Updated intro post: hello and welcome to the internet home of my beloved sighthounds.
So Florence has been dropped off for diagnostics and now we wait for a call. If she's swallowed something stupid then I don't even know. I'm so careful with her. I can't believe this is my 4th time doing a medical drop off with her and I haven't even had her a year yet. She's probably going to stay overnight, I would be shocked if they don't want to keep her.
She was very alert and active waiting in the waiting room and wanted to be in my lap:
So Florence is VERY into the scratch board after some practice. She almost just finds it fun in and of itself.
Evelyn really doesn't seem to like it! Even with the highest value treats I can imagine and a high rate of reinforcement. She has always been very very sensitive about her feet so I am wondering if there is something about the feeling she doesn't like.
Ummm it's called an open concept puppy pen idk if you've heard of it but it's very modern and stylish
#i had it set up to puppy proof things and then i just kinda half assed putting it back#and i don't know that i actually will put it back up fully. we don't really use it much anymore#it's funny we have the crate in the living room also#and for the last month or so I've literally only used it to close my shoes inside so the puppy can't eat them

#i am changing my system so that people have to pay upfront at least a small fee to get on my schedule#i think this will be easier for people and it will also weed out the people who are going to ghost me#this way they also can just select from an assortment of appointment times#then pay to reserve their time#i am writing this in the tags instead of absolutely ranting about the email i received this morning#because i am trying not to get all ruffled over it.#it's one of those situations#where you've provided clear instruction#repeated yourself 3x#and still gotten ignored#so it's maddening and I'm going to look for ways to make it simpler for people#i get that people are busy. i have tried to make things super simple#but i think i can do more to make things more automated and even simpler#still mad about this email.
Florence will most likely have a trial run of being loose alone in the living room today instead of in her pen, for a slightly longer period than our practice absences. wish her luck and nondestructiveness. 🤞
#would be wonderful if this works out and i can begin to leave my house without stressing about it#well without stressing about it on account of the dogs. i will still stress about it#the driving anxiety post-accident has not helped me with the rest of my leaving-the-house anxiety#but it would be very nice if the DOGS' anxiety was no longer a factor in mine#i have to take the hamster back to the vet today - he's not looking very good#still acting fine but has some sort of skin issue going on that treatment for mites did not resolve at all#so I'm thinking it is something worse than mites#he is quite old for a hamster
Most mornings Florence wakes up and goes out and eats and then goes back to sleep.
Some mornings, she is an agent of chaos bent on destruction.
All mornings, I wake up exhausted and am mostly concerned with pouring enough caffeine down my throat that I will feel mostly alive.
Sometimes our morning dispositions do not complement each other well.
