Timothée Chalamet / Austin Butler + adjacent

The first look at the trailer certainly was one of Aronofsky’s more commercial looking entries in some time, showing star Austin Butler (whom Aronofsky said he met while on the awards campaign for “The Whale” while Butler was promoting “Elvis”) getting punched in the face, getting berated by a gangster played by Bad Bunny, smacking an intruder in the face with a baseball bat, and eating some very authentic looking matzah ball soup.

Also starring Zoë Kravitz, Regina King, Vincent D’Onofrio, Matt Smith, Liev Schreiber, D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai, and Carol Kane, “Caught Stealing” is an adaptation of Charlie Huston’s 2004 novel of the same name. It’s the first book in a trilogy that follows Butler’s anti-hero character, Henry Thompson, the others being “Six Bad Things” and “A Dangerous Man.”

A longer interview of Viola Davis and her husband, Julian Tennon, reacting to Timothee Chalamet’s ‘Greats’ shoutout at the SAG awards:

Viola Davis: “Here’s what I will say because it’s not my style to say ‘Oh, I love that I’m great’ [but] I love the speech. It was a speech about excellence. It was a speech about being the best at what you do. It wasn’t about celebrity or ego. It was beautiful and I completely understood it. You want to pass the baton in your life to the next great runner, to the next great person who has a vision of this career or this art. That’s what it felt like. It’s like that quote, ‘your purpose is not what you do. It’s what happens to other people when you do what you do.’ That’s what it was.”

Julian Tennon: “Timothee is a wonderful young man too. He’s a wonderful young man. He’s so talented.”
