It is important for us to stop measuring ourselves against the standards of this worldly life in order to feel better. For example you might be someone who is not "socially attractive" so you either try to change yourself or make yourself believe that looks don't matter but It's only for a while until you see someone who looks more attractive being treated better than you, you will feel disheartened again and again. Because looks do matter and pretty privilege does exist but something that is truly freeing is that you don't need that to reach your final destination - that is Jannah and Allah created you the way He did for a reason. Your looks will not take you to Jannah but the state of your heart will.
So stop measuring yourself against the standards of this world, you’ll only be free from insecurities when you TRULY realize that none of these matters.
So when we ask, "What can we do for the Palestinians?"
What can we do for them, if we can’t even wake up for فجر?
What can we do for them, if in our trivial trials, we can't have صبر?
What can we do for them, if we left the Qur'an right after Eid ul فطر?
What can we do for them, if we keep wasting time from قمر إلى قمر?
يصلح! يصلح!
Rectify! Rectify...
Let us fix ourselves first,
for how can we pour into others from an empty cup?
No day or night should pass without it (the Quran being recited) and that may be attained by reciting (only) a few verses.
[Imam an-Nawawi (rahimahullah) in al-Adhkaar, 1/255]
The righteous became righteous by guarding over their portion of the Qur'an. They never neglected it while you hardly pick it up. Don't you desire to know what you Lord is telling you?
When Allah tells you in the Qur’an that Shayṭān has no power over you that he only calls or invites pause and reflect on that truth. You can't ignore it. Accept it, and you’ll start watching your actions more closely. Every sin begins with a whisper, then a thought, then you dwell on it and eventually, you act. The Qur’an helps you see this process clearly and protects you from it.
Assalamualaikum. Last year, I started getting closer to Allah and by the end of the year my heart was full of peace and love for Allah. But this year things are progressing backwards horribly. Idk what's wrong with me but I just can't concentrate on Salah let alone do other forms of Ibadah. I feel so empty inside. I listen to the Quran and lectures, wake up in Tahajjud etc but no matter what I just don't feel that Allah is here. I don't know what is causing this
Waleikum Assalam WaRahmatullahi Wabarkatuhu!
Sometimes there are times in life when you feel like your imaan is low and you can’t focus or feel that closeness to Allah that you once did. One day it’s different and the other day its different and thats just how we humans are. Fluctuating imaan is a normal thing but you figuring this out yourself and feeling bad about it is a sign of Imaan too.
There are people who aren’t on the right path and they don’t even feel anything but this feeling is still better than being on the astray path, my dear.
If you can’t concentrate in your salah..when you pray try to go slow, focus on the words you are saying and realise the Greatness of Allah. Especially when you recite Surah Fatiha, focus on every word (thats what I do and I feel this too sometimes) and it makes me go weak. Especially when I say “Maliki yaum-iddin-“ - Master of the day of Judgement & “iyyakana budu wa iyyakanas ta-een” You alone we worship and to you alone we turn for help. Surah Fatiha is a game changer trust me on this. When you say Allah hu Akbar, don’t think about anything and just keep remembering Allah and how great he is and how nothing will ever be close to his greatness. In sha Allah, Allah will help you regaining your Khushu (focus) back in Salah and bless you!
Do Dhikr and lots of Istigfar. Let me tell you this happens with everyone and you don’t need to feel like you are alone in this or Allah isn’t close to you. He is close to you and he loves you or else he wouldn’t have given you a chance to remember him or think about him.
Remembering Allah itself is a sign of Imaan and his love for you.
Istighfar,Salawat and Hasbun Allah hu Wanimal Wakeel is a big deal. So recite it but the point is when you recite it,don’t recite it to just increase the number count or just go on reading it..Think of every word you say carefully and you will realise its Allah letting you have his words on your tongue. Again its only because of his love you are remembering him.
Tahajjud..waking up in Tahajjud is a blessing. A personal invite from the Almighty, my dear! Its not something everyone can get a chance of. When Allah makes you open your eyes in the midst of night and you go and make wudu with the cold water, your sins are getting washed away. When you go and lay your prayer mat, the angels gather around you. When you pray, Allah is close to you. When you raise your hands in prayer, he smiles. Its him,Allah the Almighty.
One thing I have realised in my life is whenever I remember Allah it’s only because he has allowed me to. If I am guided its only because he wants to guide me Alhamdulillah. If he made me a muslim and helped me find Islam its because he wants me to be in Jannah. Its Allah. We humans are capable of nothing.
Agar Allah ki rehmat na hoti toh aaj hum sab gumrah hote.
Its Shaytan. Your own nafs. Let me tell you something from my personal experience..when you try to get close to Allah and remember him more, shaytan tries to distract you. He will make you get waswase, lead your nafs towards something wrong and make you think like Allah isn’t close to you or listening to you and Istigfar and Constant remembrance of Allah is the cure of this.
Don’t lose hope. Don’t step back. Increase your good deeds and Dhikr. In sha Allah, Allah will help you and bless you! He will never let you be alone and will always look after you! He loves you! He wants you to know He loves you! May Allah bless you with the best in this world and hereafter!
JazakAllah Khair for thinking of me and asking me about this. It helped me clear my points too and think about Allah and his greatness again. May Allah reward you abundantly and help you!
Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله:
"One of the signs of someone who truly knows Allāh is that they don't grieve over what they lose, nor do they become overly happy with what they gain. This is because they see everything as temporary and fading away, recognizing that in reality, they are just like shadows and illusions."
[Madarij al-Salikin | 3/318]
Shaykh Ibn Uthaymin رحمه الله said:
“It is upon a person to care for the hearts of people. If someone is heartbroken, then strive to relieve it in whatever way you can because this is a great deed, and it is upon a person to care for the people the way he wants to be cared for.”
فتح ذي الجلال والإكرام 11/333
Be so consumed in your love for Allah ﷻ that you’re too busy purifying your own heart to count the sins of others. Care for the ummah and its affairs, yes — but not in a way that blinds you to your own flaws. It’s said that when Majnun was scolded for his madness over Layla, he replied: ‘If your hearts were truly with Allah as mine is with Layla, you wouldn’t have noticed me.’ Let your devotion be so sincere that you’re too focused on your own soul to waste time judging anyone else unjustly.
كلَّمَا تَاهَــــت خُطَاك وَضَـــاقَت دُروبَـك
Whenever your steps are lost and your paths grow narrow,
وَضَـجَّ فُــؤادَك «عُد لڪتابِ رَبّك»
and your heart cries out «return to the Book of your Lord»
فَفِي القَلبِ اضطرِاب لا يثبّتهُ إلا القُرآن ..
For in the heart there is a restlessness that nothing can steady except the Qur’an…
﴿ كَذَٰلِكَ لِنُثَبِّتَ بِهِ فُؤَادَكَ ﴾
We sent it in this way to strengthen/steady your heart 25:32
You will never find true peace until you submit.
And real submission only happens when you surrender in matters that go against your desires and feelings.
It’s easy to submit when something already aligns with your nafs — but the test of true submission is when you oppose your nafs and say, “Allah knows, and I do not.”
Some exhaust themselves searching for loopholes and strange opinions to suit their wants — while others simply hear and obey. They humble their ego, restrain their desires, and offer them as a sacrifice, declaring:
أَسْلَمْتُ لِرَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ
“I have submitted to the Lord of the worlds.”
