Fun fact about real life humans. Europe had functioning designs and examples of steel cannons for a long time before they were ever used in battle. And its not from a lack of opportunity.

Leaders just didn’t care for the expense or risk of upgrading when brass had worked so well for napoleon.

Same with the machine jun, they weren’t used (in europe) for years for various small mostly subjective reasons.

And then someone lost without them.

And everyone got the upgrades.

Picture this: Space war, other species see humans as a loud but primitive race that only just joined the stars, easy to crush. The first few battles even go there way.

And then suddenly our weapons are MUCH better. Our ships we MUCH better. Our computers and training and shields. Everything is leaps and bounds ahead.

Cause you see we’ve had that technology for years, we just didn’t implement it because there was no need to. Whether it’s human nature or capitalism, we don’t improve until we’re forced to, until something makes us.

But now there was a war,

now we could justify the cost,

so we stopped holding ourselves back.

Yo yo yo so it's 1:34 AM right now and I'm sitting with the thought of what Earth shows/movies/ general media I'd show or avoid showing to aliens and I was struck with wondering about showing them "Alien" itself. Like would they have similar horror-movie-watching reactions as us, and think it's just fun scary entertainment?. Would they be offended by the interpretations? Did they create similar cinematic interpretations of hostile space forces before they discovered us?

Mostly I'm curious if an interaction like this plays out.

Alien: "So, I was recently shown an Earthling fictional media named "Alien", that depicts a grotesque parasitic creature being forcefully injected in it's host before ripping itself out of them once the incubation process completed.

Human: "Ohh yeah. Did you know that movie is meant to be a representation of childbirth?"

Alien: "What."

the duality of humans being so resourceful, intelligent and resilient… while our bodies are so poorly designed and incredibly vulnerable

epilepsy feels like it would blow them away in the same way allergies would, bc Human wdym you can lose liters of blood and still live but if a light blinks you might die???

Okay, so the thoughts that humans are little or weak, very helpless on the galactic scale in movies and that earth is easy pickings by aliens who don’t view us as a viable life-form or something… I get it.

Sure. Humans fight each other all the time, aliens would probably think we’re the worst, right?

But what if we’re not?

What if the aliens come, and the first thing they say is, “Hello! We are so glad we found you! We are so pleased to meet you!” Similar to how humans greet puppies that we really want to meet and not scare, except it’s aliens that have been following radio messages across light years to find us.

We’ve spent so long wondering about what’s out there, and we see ourselves almost as a blight on our own planet, when we’re probably just fine. We’re trying. Maybe, just maybe, we’re okay. Maybe an outsider would look at us and think, “Look at them! They’re trying to be good! They name rocks and waters and cleaning robots! I love them for it!”

We tend to think that we must be the worst, the most backward, the blandest, least interesting or intelligent creatures in the galaxy.

I wonder how aliens would actually look at us.

We play whale noises into the black. We send greetings. We send probes with videos and audio tracks out explaining who we are and what we do on earth, just in case there’s someone else out there wondering if they’re alone in the universe. We tame predators to be companions because we are compassionate and we want to be friends with anything that will have us.

Maybe we’re not so bad.

I don’t know. This thought has been cycling through my brain a lot lately. Humans are weird and crazy, but we’re not the worst. Maybe we’re even likable.

Chloennette Yandere Marinette AU:

  • This version of Marinette is similar to the original one, Kind Caring and helping others. However, unlike normal she does this not because she cares, but because that's just what ones suppose to act.
  • This Marinette cares little about most people, not that she hates people more so she feels indifferent towards them. Just be nice to people and good things will happen in return is how she lived.
  • Then she met a certain blonde rich girl, Chloe bourgeois, A girl who looked down on others and would bully anyone she wants knowing she could because she's the mayor's daughter. And she has now directed it at Marinette, however, unlike most who would be in that situation, when Marinette meets Chloe face to face she felt something, something she never really felt with anything, genuine interest with something (or someone). And it's that interest which marks the start of new emotions for Marinette, very... very not good emotions.
  • since then, Marinette slowly grew an interest for the Rich girl. Nothing dithering that interest, not even if Chloe bullied her (which Marinette could usually handle, even mitigate to a non issue easily) and as that interest grew so did Marinette. She wanted to know more about Chloe, her parents, friends, her interests,..... what she does every day, where she goes every day, (she basically becomes like what she was with adrien in earlier season, just more obsessive and, unfortunately, less clumsy about it). And if Chloe were to take attention from her to others, well that just doesn't feel right! So this Marinette stands up to Chloe for the other kids, While those kids see and think of how kind and courageous she is to stand up to Chloe, as far as Marinette is concerned (especially seeing that it just makes Chloe focus more on her) Chloe only cares about her, and that's all that matters.
  • years of this later (and that growing interest turned obsession) we then begin at season 1 of the show.
  • Marinette is similar to who she is in season one, a girl going to school for fashion (though now it’s more because it’s what Chloe likes rather than any self interest)
  • She act similarly about Chloe like how she acted with Adrien at the beginning of her crush, her entire day scheduled, every detail about her memorized, even a shrine to her (basically the same, just more obsessive and more secretive about it)
  • It starts off normally to the original show, she saves Fu at the crossroads (though not out of care or worry, more so because that’s what the right thing to do is) after making sure he’s alright she leaves him to himself basically putting the old man out of her mind
  • Cut to school, and things go normally as they do in the main show. Classmates greeting her and stuff, there’s even a new transfer girl in her class. Marinette just does what she normally does, greeting them and being kind, all irrelevant because the main thing she cared about was about to enter. Chloe then entered the classroom, with Sabrina.
  • Chloe confronts her about her seat as in canon. (Marinette did it intentionally) Soon Adrien walks in, and Chloe’s attention moves from Marinette to him. (which slightly confuses Marinette)
  • Stuff plays out normal, all the events that happen, stoneheart appearing and Marinette finding Tiki’s miraculous box and becoming Ladybug. After all the events of Stoneheart and saving the day, seeing people cheer for the new heroes of Paris, Marinette…feels nothing of it. She honestly didn’t care much about being a hero, but still did so because it would be rude not to.
  • School happens, she stands up to Chloe as usual (knowing Chloe will then put her focus on her again) only for Adrien to say something as well to Chloe, making her stop entirely. Leaving Marinette with that same feeling as before.
  • We then get the umbrella scene again, all the dialogue stuff, only Marinette’s not as flustered as that scene. And as soon as Adrien leaves Marinette soon understands that feeling she had for him… finally understood what she had felt seeing how close he was with Chloe.
  • She…… did not like him.
  • Things play out the same for the first few times. An Akuma shows up, she transforms to Ladybug and deals with it. She feels nothing of it, but still puts the air of care for it.
  • Then Lady Wifi happens, and she discovers that Chloe is a huge fan of Ladybug… of her.
  • Knowing this, Marinette decides to visit Chloe. Not as Marinette, but as Ladybug.
  • As she meets her she sees how much Chloe gushes about her, how much she… admires her. Even when she tells Chloe ways to be a better person and sees that she does what she says the next day (in a Chloe way)
  • And seeing this, Marinette soon finds a use (in her mind) about being Ladybug. A way of keeping her attention, a way to see more of this Chloe that acts like this to Ladybug, a way to have Chloe admire HER…

people are drawing Steamboat Willie Mickey doing all this crazy shit and whatnot, but you could always do that. you can do that now, with current Mickey, just fine. it's fanart and it's legally protected. hell you could take Disney-drawn Mickey and put a caption about unions or whatever on it and it would still be protected under free speech and sometimes even parody law.

what is special about public domain is that you can SELL him. you could take a screenshot and sell it on a tshirt. you can use him to advertise your plumbing business. people have already uploaded and monetized the original film.

you could always have Mickey say what you want, but now you can profit off it.
