I like how in the prologue of KCD1, Runt mentions that he doesnā€™t know any fancy words, unlike his chief. So I imagine him listening to Istvan and trying to memorize some clever things he says but failing every time šŸ˜¬

Also using Istvanā€™s design from kcd2 because itā€™s so peak

Fandom is so different now and itā€™s becoming un-fun with how quickly shit moves.

I just want to enjoy things. I donā€™t want to have to play a game of Artist-Race that seems to be afoot lately.

Yaā€™ll eat up fandoms, leave artists and writers bone dry and then move on so fucking quickly then fucking wonder where all the Good Fandom Stuff is.

Idk Maybe cherish some things for longer. Reblog stuff. Interact with people. Comment and share.

Fandom is Capitalism now and Iā€™m not being nuanced.

people also seem obsessed with only Doing Fandom about currently active works?

ā€œoh, Iā€™m so sad that show ended! I really miss the fandom!ā€ who said you have to leave, coward

Fun fact: You are part of keeping a fandom alive. Every interaction, every person in a fandom has their own part to play. If thatā€™s reblogging art, fanfics or making cursed edits, thatā€™s good enough.

Fandom is for community, not consumption.

Ok actually I have more to say about the Vengeance quest in kcd1 and what a neat little narrative game mechanic it is.

In every other rpg I've played main quests are exclusively handed out and driven by npcs. Vengeance, however, is a quest that Henry gives himself, and serves as a little window into his character motivations. At a couple points throughout the game the objectives change to match up with other main quests whenever they align with Henry's own goals. Investigating Neuhof becomes part of the questline when it turns out the bandit who stole his sword is involved. Investigating the counterfeit coin becomes part of the questline because the group responsible had a hand in razing Skalitz. Very rarely (if at all) does Vengeance put markers down on the map, usually those are covered by the other main quests it follows along with. But the quest sits there in the quest log the whole game as a reminder of the destruction of Skalitz, and of Henry's anger. I loooove how the quest is incompletable. Its not only a great tie in to a sequel game, but a way to mirror Henry's frustration with himself to the player. At the end of the game he still doesn't have his sword back, and still hasn't exacted revenge on the men who fucked up his home, and the player is left with a quest that literally cannot be completed by design. I've never seen a questline like this that is entirely driven by the player character! I think it's a really great example of how you can show a character's motivation and growth with much more than just dialogue, and I wish we could see more rpgs (and games of all genres tbh) utilize the medium in creative ways like this.
