“sotr is mid because you already know how it ends” shut the fuck up, the point of the book is that despite knowing how it ends you would have never known what actually went down because that’s the point of propaganda, the whole book is about the power of propaganda

THIS is what gets me. i recently had the pleasure of rereading the passage from Catching Fire where katniss and peeta watch the 50th quell. the point is, the video they watch is identical to the video that haymitch watches after his games for the victory tour (?). and haymitch the entire time is like “this is NOT how it happened” and WE KNOW as readers that it is not how it happened because we just read the actual events of the games, and we know that snow has moved things around in order to make haymitch seem like the asshole tribute who didn’t care about anyone beside himself, which we know as not true.

THAT is the point of sotr (among many other things), that the government can control the propaganda no matter what happens and can make things seem not remotely close to what they actually are.

suzanne is a genius for setting this up because she had to have had this planned out SINCE actually writing catching fire because the video katniss and peeta watch is exactly the same as the one haymitch watches at the end of sotr.

reblog and put in the tags a fictional ship/couple where, in your opinion, they’re just so firmly each other’s that you cannot imagine them being shipped with anyone else
