truly understand why the writers initally wanted to keep foggy nelson out of daredevil born again completely bc there was only really two options. keep him in the story giving him screentime w matt in every episode as his partner and best friend and most important person OR killing him off and having the ghost of him in every episode. either way ppl r gonna go GAY??! I think they pondered this choice extensively and thought they were going for the lesser evil n yet we got lines about frogs mating for life and matt kissing foggy's picture. so.

I rewatched the opening scene and it was a...... choice..... for hector (on trial for being a vigilante) with a partner (his wife) who was upset with his choice to be a vigilante but still loved and supported him to talk about FROGS (toooooo close to foggy. like seriously. r we fr rn) mating for life to matt (a vigilante who lost his mate)

bro if foggy is alive / in witness protection I feel like it’s gonna parallel matt trying to stay out of foggy’s life in szn three. foggy had the chance to go back to nyc but he saw how “well” matt was doing (high paying job, a blossoming love life, finally out of Hell’s Kitchen, keeping the ‘devil’ inside and fighting with the law not his fists) and thought to himself oh….oh look how much better off his is without me (and perhaps lead to a conversation where they both realize they’re only truly happy when they’re in it together side by side, no matter how tough it gets)

this scene is crazy to me bc foggy SPECIFICALLY says “matt’s dating the office assistant”. the emphasis isn’t on karen, it’s on matt. foggy might not realize it (I think marci does) but it’s always about matt
even worse is that the only reason her relationship with foggy was able to flourish was because matt was out of foggy’s life (presumed dead). this is in no way trying to invalidate their relationship because they did love each other. BUT even with a beautiful gf, a great job, and a fancy apartment foggy tells his brother that “he doesn’t know who he is without matt” and isn’t really happy. and i think marci had mixed feelings about matt’s death. because of course she mourns for foggy, but a selfish part of her was probably glad she didn’t have to compete anymore. and i think those concerns were valid, because the second matt was back in foggy’s life he systematically tore apart his “new” life to fit matt back into it.
this is the face of someone who knows for foggy, it’ll always be matt

bro if netflix daredevil listened to his best friends heart stop beating at josie’s bar (a literal symbol of their relationship and they said they’d be there for better or worse and share everything) and he couldn’t do anything to stop it / save him…………………………..catastrophic crash out. no church or criminal would be safe (from his tears and fists respectively). I know a priest would hate to see him coming with a novella of guilt and heartbreak. the gym owners would start kicking him out you’re getting too much blood on things. probably at least five major bone breaks in the first week. a full three minute montage of him staring aimlessly into the distance while his senses that were so trained to foggy’s physiology would search for something that is not there, and never would be again
matt and foggy r so annoying bc they literally friendzoned each other. foggy was like dude ur really attractive and matt was uncomfortable so foggy backed off. matt got to know foggy and was like 'wait i'm in love lowkey' and told foggy that he's looking for a romantic partner that he really likes listening to, pulled foggy into an embrace, and called him strong. foggy, also lowkey in love, was completely oblivious/ignored these advances bc he didn't want to fumble the bag and ruin their friendship. they'd go on to do everything together (intern together, have a joint tab together, open a lawyer's practice together, walk to work every morning together) and foggy would say the most unhinged romantic shit while friendzoning matt even harder in the next breath. 'we'll share everything [...] i'm with you. for better or worse........ bc we r BUSINESS partners.' 'when matt was around, I knew who I was' matt on the other hand was bitter as hell bc the guy he was in love with kept saying said romantic shit and not meaning it the way he wanted him to. 'sounds like we're getting married' 'you're not going to kiss me, foggy'. these bitches r just so damn dumb
