JB's dump

@jb-nonsense / jb-nonsense.tumblr.com

Yo this is where I put the fandom stuff I do. This relates to gaming screencaps/gifs, fanfic, and fanart. Usually it'll be 100% self indulgent gaming stuff with other stuff sprinkled in. I accept writing requests for my OCs. AO3

JB's Pinned Post

Good day, this is my blog where I post my various media interests. I write fic, I make gifs, and I draw fanart. Most of these require on my mood. My main focus at the moment is Baldur's Gate 3, but you'll find a sprinkling of other media, such as Dragon Age or Star Wars sometimes on here, as well as non-fandom related posts. I also like cats.

Lots of Canon x OC here as well as OC x OC. That's all I'm telling you. Follow and find out.

tbh I really dislike how aphobia tends to be discussed whenever there's some kind of incident that makes it visible to general society. The most common response seems to be some variation of "why would anyone hate asexual/aromantic people, they aren't even doing anything" and it just always sits wrong with me. It paints such a passive picture of our existence and feels like a comment influenced by the level of invisibility that aspec people have in society. Why would you be annoyed by someone who is practically invisible? Just go back to ignoring their existence, it's easy!

But despite the invisibility, aspec people are actually doing quite a lot of things that will piss off queerphobic, right-wing and religious people (and hell, even left-wing people). And the most obvious point is that we are actively not performing heterosexuality the way they want us to. People who's entire world view is "cis men and women should be in monogamous, heterosexual marriage and have (white) babies" are not going to lean back and say "oh but those asexuals and aromantics are fine". They will also hate our guts, and they will come up with all sorts of reasons, including insinuating we're all secretly into bestiality, or mentally ill, or not human, or attention seeking children. It's just plain old queerphobia, and like all queerphobia, there's no inherent logic to it which you can worm your way out of by "not doing anything".

And like, there's a lot more that aspec people do which people hate. Raising awareness about amatonormativity? People feel attacked, they hate it. Asexual people having sex? Or not having sex? People hate it! Aromantic people being in (seemingly) romantic relationships? People fucking hate it! Aromantic people having sex? Ohh people hate that!!

I guess the existence of aphobia can be confusing when you haven't spent much time thinking about asexuality and aromanticism, but in the end, these are identities that aren't heteronormative and they will be hit with the same or similar bigotry as any other queer identity. I just get tired of this response after seeing it recycled for 10 years without ever seeming to go any further.

Hey guys let me tell you about advance fee scams

I hope y'all are familiar with these in this day and age, especially my artists out there, because they're incredibly common.

About half an hour ago I posted a drawing and tagged it #artists on tumblr, and very quickly received this comment.

My scam radar went off immediately, due to the generic blog name and lack of any emotion in the comment, but I decided it might be an entertaining venture so I dmed them. They asked for a drawing "of these", and sent me a random selfie. I got the details and told them it would be $15, and they promptly offered me $300. At this point I know it's a scam, but I play along for funsies and give them my paypal. Shortly, they send me this image for "confirmation" (I blocked out my email)

And they began to insist that I checked my email. I looked in my spam folder and found the following email.

This is fake. This is not a thing. And the "you're to refund the $200.00 back" is the scam. They send vaguely official-looking emails at you to "prove" that they sent you the money, then have you send them $200 (or however much the scam is for). Then, surprise surprise, you're out $200.

I continued to play along for a bit, and in the second email "Paypal" told me that I had to refund the $200 before they could "credit the $300 to my account", along with these lovely threats.

And yeah, it's silly. But it's not silly if you don't know and get scammed. So. Spread, please! And thank you very much to @mlaurel for the opportunity to get these screenshots.

This is a variation on a much older scam that often results in the victim being out money and also out whatever they were selling. It goes something like this:

- victim posts an item for sale on craigslist or w/e

- scammer contacts asking if a check is ok

- scammer then asks if they can write a check for more than the agreed-upon price and for the seller to give them the overage back as cash, often with some excuse about it being an out-of-state bank, they don't have a card and need some cash for something else, or whatever.

- scammer gives check, gets cash and item, and bounces

- guess what the check does, too

ANY kind of structure where you supposedly get money but have to give some of it back to someone should twig your scam radar, frankly.

Reblogging because some people need to refresh their scam radar, or start building theirs. I see far too many people fall for traps, and don't dare say for a second "this will never happen to me" because all it takes is a momentary lapse in judgement.

love how people seem to think sexual attraction = sex drive/libido

no, no it does not

lucanis dellamorte isn't straight.

he didn't gift viago a knife because he looked up to him, wanted to just be friends, or reward him for a job well done.

he wasn't confused until he met your female rook. about his sexuality or sex in general for that matter.

lucanis dellamorte quite literally walked in on an orgy while on a job in tevinter. you know, the famously hedonistic tevinter imperium. he worked there a lot.

and by worked, i mean killed. he kills people for money.

he's not some uwu smol bean cinnamon roll who must be protected from the world and do only straight missionary sex for the rest of forever.

I believe instead of taking the husband's last name, as to show the system of patriarchal stuff or whatever, since we used names as identifiers...

the surname taken by a couple should be the surname least common. we have the databases to see the name ranks. let's use them for good.

There's not enough content with masc Lucanismancer Rooks. If you've got a male Rook or a nonbinary Rook, reblog this with photos and tell me about them!!

hello this is Ogden Thorne. I originally made him to play into the Sad Blond Human Man Trope that's usually a companion but made him the hero of this game. He was from a landed gentry family from Starkhaven but was sent to a Circle when he was 12. When he was 20, he was recruited to be a Warden. He eventually had a rivalry with the First Warden because too many people were talking about him taking over after the First Warden went on his Calling. Then the events of the game and he is 37.

As for Lucanis, he was more focused on getting the job done, but he started to catch feelings during the shopping trip. Because of how attentive Lucanis was to other people on the team. Ogden hadn't really had that in his life, so it was endearing to him.

There's more but this is just a basic summary for you!

I do not like the calendar for VG I saw someone made (staring on 1 Wintermarch?? No no let's not be basic)

So I am going to make one where Solas's ritual is on All Soul's Day, the holiday between Solace and August, because he's a dramatic guy like that

This is based on the design of Arlathan's autumn look, as well.

Hey if you're in the US, call your representatives to save your libraries, especially if you're in a right leaning state like I am. We're on the chopping block and if they take out libraries, everything else tends to fall after that

I have surgery on my wrist next Wednesday and I'm so excited to be able to draw and write without pain!!!
