hello everyone. it feels weird coming on here since i've been basically MIA. i think the last time i sat down to actually write something was two months ago with "self care". there was a lot i had envisioned for myself this year, but the year itself has a lot planned for me too. as of lately its just been a struggle to find time to want to write, or even the passion to write. when i think i found my spark, its extinguished before i can even grow a flame. it's honestly exhausting. i feel as though a part of me grew out of writing but i know deep down once i get a bearing on everything i can manage to find some time.
so this is me saying i will be going on an indefinite hiatus. i don't have much creative flow. when i had a creative flow was when i was being social. a part of me just withers away at work and comes home to dread another repeated day at work. so constantly my social battery is low. i dont quite have a good work/home balance either. college has added a few layers on top of that.
i'm sorry about my constant disappearing acts or this and that. until i can find a better balance between everything i feel as though stepping back is my best bet. my work will be up forever. i hope one day i can get hit with enough energy to write or even browse on here.
much love <3 - bonnie

Summary: After almost what feels like weeks of non-stop studying and taking finals, Y/N finally decides to invest in what everyone calls "self-careβ. Little did she know her dearest best friend would show her his idea of self care.
The only thing that sat heavily on her mind wasΒ self-care. After weeks of almost back-to-back studying for finals, she knew sheβd probably fail from procrastination alone; her body felt great, melting into her pleasantly soft couch. She knew she would need to get up if she wanted to do something of that nature called self-care. Still, the sofa had been calling her name after she blew it off one too many times in favor of her office chair and a dim light that hardly helped her focus on the text from the books.
After the finals, she enjoyedΒ someΒ time with friends, laughing about βhow easy that final was.β She, of course, lied straight through her teeth to fit in with her laughing and slightly intoxicated friends. That final was absolute hell, and if she could, sheβd totally find the professorβs house and tell them they should quit their jobs simply because what the fuck? Never mind the fact that she blew off all her friends in favor of studying.
Her lips pursed, remembering how her dearest friend Minhyuk had messaged her just hours ago. Instead of responding, she simply swiped the notification away for the fifth time that day. What could she say? Those finals tore through her, and now the simple fact of being around any single person deeply disturbed her. But thinking about practically blowing the man off, even with a schedule more packed than her, made her feel slightly terrible.
Her predicament was this: she was sitting β laying β very comfortably while her phone was peacefully resting on the coffee table just inches from her. She could, in theory, simply reach out for the phone and messageΒ himΒ back. Surely, he would only lay into her a bit because βBest friends donβt leave each other on delivered for more than an hour. You know I break the rules just to message you back.β
Scratch that; he totally would lay into her.

Glancing down at her phone, she let out an irritated sigh. As much as she loved her husband and brother, they were enough to drive her crazy. Across from her sat Minhyuk, who seemed absorbed in what his phone offered him.
Her soft smile wasnβt noticed by her company. Minhyuk took another languid sip of his drink, the ice cubes clinking against the glass like a gentle chime. His eyes, a warm combination of curiosity and distraction, remained glued to the luminous screen of his phone, consuming the cascade of information with an almost reverent focus. Yet, amidst the silent symphony of scrolling and sipping, he felt the subtle shift in the airβthe unspoken words hanging between themβprompting him to look up.
His gaze met hers, and Minhyukβs lips parted into a soft smile in that brief exchange. It was a fleeting gesture but profound enough to stir an effervescent flurry in her stomach, her heart dancing to the rhythm of nervous anticipation. She wrestled with the sensation, pushing it away like an unwanted whisper in the wind.
Clearing her throat, she broke the silence that had settled between them. βKihyun... he messaged me,β she said, her voice stronger than expected. The words were an anchor, drawing Minhyuk back from his sea of thoughts. βHeβs... apologizing for his actions.β
A peculiar silence enveloped the room as Minhyukβs smile waned, his expression clouded by the mention of Kihyunβs name. His reaction was not dramatic, yet the falter in his usual composure was as telling as a shout in a library. His fingers paused their rhythmic tapping on the screen; an internal conflict washed over him, leaving a residue of discomfort she could almost feel hanging in the air.
Despite the storm brewing behind his eyes, Minhyuk chose silence. He shifted his gaze back to his phone as if seeking refuge in its glow, but his focus was no longer there, scattered by the tempest of thoughts that Kihyunβs message had stirred within him. She watched him, seeing the mask of tranquility he tried to maintain, knowing well the signs of his inner turmoil. Yet she respected his choice, offering him the space to navigate his feelings, even as her emotions churned with unsaid words and unasked questions.

It was simple, really. In betweenΒ hisΒ fingers held a lone sunflower. It was not a thing to keep it company by itself as it fell downward only slightly, tipping its bright face up toΒ herΒ like it was seekingΒ herΒ smile. Minhyukβs grin was timid, the warmth in his eyes belying a hopeful question.
βDay twenty-three,β he announced as if it were an achievement. And to her, it felt enduring. βA flower for my gorgeous lady.β
Every sunflower he brought added a splash of joy to her once monochrome days, as vibrant as the laughter they shared. Todayβs bloom joined its brothers and sisters in the vase by her window, a growing sunshine, a field of warmth collected in glass.
Her smile was unwavering as she glanced at the other healthy, striving sunflowers. She watched Minhyuk fix the others; his smile was as bright as the sun. Since they started dating, she couldnβt recall a moment when his smile wasnβt so cheerful.
The whisper of a hum would slip from Minhyukβs lips as his fingers danced from one sunflower to the next, arranging them with a floristβs touch β each stems strategically placed, a live painting of golds and greens. He stepped back to admire his work, his head cocking to the side appreciatively. Light spilled across the room with the sun setting behind him, igniting a halo around his silhouette.
βThere,β he said softly. βNow they can watch over you, even when Iβm not here.β
She watched this ritual with a heart, aΒ whole ofΒ words left unspoken.Β HisΒ simple acts of love were transformative, like a painter adding color to a canvas that had been stark and barren. Each sunflower was a guardian of their story, a silent witness to the gravity of the heartβs invisible pull.
She wondered, as she often did, how she had become the muse to his sun-drenched soul. On the surface, they were contrasts β a girl who walked in shadows and a boy who chased the light. Yet, Minhyuk had seen something in her, something worth illuminating with the steady fire of his spirit.
She rose, drifting to where he stood by the window and wrapped her arms around his waist from behind. Minhyukβs stiffened surprise melted as he felt her cheek against his back, her breath warm through the fabric of his shirt.
βYou know,β she said, her voice barely above a whisper, βeach of these flowers carries a bit of sunshine, but none outshine the one who brings them to me.β
Something shifted at her words, a moment stretching into an infinity. It was a quiet surrender, a softening of the soul as their stories slowly braided into one. She felt him relax, his hand covering hers, an unspoken vow lingering in the air.
Day after day, sunflower after sunflower, they were building more than a collection of moments. They were cultivating a love from the earth, reaching for the sky β unfettered, wild, and eternally blooming in a vase by the window.
