Spirit of a True Toa

@herora-nuva / herora-nuva.tumblr.com

This is a Bionicle fan blog honoring my favorite story ever. Certified Adult, old enough to remember when putting your age on the internet was unsafe. Check out my YouTube channel where I discuss Bionicle lore and theories: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCWklWXzfxemh5rwMvh7WfaQ

Ranking every MU species based on how I view their organic:inorganic ratio based from the most inorganic to the most organic. Doesn't have all species but I tried to have as many as possible

  1. Makuta (literally just armor with gas inside)
  2. Pridaks species/Johmaks species (Have organic parts but their entire outer body is exoskeleton and/or armor)
  3. Vortix (from what I recall movie Roodaka looked pretty inorganic)/Brutakas species/Hydraxons species/Carapars species (Look inorganic/exoskeleonic but less than Pridaxs species)
  4. Toa (most of their body is armor though they have visible internal organs)
  5. Sidoraks species/Mantax species/Lariskas species/TSO, Ancient and co./Skakdi/Ehleks species (????) (same as Toa but they have less armor and or look more organic)
  6. Kalmahs species/Matoran & Turaga (some level of armor and inorganic outer but they have orgaic outer or look organic
  7. Takadox's species (they're basically just moth people with some level of armor, very fluffy but have armor/inorganic parts to them)/A fanspecies of mine (based on a RSG species) that includes Vengeance and an oc of mine thats literally just anthromorphic birds with some armor
  8. Axonns species/Tobduks species (I see them as very organic/muscly looking with not that much inorganic looking parts)

Feel free to comment on my ideas or tell your own

Ooo this is really nice! I might have Skakdi on the more organic side because of their spines and faces being so organic, but honestly I agree with a lot of this!

tfw you're banished from the fire people, but they let you back when you bring them the legendary elemental spirit hero

New video coming tomorrow! This one talking about why exactly Takua was banished, who banished him (hint: it WASN'T Vakama), and how long he had been a wanderer for!

So I'm pretty sure most of this is technically just fanon lmao.

Zero sources.

Most of it is logical inference I guess. I don't outright disagree with any of it, it fits with my understanding of what the Sacred Fire is and its purpose.

But literally none of that information is in the text (other than "the sacred fire was in vakama's hut and purportedly used to get information about the future"), or even in Greg answers (to the best of my understanding).

I don't see it as a big deal, it's just interesting that BS01 seems to be going in the direction of mostly-logical-but-not-actually-verified-in-canon fanon lore.

Yeah, there’s actually a bit of that on BS01. It’s still overall a good wiki, but it does attempt to fill in things that are contradictory or ambiguous with its own speculation. The most egregious example in my opinion is that, in order to keep their interpretation of the early MU timeline straight, they say that Mata Nui’s program created several creatures and beings before he was actually brought online. A statement that is supported nowhere in the text or Greg statements, but is necessary in oder to make their very specific, and frankly very contestable, interpretation of the timeline work.

It’s such a massive reach, but they treat it as authoritative despite it being nothing more than a headcanon.

I still put BS01 very high on my list of quality fan wikis, but it does still have areas it could brush up on

Say what you will about Web of Shadows but that movie is lowkey the reason why Matau is not only my favorite Toa Metru but one of my favorite characters in the entire damn franchise.

Like I love haha silly matau as much as he next guy but when hes given actually serious character moments and developement it's just *chef's kiss*.

Matau’s plea to Vakama in their fight is one of the best scenes in the series, it actually makes me emotional.

“We all make mistakes Vakama, that’s what happens when you’re brave enough to make decisions.” Chief’s kiss writing right there

GOD SAME HERE. It just breaks me every time I watch it.

Tbh that entire scene is honestly not just among my favorite scenes in the series and a MAJOR reason Matau is among my favorite toa, its also my favorie of the three "third act emotional climaxes" in the Miramax movies (Jallers sacrifice/Takuas transformation and Lhikans death being the other two). Though Lhikans death does come close second.

God I love that line so much. But I feel my favorite line has to be "And if there's any of the Vakama I know left he know what to do next." The whole scene is peak writing tho haha

Watching @herora-nuva ‘s video on Bionicle Kaiju (an excellent video by the way, check it out!) and i saw this edit of a MNOG style Rahi Nui

And I was struck with a sudden memory.

“Wait a minute, I think I’m the one who made that!”

And sure enough, there it is in my old brickshelf gallery, first uploaded back in July 2010 under my old username.

Never expected to come across that old MS paint edit again, it was cool to see!

Woah wait really! That's crazy, small world! Also I'm realizing I think I forgot to include your credit, really sorry about that, I'll make sure to put it in the description!

Fan Theory: Like Ogres and Onions, the Matoran Universe has Layers

This theory has been rattling around in my head for some time, I might make a Knowledge Tower video about it someday, but I’m not certain if its a good fit, given its more of a theory than anything where I actually do some science in it. Maybe you all can let me know if this is a good video idea in the notes?

Anyway, the crux of this theory is something to try to explain how all of this:

Actually fits into the body of the GSR.

This is a long post, so I’ll put the rest under the cut.

Yo wait, this actually works really well! I think this is gonna be my headcanon going forward. I love how it works with the actual depth of the robot’s torso, like layers would make sense there

Ah Bionicle, only fandom I know of where major headcanons have to be devised all because God’s slutty waist causes problems for geography. And the fact that’s a sentence I can say is why I am never leaving

If you take anything away from the Day 1 Executive Orders, let it be this: The true question of Trump's second Presidency will not be, "Is he allowed to do that?" It will be, "Who's going to stop him if he does?"

There's been a lot of discussion about his executive order to end birthright citizenship. Legally, he can't do that. He's written an order that directly violates the Constitution.

But that's the trick, isn't it? Over twenty states have sued him for it. But it will be the Supreme Court who has the final word on whether the 14th Amendment actually exists or not. They are the final supreme authority on the matter. They decide whether Trump can do that or not.

Trump is testing the waters. He's already broken many of the limitations that people thought existed on the Presidency. He's already revealed our vaunted "checks and balances" to have been smoke and mirrors all along. And this is it.

The United States Constitution is the very last one. There is nothing in American governance more sacred than that.

If the Supreme Court says it's cool? If they rule that Trump's supremacy outweighs the Constitution? Then that's game, isn't it? Once the Constitution isn't real, there is nothing left to hold him back. Once the Constitution isn't real, our democracy isn't real.

He's been saying spooky shit like "Once you vote for me, you'll never have to vote again," for months. This is it. This is the final test. If SCOTUS rules in favor of Trump's supremacy above the Constitution, then Trump will become God-Emperor of America.

And in case you aren't worried enough, remember Trump v. United States. The Supreme Court already gave Trump a get-out-of-jail-free card for breaking the law, as long as his lawbreaking is considered an official act (by, presumably, the Supreme Court).

Even if Trump does something over the line, something that even the Republican-majority Supreme Court can't find an excuse to justify, he will not face legal consequences unless he massively cheeses off the Supreme Court in the process.

All that can hold him back now are illegal consequences.

And unfortunately, it may be much worse than even that. Trump has stated before that one of his personal heroes was Andrew Jackson, who, among many other horrible things, openly defied a Supreme Court ruling and stated that they did not have the power to issue binding interpretations on the Constitution. He refused to enforce their ruling, and is attributed as telling the Court to enforce it themselves, which they obviously couldn't.

Meaning even if the Supreme Court decides to uphold the Constitution in this case, Trump may simply ignore them, as his hero did, and continue to issue his illegal orders. And since the Court has already declared that no legal actions that can be taken against official acts, literally the only hope in that case would be the members of his own Execute Branch defying his illegal orders, which is highly unlikely given that they easily could be prosecuted for this.

Things are going to get very dangerous very soon. And at the current moment, the Left is too disorganized to resist on the national level, so we need to focus on local. Go to City and County Council Meetings to see what your local government is doing about this.

And even more, build networks of informal community members, your neighbors and friends, and build bonds of helping each other out outside of the formal system and outside of businesses.

Check in with your neighbors. Look up your rights. Resist and survive.

please dont stop talking about palestine . i do not trust israel and there has been multiple ceasefires theyve completely ignored . if we do happen to see iof soldiers leave and no longer occupy palestine , they would still need to rebuild . this includes medical aid and addressing airborne diseases , finding displaced families and reuniting them , etc ... their entire infrastructure needs to be rebuilt so please do not forget about palestine and do not let the US take credit for their liberation .

You pointing out that Vegeta in the Saiyan and Namek sagas was very consistently characterized as someone who never loses track of anything that happens on the battlefield made me realize how much of an “oh fuck” moment it was for him to lose track of final form Frieza in the opening of their battle.

It was literally the first time in the series he lost track of anything he knew was there, and it was his singular target no less. No wonder that fight broke him, he failed at arguably his most notable non-strength advantage at a time when he thought his battle instincts were at their peak.

Also, love your analyses btw, your takes on the series you talk about are really thoughtful, and make me think about the characters in really deep new ways!

Aww, thank you!

An interesting note is that Vegeta still has a fantastic perception moment even in that fight.
