For those of you that may have just finished watching Cory Booker’s record-breaking senate speech and are inspired to “get in good trouble”, you have a great opportunity for it this Saturday!

On April 5th, numerous advocacy groups are banding together into one nation-wide rally that will be held in major cities all over the country - you can easily find a participating location here!

I’ll be volunteering as a safety captain at my own local rally, and I encourage all of you to go out there too and get in some good trouble as well!

for the record when I say a lot of major cities I mean a LOT of major cities :P

we love what we have by Mosab Abu Toha

[ID: text: “We Love What We Have” by Mosab Abu Toha

We love what we have, no matter how little, because if we don’t, everything will be gone. If we don’t, we will no longer exist, since there will be nothing here for us. What’s here is something that we are still building. It’s something we cannot yet see, because we are part of it. Someday soon, this building will stand on its own, while we, we will be the trees that protect it from the fierce wind, the trees that will give shade to children sleeping inside or playing on swings.

Fucking wild to be teaching about Rosa Parks at the same time as a trans woman in Florida does an act of civil disobedience to use a women's restroom in the state capitol

As far as I know, she is the first woman arrested bc of this law. The law requires that the trans person be warned to leave the bathroom by a state official, and then if they stay they are guilty of trespassing after a warning.

So like, me, my gf, others just piss and nobody asks or tells, but this young woman sent a statement about the law to over 100 FL lawmakers so they would know she was coming, the cops were ready for her, she brought a reporter and went in anyway and spent the night in a men's jail. She is out on bail, and is hoping this will inspire change of the law. But if found guilty, and the law is upheld as constitutional, then she could spend up to 60 days in a mens county jail.

[Text ID: The Trans Agenda is to Keep My F*cking Friends Alive by sol rios

At 2pm and 2am. Sleep, I remember you. Please, wait for me. I send out 7 reminders to eat a day. Like little paper lifeboats. It's nothing. And it keeps me afloat. I forget to eat too. I need company for my shot. 3ml of Estradiol over facetime. I tell my friend I'm being a baby about it, she says woman up. Daylight savings swallows up the hour in question. I was going to sit in the bathtub until you responded. And I need you to keep you alive for me. Just until Thursday. Just through to 6 am. I can send you 14 dollars for soup. I can lend you my ears. You'll need both hands to hold a heart. Your razor clinking against the counter. In a dream I almost slip into, I reach through the phone and hide the blade in my open palm, before you notice. Text me, I say, in the morning. I love you. I need you alive. We can figure out the rest tomorrow. With or without sleep. With or without the light of the morning.

Happy Spring to the truest thing that’s ever been said about Spring

It's always so weird to come down from the biology heavens to see what the average person believes about animals, plants, ecosystems, just the world around them. I don't even mean things that one simply doesn't know because they've never been told or things that are confusing, I'm talking about people who genuinely do not see insects as animals. What are you saying. Every time I see a crawling or fluttering little guy I know that little guy has motivations and drive to fulfill those motivations. There are gears turning in their head! They are perceiving this world and they are drawing conclusions, they are conscious. And yet it's still a whole thing if various bugs of the world feel pain or if they are simply Instinct Machines that are Not Truly Aware of Anything At All????? Help!!!!!! How can you look at a little guy and think he is just the macroscopic animal version of a virus

Vintage newspaper article

"Pick him up and look at his eyes, and perhaps you will no longer wonder that it was said that every toad had a jewel in his head; you may be willing to admit that every toad has two jewels in his head, when you look with appreciation at those dark, lustrous orbs with their rings of powdered gold. And that skin, which once you feared to touch, you will find on careful examination to be beautifully marked and tinted. The beauty was there all the time, but the evil of superstition had hidden it from your view."

ID: An old newspaper clipping featuring a sketch of a toad sat among grass and pebbles and labeled "Beautiful Mr. Toad." More text reads, "The naturalist finds many points in him to admire. Silly superstition has blinded the eyes of many to the splendid dress and conduct of the gardener's friend." Beautiful Mr. Toad. /end ID]"

I know it's not reasonable to expect every visual artist to also have a good grasp of prose, but I do appreciate it when the screen-reader description is just as horny as the art it's describing.

gif of my friend's cat

[ID: an animated gif drawn in simple black and white lines of a cat curled up on a person’s lap. The cat starts as a perfectly round ball, then raises its head, turns to the viewer, and yawns. The cat’s yawning mouth stretches to nearly the size of its entire body before the cat closes its mouth, turns around, and goes back to sleep. The gif then repeats seamlessly. End ID]
