doctor who is a show that everyone watches 89% in their head because literally no one in charge of it has kept any semblance of continuity from episode to episode since its creation so you get to play a chose your own adventure game to deduce every characters motivations and backstory based entirely off of things you want to believe are true and canon at any given moment like... do i think that the master had drums in their head? yes and no. do i think that the doctor is half human? yes and no. do i think that the war doctor exists? yes and no. and it literally changes nothing because mostly the show is a very internal experience for everyone watching like… my version of doctor who will never be the same as any other fan of the show…so how beautiful is it that we all unanimously came to the conclusion that the doctor and the master are fucking? we found love in a hopeless place 🫶

watching this show makes you think “maybe i should rewatch x files and star trek.” but those are demons. i can’t watch all three i’d just turn into a 12 year old again.

it’s like. there is a fundamental misunderstanding between them that makes things Very Difficult. to the master the doctor ignores them humiliates them denies them despite them being what they feel is vulnerable open and honest with him. To The Doctor he DOES love them and it’s very obvious internally for the doctor that he loves them but he feels it’s his responsibility to deny himself so he does but he still Sees Them. he still Wants them still admires them and for the doctor that’s nearly as bad as giving in? so it’s kind of like they’re both showing their hand but they’re both so humiliated about it that they can’t realize the other person is doing the same

i LOVE characterizing what the doctor and the master have going on as the doctor being unfaithful to his partner (companions) (morals) for his ex that he just Can’t Quit lol. there’s a doctor master lips of an angel amv in my head rn. and a need you now amv. i’m laughing so hard just picturing it dude. i like to imagine as well that every companion is just like “he’s getting drunk staring into the middle distance and experiencing guilt like he’s a 15 year old catholic girl for reasons he refuses to elaborate on again”
