garlic requires you get every little clove out of its package by destroying it and carefully nip off every single root and tip and you need to do this like 10 times in order to actually taste it. ginger requires you peel it, and it is a very irregularly-shaped item with many tiny nubs on it making fully getting off the skin pretty difficult, and then you finally do cut it and it's full of horrendous tiny fibers that just turn it into a pulpy mess you can't reduce any further. amazing combination of flavors, absolutely awful to assemble
