whats your thoughts on series with mainly female casts vs series "for women". not saying theyre mutually exclusive at all, but interesting seeing people deride a series for having to many women as "pandering to men". like placing more importance in having something made with women foremost in mind vs having a well developed female cast while not necessarily being made with women as the target audience. I don't think this applies to anything youve really posted about tho so hm
well to start with, i know that the main demographic of the cast doesnt actually mean anything wrt the target demographic of the audience. all those harem anime where 90 women fight over one generic man arent exactly made with the idea that women are gonna be the biggest fans, yknow?
it ties into this other thing i noticed, where shows for little kids that focus on a female cast get praised for how theyre not only for girls, boys can like them too! stuff like powerpuff girls, or even mlpfim, will have people say theyre great because theyre not only for girls. but shows that focus on a male cast will never be praised for not only being for boys, ykwim? you never hear people say stuff like ben 10 is good bc girls can like it too, bc the little girl audiences are rarely considered, and boy audiences are prioritised
if a show only has a female audience it means it is excluding boys, but it only having a male audience means nothing, and if you want a girl show you should make your own (but itd be so much better if boys can like it too, yknow? you should keep that in mind xx)

maybe this is Problematic but if a piece of media is centred on women and girls and youre sitting there foaming at the mouth begging for them to start adding male characters, or god forbid a male LEAD. well then i think you should become amish. or watch supernatural or something
