Omar and Edvin are trying to figure out TikTok live right now and it’s the most chaotic thing I’ve ever seen. They’re furiously texting each other via laptop as they try to figure it out. They can’t figure out how to get both of them on live. Omar went to Twitter and Edvin’s not surprised. Edvin has never been live on TikTok and does not understand the gifts. Omar went off live and said he’d be back in 20 seconds, it took ten minutes.

“Do battle” says the chat, to which Edvin responds “what the fuck is battle?”

They figured it out but they can’t hear each other. Their friends have found the live and are now texting them. Their cameras keep going dark.

I’m literally cackling I can’t.

OK, I got tagged in a bunch of things, but I haven’t been using Tumblr for the past week so I will get caught up with that later today 💕 so I’m not ignoring you if you tagged me!!!!

How to Make Your Characters Almost Cry

Tears are powerful, but do you know what's more impactful? The struggle to hold them back. This post is for all your hard-hearted stoic characters who'd never shed a tear before another, and aims to help you make them breakdown realistically.

The Physical Signs of Holding Back Tears

  • Heavy Eyelids, Heavy Heart Your character's eyelids feel weighted, as if the tears themselves are dragging them down. Their vision blurs—not quite enough to spill over, but enough to remind them of the dam threatening to break.
  • The Involuntary Sniffle They sniffle, not because their nose is running, but because their body is desperately trying to regulate itself, to suppress the wave of emotion threatening to take over.
  • Burning Eyes Their eyes sting from the effort of restraint, from the battle between pride and vulnerability. If they try too hard to hold back, the whites of their eyes start turning red, a telltale sign of the tears they've refused to let go.
  • The Trembling Lips Like a child struggling not to cry, their lips quiver. The shame of it fuels their determination to stay composed, leading them to clench their fists, grip their sleeves, or dig their nails into the nearest surface—anything to regain control.
  • The Fear of Blinking Closing their eyes means surrender. The second their lashes meet, the memories, the pain, the heartbreak will surge forward, and the tears will follow. So they force themselves to keep staring—at the floor, at a blank wall, at anything that won’t remind them of why they’re breaking.

The Coping Mechanisms: Pretending It’s Fine

  • A Steady Gaze & A Deep Breath To mask the turmoil, they focus on a neutral object, inhale slowly, and steel themselves. If they can get through this one breath, they can get through the next.
  • Turning Away to Swipe at Their Eyes When they do need to wipe their eyes, they do it quickly, casually, as if brushing off a speck of dust rather than wiping away the proof of their emotions.
  • Masking the Pain with a Different Emotion Anger, sarcasm, even laughter—any strong emotion can serve as a shield. A snappy response, a bitter chuckle, a sharp inhale—each is a carefully chosen defence against vulnerability.

Why This Matters

Letting your character fight their tears instead of immediately breaking down makes the scene hit harder. It shows their internal struggle, their resistance, and their need to stay composed even when they’re crumbling.

This is written based off of personal experience as someone who goes through this cycle a lot (emotional vulnerability who?) and some inspo from other books/articles

In this scene Simon and Wille go to mariebergs valborg event

—————-

They arrive when the party is in full swing, it’s already dark and the flames from the bonfire on the lakeshore roar and crackle and spark, illuminating the surrounding and the crowd of teenagers in flickering glowing light. Simon is glad they came later because no one really notices them when they approach.

“Are you okay?” Wille asks at his side, touching his arm.

Simon wants to take his hand, but he feels self conscious and he hates that he feels that way. Hates that he wouldn’t feel that way with someone else and hates how it feels as though he’s taking a step back into a closet that he had never actually been in before. It’s so unfair and stupid that he feels this way with a person who he loves more than anything when he’d been carefree about showing affection with people he had dated in the past.

Hell. He’d been open in public with fucking Marcus.

Swallowing and gritting his teeth he ignores the voice in his head, says fuck you to that voice and reaches down to take Wille’s hand, squeezing tightly, “I’m okay.” He says trying to give him a reassuring smile.

Wilhelm squeezes back, “It’s okay. I’m here.”

He breathes out through his nose and smiles a bit, to himself really, feeling relieved that Wilhelm seems to understand without him having to say it.

Ayub waves when he sees them and Simon sucks up the last of his nerves and leads Wilhelm over. He’s standing with Rosh who has her hand around a dark haired girls waist. Simon also recognizes several of his friends from Marieberg days with them.

Malin is lingering in the background, scanning over the heads but she stays back and no one really seems to notice her.

When they approach the group Ayub raises his hand in greeting, meanwhile Rosh just stares at Wilhelm, taking a sip from her beer.

“Hey Simme.” Ayub says leaning forward to give him a one armed hug. He pulls back and looks over to Wille, nodding.

“Hey man.”

Wilhelm takes a step closer to Simon and gives a small, awkward smile as the rest of the groups attention turns to them. “Hi.”

“Been a while.” Rosh remark, taking another sip.

Simon doesn’t miss the way. Wille’s eyes move over to her, lingering momentarily on the intimate way she and the other girl are pressed together. Yasmina watches him with a bored expression, before looking down at her acrylics and pushing her long, thick hair over her shoulder.

“Yeah it..has been a long time.” His boyfriend replies and Simon narrows his eyes at his friend trying to telepathically tell her to be nice.

“Hi Yasmina…um how are you?” He’s only met the other girl a few times and they’ve never really clicked, but if he wants Rosh to be nice to his ex then he has to compromise a little doesn’t he.

She shrugs, pursing her lips, “The same but it’s cool to see you. A lot has changed since you left Marieberg didn’t it.”

It’s at this moment he hears a snort and when he looks over a tall blond is grinning at them. Immediately Simon’s face lights up as the boy opens his arms for a hug. “Henke!”

“Simme!” He grins, “how is it going? It’s been forever.”

Simon knows Henke from his brief time in the choir at Marieberg, Henke, or Henrik, was always nice and easy to get along with and he had joined their group a few times once they had realized his girlfriend, Daniella, was on the same football team with Rosh.

At his side Wilhelm coughs and he pulls back, “Oh right, so yeah..uh this Wilhelm. Wilhelm this is Henrik, but we call him Henke.”

“Hey man.” Henke smiles, waving and Wilhelm looks between them before he nods.

If Simon didn’t know better he would think that Wilhelm seemed a little threatened, which is ridiculous, but also kind of endearing and Simon laughs softly begin his hand and nods to the girl at Henke’s side, “And this is Henke’s girlfriend, Daniella, by the way it’s nice to see you again.” He turns toward her and smiles a bit.

At his words Wille seems to relax a bit, “Oh…hi.”

“Hey you.” She smiles and leans forward to hug him too and then nods to his boyfriend, “Wilhelm.”

Wilhelm seems much more relaxed now that the others seem to not have bat an eye at his presence.

“So. I would ask what’s been up with you since you left Marieberg but—“ Henke grins at him and Simon snorts.

“Oh all you need to do is read Hänt Extra and you can learn everything about me.”

“Thought so. So it’s true that you guys eloped in secret and that Simon is going to be the new Prince Consort then?”

Next to him Wilhelm snorts.

“Yea totally because I think getting married at 16 is a completely rational thing to do.” Simon says with a nod.

“Yeah it totally is so let me know where to send your wedding gift.” Henrik says seriously, “Congratulations to both of you.”

“Yeah thanks. Simon’s been hoping for a new toaster.” His boyfriend says and everyone in the group chuckles including Yasmina who usually is wearing a sour face.

Henke looks over at Wilhelm and then to Simon, “You guys want something to drink?”

Wilhelm looks to him and he shrugs, “Not for me, but if you want something go ahead.”

Henke goes to grab Wilhelm a beer and a soda for Simon from the cooler and while he’s gone they strike up a conversation with Daniella about the hot gossip at Marieberg, Rosh joining in when they get to the topic of some of the football girls.

Ayub hangs back and nudges him, “So it’s not that bad huh?” Simon sighs in relief as he watches Wilhelm talking with the others, his movements more animated now that he’s grown more comfortable.

Henrik comes back with the drinks and another familiar face and Simon has to fight the urge to groan when Rahim smirks at him.

“Hi Simon.” The boy grins, a hand on his hip and waving at him, “Nice to see you again.”

He doesn’t hate Rahim. They had never really hung out, but Rahim was always one of the popular kids, one of the “fun gays” as a particularly annoying classmate of theirs had said once.

He was trendy, good looking, outgoing, funny and outspoken, friends with all the “it” girls in their year, whereas Simon was just considered “weird”. Far be it from Simon to judge how anyone expresses themselves or their sexuality but he personally had been so tired of being compared to him, as two of the only “out” boys in their class. He had been tired of people telling him they were surprised he was gay because he “didn’t act like it.”

He doesn’t really know why Rahim is suddenly coming up to him like they’ve always been old friends, but as he watches the boy's eyes flicker towards his boyfriend he gets the feeling he knows why.

“And you must be Wilhelm.” His smile is saccharine as he steps closer to them putting a hand on his chest, “I have to tell you. I was so touched by your speech. It was really brave.”

Wilhelm immediately seems to grow a bit uncomfortable, tensing slightly at his side. Simon catches how Rosh’s and Daniella’s eyes snap to himself and he looks back at them with a raised eyebrow. Ayub and Henrik of course seem completely oblivious as they sip their drinks and watch the bonfire.

“Oh um…thank you?” Wilhelm says awkwardly.

“Personally I think it’s a blessing to have someone like you in a leadership positio—“ Simon can see the way Rosh mimes gagging and would usually laugh if he wasn’t so focused on how close Rahim is leaning towards his boyfriend.

“Someone like me?” Wille says sounding confused and Rahim nods emphatically.

“Yeah of course you know— someone gay.”

“Oh.” Wilhelm frowns, “I'm not—well I don’t really know if I would say I’m gay.”

They had never really talked about this, Simon knows that Wilhelm is comfortable with his sexuality and he knows that he never doubted his feelings for him. But Wilhelm has never really labeled himself and it doesn’t matter to Simon anyway so it had never really been a point of conversation between the two of them. Wilhelm had told him he wasn’t the first boy he had been attracted to, but he was the first Wilhelm ever acted on those feelings for and that was that.

Rahim however raises an eyebrow, “Oh? Bi then?”

Wilhelm seems to think about it and then frowns, “I don’t really…I don’t know. I don’t really want to label myself right now, I mean I know how I feel and that’s…” he shrugs.“That’s just how it is.”

“Well that’s fine too.” Rahim grins, “But in any case it’s cool that our Crown Prince is queer.” Simon feels his stomach twist when the other boy puts a hand on Wilhelm's arm.

His boyfriend takes a step back, posture stiff, “Well. Thank you…for your support.”

Stepping in, Simon slides his arm into Wille’s and smiles sharply at Rahim. “Yes, thanks for supporting us.”

Rahim looks him over and Simon feels his eyes slide over him critically, his clothes and shoes and hair, the other boy smirks a bit before taking a step back.

“So.” Rahim then turns back to Simon with a keen eye, “I heard you were dating Marcus for a bit.”

Wille freezes and he himself tenses up, eyes widening as he tries to collect his thoughts, “Uh no? We were never really dating. Like we hung out a few times—-“

“But you hooked up right?”

Simon feels his stomach turn, looking over at Wilhelm who has gone still and silent.

“No?” He frowns, “Where did you even hear that?”

Rahim blinks, opens his mouth as if he’s about to say something and then goes quiet. “Oh nowhere.”

Mermaids mermaids mermaids?? 👀

Eeeeee so this started out as a fic for another fandom but I can’t write anything but wilmon lol so I reworked it it’s modern day lol basically Wille is a merman? Merboy? Lolol who starts secretly going to the surface and eventually meets Simon who lives on the island.

Oh yeah it takes place in the archipelago there’s like 2000 islands there but Simon’s family lives there and they run a restaurant that’s really only profitable during tourist season.

I think Wille can shapeshift to human tbh and I think he also gets injured at some point so Simon had to take care of him.

—————

The ocean was his home, dark and cold and beautiful. It kept them safe, wrapped around him like the caress of a mother, hiding them from the dangers of the surface. His people were the ancient ocean dwellers humans now believed to be only legends. But they were real, had always been real, had been hidden and forgotten in the dark depths of their mother ocean. Still for some reason Wilhelm had always felt a pull to the surface.

He had stared up as the bright glittering gems of light filtering through the waters for so long dreaming of what could be beyond the world he knew. The ocean seemed to stretch on forever, but even that did not seem big enough to him. The elders had strict rules regarding how far the young ones could go from their caverns, and even stricter rules on how close to the surface they were allowed.

The ones who inhabited the surface world were cruel they said, were vicious and corrupt and would hunt them down if they ever were to find them. The first time they had found him drifting too close, he had been punished, but it was their warnings that he would be run through on a giant hook, his tail chopped off and eaten that had scared him away from trying again.

As he slept he had dreamed of beasts with shadowy figures and gleaming eyes, stalking towards him, reaching for him, pulling off his scales one by one. It had kept him from braving another trip closer.

But the pull was still inside him and eventually the fear settled into the far corners of his mind, no longer strong enough to keep him away. He would swim until he could see the lights, watch them dance across the surface and wonder how anything that terrible could inhabit a world of such beauty.

When he was a little older he decided he had to know what lay beyond the water. He had to see it with his own eyes to satisfy his curiosity, maybe he could put this to rest if he only could see it. Just once and he would be fine.

So he swam further up than he ever had before, until he was right below the surface where the water met the lights and he could see blue, blue, blue. It took all his courage to push himself that last few bits, until the water broke over his head.

The first thing that shocked his senses was the loss of water and how dry and strange everything felt. His eyes hurt from the brightness, and he kept them closed tightly until he could open them without being blinded. When they finally adjusted and he could see, a gasp escaped his lip, because it was so much more than he could have ever thought or imagined.

did i already send an ask i'd like titanic please

Avatar

hehe well maybe not so surprisingly this is a titanic au lol like with the movie kind of but changed alot of plot details and stuff to fit. basically Wille is crossing with his cousin and some member of the royal Swedish court on the titanic as maiden voyage lol yay 🫠

Hes supposed to be headed to America to study and diplomacy etc etc but he’s dreading it and daydreams about running away and disappearing out west once the boat docks bc he hates being a prince and he’s like his family’s disappointment and that’s really why they are sending him away in his opinion and august is there to watch over him lol

Anyway he meets Simon who is a singer (think like rowdy bar in the time period Lucy gray covey vibes) who won tickets with his band mates and wants to go to New York for a better life/more money. Simon grew up in Sweden lol so that’s kind of how they first meet—Wille overhears him talking shit about him and the other rich people and Wille falls pretty hard

Them running around and sneaking around the ship and falling in love and telling them all their heart deepest desires and august finds out about them and shit happens and then of course tragedy strikes 😭

—————

It’s hopeless.

Even as he struggles with the metal handcuffs, his heart racing as the ice cold water begins to soak into his shoes, the porthole submerged underneath the water level already. He knows it’s helpless.

He’s going to die.

He’s going to die here in this empty room. All alone. He’s going to die with ice cold seawater in his lungs with the bottom of the ocean his grave and this hulking monster of steel, his coffin.

Oh god. He’s going to die.

Simon tries one last time to pull himself out of the lock, sees the shock of red blood that wells and drips down his wrist. There’s nothing here. No tool he can use to wrench the metal open or cut his hand from his arm. It’s hopeless.

He falls against the wall, feels the freezing ocean push back and puts his free hand over his eyes as he feels all of his strength escape him, the adrenaline he had been running on fading until he feels empty and hollow inside. His eyes sting as tears build, but he bites his lip and doesn’t cry. He breathes carefully, in and out, knowing these could be his last and he thinks of Wille.

He prays that he survives. Prays that he manages to get in one of the lifeboats, August said was waiting for their family. Simon thinks of all of the things they want to do, thinks of docking in New York City, of taking a train out west and disappearing somewhere where no one will ever find them and be able to tell them how they can or cannot live.

He hopes to God that Wille does all of those things.

The ship makes a frightening sound, the sound of metal straining and its all around him, the water level is rising, already to his ankles. Simon drops his hand and stares at the white metal ceiling.

He can’t be sure he’s hearing properly. The sound of water and metal is loud, but then he hears again what sounds like a voice.

A voice he feels like he recognizes.

No.

Incredulous he feels the ice creep into his veins, his heart racing as he hears it again.

“Simon!”

It really is him. What is he doing here? Is he insane? Is he stupid?

“Simon!”

With a gasp he shouts in reply, “Wille?! Wille, I'm here!”

It’s only a few seconds before the other man tears around the corner, into the room and Simon stares at him with wide eyes, at his wet clothes and the wild look in his eyes.

“Simon!” Wille’s eyes go immediately to where his wrist is locked against the metal bar and he curses. “What—“

But Simon feels a kind of panicked rage well up in him at the sight of him here, actually here. “what the fuck are you doing here?!” He yells, voice breaking slightly, “You idiot! August said there was a boat for you you should be gone by now! Leave now you have to go, they’ll have another—-“

“August?” Wille sounds confused but he is crossing over to him, sloshing through the water, shaking his head. “Simon no”

“Go! Leave now! You have to—“ his voice feels wild. God he needs him to understand. This isn’t a game. If he doesn’t leave immediately Wille is going to…

“You’re going to die, Wilhelm! You have to go back now!”

And then the other hand is on his cheek, thumb gently resting on his cheekbone and Simon looks up at him, into his warm brown eyes and feels his heart breaking.

“Not without you.” Wille smiles at him and it’s what finally breaks him. He feels the tears come, hot, blinding him as the other presses their foreheads together and he can hear his breath coming quickly.

“You idiot.” He whispers, voice breaking into a sob.

“We are going to survive this Simon.” His voice sounds so sure, so strong. “We are going to California. We are going to live in a house near the ocean and start a vineyard and raise chickens just like we said we would, okay?”

He laughs thickly through his tears, nodding. “Okay.”

Wille strokes his cheeks and then he kisses him hard and desperate and Simon grasps onto him. When the other pulls back Simon looks at him and then down at his wrist with a bitter twist of his lips.

“I don’t think I’m going anywhere Wille.” He says.

Wille takes a step back fishing for something in his jacket pocket and Simon’s eyes widen in surprise when he pulls out a pistol, August's pistol. “I took it from him.” He says in explanation and points it at the cuff…”I’m a good shot.” Simon hears the subtle shake in his tone despite the confidence.

Simon swallows shakily and pulls back as far as he can, looking away with his eyes shut tight, the shot fires through the air and when he looks back, he sees with a rush of relief and surprise that it’s been shot clean off. Pulling his wrist back he runs at it and looks at Wille with a breathless expression. “Damn…”

They reach for each other, grasping tightly as Simon presses kisses into his hair and his cheek and his jaw. “We really really have to go or we will be trapped in here.” He gasps and feels Wilhelm nod. The other man is shaking,

They enter the corridor and there’s so much water now, it’s nearly up to his knees making the push through to find a stairwell up to the higher decks a grueling tiresome fight.
