Something different than my usual content today: I’ve caught up with the most recent episodes of “The Pitt” this weekend after hearing medical professionals praise the show. When I started I didn’t expect to feel seen that much tho:

I don’t talk about it a lot online as I mostly just post my silly art, but I’m a med student and happen to be autistic. I recognize a lot of myself in Mel and I’m happy that while she’s socially awkward and sometimes needs a break, she’s not infantilized by the staff and she’s competent on top of that. While I’m more extroverted than she is, I still hope to balance being neurodivergent and being seen as a competent and empathetic person one day. Seeing a character who seems to be able to do both is special to me (even if she herself hasn’t been called autistic in the show … yet).

I’m always on the lookout for good autism representation, and I think because mine and Mel’s background are so similar she’s my favorite one yet. So here’s a drawing of her from a scene in Episode 9.
