything else just was nowhere near as good. the timeline matches perfectly to when he was with this german visual artist (lena gieseke). he's done some good work in collaboration, but if things were dug into I suspect we would find she did a lot more than people realise.

so yeah whenever you look around like wow women didn't work in history, or, women aren't auteurs, or, there just aren't as many great female writers - societal reasons for that aside, half the time they absolutely did.

Hell yeah

whenever characters have a weird dad and a missing/dead/unmentioned mom the fandom tendency is to assume she's normal to balance it out. but it's always valid to instead assume she matched his freak. that she was freakier. if canon won't give you enough insane women to work with it's always morally correct to fill in the blanks with your own
