Hi! my blog is mostly Xena: Warrior Princess posts; occasionally other random things

I’m also deeply obsessed with Enheduanna. If you have any thoughts, please tell me! I’m always going to want to talk about her

I also love plants very much.

Imagine trying to convince your wife, who is close to a decade older than you and just had a baby, that maybe living in the village where you are the queen and everyone loves you and there’s a lot of genuinely good work to do is a better idea than traveling around the world fighting people with your little baby and she just looks like you like you suggested the most absurd thing in the world. I have a lot is sympathy for Gabrielle

Top Femslash Ships Bracket - Round 2 Side 1

This poll is a celebration of fandom and fandom history; we're aware that there are certain issues with some of the listed pairings and sources, but they are a part of that history. Please do not take this as an endorsement of anything included in the bracket, and refrain from harassment.

I love Warrior Nun but Xena is Xena

I wish more recipes with anchovies loved anchovies as much as I do. I usually just eat them plain but it was looking for fun recipes and all of them began with “don’t worry! This doesn’t actually taste like anchovies!” I have solved this dilemma by developing the most amazing snack ever. It is a potato chip or Pringle with an anchovy on top and covered in lemon juice. It is indescribably delicious.

Lesbian/bisexual characters with stigmata*

spoilers for all the media mentioned (generally relating to character death)

  • Xena from Xena: Warrior Princess (shot in the side with an arrow in the second episode, bleeding from hands (and possibly feet? I need to rewatch) leading up to her crucifixion, several head injuries that I could probably count if I did better research). Xena is an intentional Jesus allegory, as evidenced by her crucifixion, resurrection in a tomb, exceptional healing skills, and many other aspects of her character, but the only stigmata the creators gave her intentionally are the hand/foot ones.
  • Lexa kom Trikru from The 100 (shot through the side, hand cut open in fight with Roan (maybe this doesn't count but I'm counting it). Lexa is not, to my knowledge, an intentional Jesus allegory, and none of her stigmata are intentional.
  • Ava Silva from Warrior Nun (literal crown of thorns, cutting open her hand to distract Beatrice and that girl in the bar, and I also think the divinium injuries all over her body in the finale could be equated to lash marks) (potentially more that I forgot). This character is one of the most intentional Jesus allegories on this list, in ways that I am not going to describe because it's pretty much just the plot of the show and almost all of the characters are involved in some way. It would take a much longer post than this, and there are so many great ones out there that I'm not going to try to summarize it. The divinium wounds and hand injury are not framed as intentional stigmata.
  • Gideon Nav (The Locked Tomb series) (side wound/speed holes) This character is a Jesus allegory, as evidenced by (double spoiler alert! I'm serious) being the child of God, dying as an act of sacrifice on a metal spike, resurrecting after three days of Harrowhark knowing she's dead and probably more that I am forgetting. As far as actual stigmata go, she doesn't have many, but they can be safely assumed as intentional. It feels wrong to not include her, even though this isn't a lesbian/bisexual Jesus allegory list.
  • Harrowhark Nonagesimus (The Locked Tomb series) (what am I even saying at this point but the lobotomy is technically a head wound, so what the hell. Additionally, she has a hand wound: cutting off her finger for the soup) This character is probably not an intentional Jesus allegory. I can never be sure with this series, though. I will tentatively label this as unintentional.

*full or partial bc even in religious history a 'full' set is not a requirement, and there is a slight lack of clarity on what the 'minimum' would be. Also, stigmata are generally spontaneous, whereas these injuries are almost all sustained in battle, and none of them come from deep faith in Jesus Christ, so you could definitely argue that they are not 'real' stigmata. This is because I am looking at stigmata either used intentionally as a literary device or coincidentally because I think it's interesting or funny. I do not intend for this to be a religious analysis. I have linked my source for basic definitions and criteria.

Xena Warrior Princess 3x18 Fins, Femmes and Gems

I love their perfect relationship era right between the violent divorce and the “our love will doom you so I need to leave you or at least be all tortured about it”

High school is not a thing to miss but I will miss talking to my theology teacher about lesbian tv shows bc she has really interesting opinions about Yellowjackets and also would occasionally say things like ‘I love shows about strong women who go around beating everyone up’ and I think we really bonded over that one.
