Two lovers have reincarnated throughout history, destined to find each other and fall in love all over again. There’s also this third guy that reincarnates alongside them… we don’t really know what he does.

Misa amane isnt funny. A sense of humor depends on each person thats why it's the hardest when aurhors write comedy. Look at the guy getting punched by will smith. Not all the jokes will have buyers. Misa is secondly the most favorite character of the author (aka mary sue). Thats why she never dies onscreen, despite she halved her lifespan twice. She gets away w/ her murders in the tv show, in the musicals, etc etc. Shes over sexualized by the anime studio - on demand of tsugumi, because he created her jus' in order for fanservice. She acts childish all the time and its dangerous when you think about the crimes against children. Shes a poser, shes from kyoto but she uses the tokyo accent - that partly is a fault of aya hirano. Ayas voice is really terrible, i prefer the eng dub or the manga itself lol. She can't speak there - you have the mute option always anyways. The manga is much more beautiful - when compared. I hate misa because shes an annoying chick, not that i prefer lxlight. I think L should get misa so my light could be free . i ship him with kiyomi and mikami and yuri altogether. So what? Don't "misas backstory" me. Not everyone has to agree with her just because she saw her parents getting murdered. You know what? Not all the people go thru traumas and go be an idol. Grow up people. This chick is the epitome of mary sue and misogyny. This has nothing to do with lawlight.

in school I used to wear fake glasses while doing writing assignments so that the teachers would think I was smarter and grade my tests higher (this actually worked, for the record)

this kind of backfired in a pavlovian way because now I literally have to put on a pair of glasses and activate Smart Mode when I write anything longer than a few paragraphs

it's just very fortunate that "I can't write without my glasses" is an honest statement that doesn't raise any eyebrows

Surprise! Tumblr just got turned into an epic fantasy RPG, just like [your favorite appropriate media franchise]. And the Tumblr RPG's plot needs to have all of its characters covered, in roles both large and small.

That means that you are assigned to a stereotypical RPG role inside our new fantasy world. Spin this wheel to find out what you are now doing for a living.

Kind of ironic I got oracle

And yet when I spun it a second time I got it yet again

I can not speak in rhyme though

That would be a debacle

Anyone know if there’s any dn fics where Light successfully gets L to no longer suspect him so L leaves but eventually gets suspicious enough to return and suspect him again?

@ira-sairain I’ll take any recs you got

I really liked prisoners by trash king(Vanya_deyja) when I read it a few years ago. It's completed

There's some where Light joins interpol but I don't really remember the names 😔

Oh wait it's lawlight though. Dk if you mind the ship or not.

Lolll I don't feel like they're that controversial(l and light met at uni so he must have been at 18 by then) especially when it's more about maturity/mentality than anything. Light is the only genius L ever saw an equal in and vice versa. At that point she kinda goes out the window(within certain bounds ofc).

If you want a fic with the best lawlight I've ever read, I'd recommend Time speaks by asmallmoon33. Fenomenal writing and plot. Really long but totally worth it.

In Their Blood

-by yours truly

*prepares a convincing speech on why you should read my lawlight fic*

*stand with my notes in front of a carefully designed PowerPoint*

*the computer crashes*

*my notes scatter*

*I leave the stage in dejected but expected shame*

Anyways here's my lawlight fic:

It's another one of those stories where Light joins politics, set as a canon divergence by one small act that deviates his career path when he realizes how much more he can do being a politician (and a legislator, for now) instead of a cop.

Not that serious of a fic, It won't be too political, only the basics.

It's not really good but it would mean the world to me if you commented what you thought about it and how I could improve. Criticism very welcome!!!

mariah carey is nearly defrosted and they're playing christmas music in shopping malls

My family never took it down. We did just add the star again this week tho

"Overthrow and kill the gods" is a fun premise but it only ever seems to be executed with a hackneyed "What if people could be racist towards robots" level of social commentary.

Too many of these stories hit the embarrassing narrative pitfalls of "if we just kill the king bad guy everything will be fine." Or god forbid "Robot Martin Luther King Jr. Has solved racism forever."

Me when I've never played a jrpg

This may come as a shock, but sometimes video games have bad writing.

the issue is that killing god could be act 1 of the story and it usually is not

Act 1:

  • Kill god (not that hard in the grand scheme of things.)

Act 2:

  • Come back to a godless earth and discover that the presence of a god was in fact holding everything together so a LOT of things are weird as fuck.
  • Explore the new laws of physics (they are unpredictable. Not because they don't follow regular rules—though they really don't—but because they are constantly changing at equally unpredicatble rates.)

Act 3:

  • You need to find a new god. Obviously, or else everything will continue to break down similar to a video game with no rules set in place. Reality is seeming more like some kind of digital hallucination as time goes on.
  • Obviously you are not the best candidate (lore will reveal why, I'm sure, but even that is getting hard to remember. The laws of EVERYTHING are breaking down, so can you really trust your own memories?)
  • Your vision isn't quite working right so you need to act quickly before reality becomes so muddled that a fix is impossible.

Act 4:

  • Are these acts getting longer as time goes on, or are you experiencing time in a way that doesn't make sense to a human mind? Is time still linear? Is anything linear? Could you move through space in a similarly disorganised fashion?
  • Of course you can, though you can't control it. You're not moving of your own accord anymore, now that you think about it. There's something controlling you, taking the reigns and pushing you through space and time and memories.
  • You're being combined with something, and it's only obvious because your vision is splitting and recombining to form new shapes and geomatries that you couldn't comprehend before. Are you at the end? Are you too late?
  • You aren't you anymore. You are, but you can feel an influence. You can hear an influence. Is someone there?

Act 5:

  • You can hear me now. That's good. You always could, I've been narrating, but now you know it's not just that.
  • No, there isn't someone there. The personal pronoun thing is more of a formality, really.
  • Why did you think you weren't qualified? Is it because of your mistakes? Or because of your human qualities? Were you convinced you would find someone out there with more of a heart to be a god?
  • Well, you're wrong. There is no qualified person. Honestly, if that were the case, you'd be among the least. No offense.
  • Let's get rid of these.

What you're feeling now is the process beginning again. You chose this path on your own, so don't try to stop it or deny it—though stopping is impossible by this point. You cannot come kill god without facing the consequences.

Your hubris is what makes you the right material for a god. Right, if that wasn't obvious already, that's what's going on. Think of it as uploading yourself to the cosmos. Not your consciousness as you'd probably think, but your rules. The rules are stored inside of everyone. And now the rules are being reinstated. Things can never go back to how they were, though. You made sure of that.

This has happened before. More times than you are capable of comprehending for now. You're just one in a long line, and I the one who came before. You killed my physicality, yes, but I remain as a concept of sorts. Time doesn't have one beginning, it has many. Your time has been destroyed for now. Don't worry, it never existed in a way that matters anyway.

You're about to, though.

Can you feel me slipping away? Can you feel me being replaced by you? Nothing new is entering you, but you're entering everything else. It's an empty existence. But maybe filling spacetime is enough to keep you going. You don't have a choice. Don't give up.

Have you ever been afraid not to exist? I think it's my time to let go. I think I'm okay with this.

Build something good.

Build something as good as what built you.

Try to guide them. You'll thank me later.

And thank you.

Act 6:

  • Be god (not that hard in the grand scheme of things.)

You seem to know a lot about Dick, so here's my question: Is Dick Grayson Romani? Now, this is something at least FIVE people bullied me for on Twitter and it was horrifying. What I said was that bringing people down because they thought Dick was white is horrible because: a. DC doesn't give two fucks about him being Romani and b. They draw him white as a loaf of bread because of a. And they called me a racist for this. I am, by the way, a real PoC who lives in Middle East. +

+ I also said something like “Matt Bomer” could play him (even though it’s not a good fancast imo) or that I understood why people immediately cast Matt Bomer as him. This has been bugging me for a while because they were really, really mean and I want to know if I’m missing something here. For all I know, Dick Grayson is a white male who’s mostly drawn identical to Bruce (looks more like him than his son) that was written as Romani in some issues because: circus = Romani. which is toxic.

Welcome to the fandom. The irony is that most PoC I talk to feel the same way as you. I feel that Dick Grayson is for all intents and purposes a white character. I’ve covered it extensively in [this post]. The truth is, Dick Grayson only has 5 or so comics that really focus on him being “Romani,” and in all of these comics, it’s approached with A) harmful stereotypes and B) Dick being ignorant of the culture himself.

Dick could still be part Romani, but considering he’s treated as a white character inside comics and outside comics, he’s white passing if anything. It’s common in the United States to have diverse ancestry, yet to be ignorant of that ancestry and still have white privilege, which would describe Dick Grayson under this retcon with how he’s written. So no, I wouldn’t say he’s a PoC, and people who get self-righteous and bully other people over this really need to take five steps back and think about the implications of what they’re saying, because this attitude can be harmful to both PoC and PoC representation. Pushing white characters as PoC often distracts from the successes of real PoC characters. Until Dick is actually written from this culture’s perspective, we only have a handful of outdated racist comics to fall back on.

Since you mentioned the toxic “circus = Romani” trope, let me bring up a recent interview by Devin Grayson from [this book], since she’s the writer who made Dick Grayson part Romani.

Devin Grayson has the right idea when she says that “not assuming that all superheroes are white Europeans is important.” The problem is that her ignorance shines through everywhere else.

For starters, she’s admitting that she made Dick Romani due to this carnie trope, which she cites as “fictional evidence" and why she doesn’t consider her own retcon a retcon.

“In any case, I did a lot of research into both circus and Romani culture (which is how I came across that connection in the first place).”

Funny, because from all the research I’ve done about the Romani culture, I never came across this “circus” connection. The only time I ever came close was by specifically looking up Romani culture on Google with key words like “carnie” and “circus,” and even then, I’ve only found vague allusions and nothing concrete. Despite all of the “research” Devin Grayson said she did, the terminology she used within her comics was pretty offensive.

Devin Grayson then goes on to justify Dick as Romani through his “scrappiness,” through this “chip on his shoulder,” through his parents’ “occupation,” through Dick being “hot blooded” and she even refers to Dick’s economic status as a way to justify his “otherness.” She is validating Dick’s racial status through harmful and even racist stereotypes that this culture already faces frequently.

Devin Grayson then goes on to say that Dick’s racial status gives the people who “lust after him a potential cultural excuse for feeling bewitched” by him. Which is the icing on the cake. I’ve seen people, including myself, speculating for years that Devin Grayson only made Dick Romani because it’s ~exotic~ and here we have it straight from her. Dick being Romani is a cultural excuse for people to be bewitched by him and to lust after him. She’s reducing a culture to its sex appeal, which is incredibly ignorant and harmful.

Beyond all that, though, ignoring how inherently racist this entire thing is, Devin Grayson describes Dick as “someone who is white but other” meaning that even within the Romani retcon itself, Dick Grayson is not PoC. If you consider that [Dick is entirely ignorant of this culture], then there’s no reason to consider him anything other than white with some diverse ancestry.

Finally, Devin says,

“I don’t know that I’d say having a Romani superhero is important as much as I’d say not assuming that all white superheroes are Europeans is important.”

I agree with the sentiment being expressed here. It’s the only thing in this interview that I really think Devin got right. At the same time, the vibe I get from this sentence is that she doesn’t care about portraying the Romani culture itself. Dick could have been literally any minority race in order to give her that cultural excuse; it’s just that Romani worked the best, because that culture is already romanticized with circus culture.

This entire retcon has only ever been harmful to Romani people. The fact that Dick was only made Romani because of a circus stereotype and the exoticism and sex appeal it would give him leaves a really bad taste in my mouth. I get that we want to promote diversity in comics, but this is not the kind of diversity we want. Dick Grayson was an exclusively white character until this retcon, but everything in his canon history that makes him “Romani” is steeped in racism and harmful stereotypes. I think the fandom needs to either push DC to properly represent Romani culture for once or else seriously consider letting this go.

I love that 9/10 times in Batfam fics if Stephanie Brown isn't a main plot point of the story shes just… side questing. Like, shell appear for a few minutes in a Tim centered fic and then dip because she needs to go collect raw honey for something, or shell pop in during a damian and bruce fic and tell bruce to go fuck himself and that his smoothies taste awful and then fuck off to go drink tequila from a drain pipe, like, she is always doing the craziest shit when its not a steph centered fic, writers will just throw her in doing some random ass side quests and honestly, i love that for her. It is what she would want, i feel like.
