some headcanons:

April Fools is a shire tradition where the fauntlings get together and play pranks and tricks on their older family members. It's the one day of the year they won't be scolded for misbehaving, (as long as the tricks are within reason ofc...)

Bilbo makes the mistake of telling fili and kili about it while talking about hobbit holidays and culture. The next morning he wakes up to a frog in his bedroll. It was not April 1st. Cue angry hobbit.

Merry and Pip have a reputation for planning and pulling off the most epic pranks in the shire. We are talking putting a full grown hog in every persons smial, without ever being caught. Well, they may not get caught but everyone knows who did it.

They are way past the appropriate age to be doing this, but everyone has accepted that they cannot and will not be stopped. They can only hope those two are a once in a generation kind of blight.

After reading a few comments on the Dune Part 2 score it suddenly makes sense why that guy asked me at the end of the movie if I understood it.

It hadn't even occurred to me that someone would go see the movie without seeing the first movie. I mean, you don't need to read the books or have seen the original movie to enjoy it, but it literally is Dune Part 1 and Dune Part 2. The second picks up exactly where the first one left off.

Asking why aren't the harvesters shielded to prevent attacks from the Fremen... did you miss the entire scene from the first movie that talks about why?? Because it attracts every sand worm out there and provokes them into a feeding frenzy.

In the second movie the instincts of the Harkonnen soldiers is to raise their personal shields against the Fremen sniping them, but the one yells at them not to because it is worm territory.

But now I fully understand why that guy in the theater was confused. Clearly hadn't seen the first one, or at least, probably not since it first came out.

Too bad he didn't stick around for me to explain it to him. He just had this very disappointed look on his face as he left. Thanks dude for doing that during the credit music that I was very much enjoying. It's part of the whole experience, plus my huge reluctance to leave simply because it felt like I was leaving Arrakis. Definitely my favorite movie to see in the theater.
