clumps of themes: mid-winter's daydream

From Bart Beaty's Twelve Cent Archie :

Here, I have pointed to a "Creepy fixed smile" trilogy, I guess gets a bit more variation for the third part starring Veronica. Also note the "broken furnace brings out state of undress" stories -- the last variation probably a product of writer change. Pick up any random issue of Betty and Veronica through the sixties and you will see a story a year or so later working the same premise but characters flipped sometimes with personality differing results and sometimes not -- and that continues on a tad through the next decades. Continuing the trend into this century -- Reggie and Archie daydream in the dead of winter about the sunshine of beachlife.

There could be something in Reggie playing himself up as a stud on the board with every girl thus clamouring for him where Archie crashes and burns, though naturally comforted by Betty and Veronica. But then we are shoved back to about the same narrative.

All right. So Prof Flutesnoot somehow knows or can guess the basis of Reggie's daydream more So than Miss Grundy with Archie, even as the dream tossed at Archie better fits Reggie -- and to a degree vice versa. (Miss Grundy did once puncture an Archie daydream by having him picture her wearing one.) Reggie has a stated history of this somehow.

Yes Ma'am. Yes sir. Now, the voting subjects getting taught.

And the stories end with skiing. Oddly another chapter in Beaty's book.

Covering Jughead's feet becomes a must -- the initial one was largely sold in a spinner rack that would have obscured the bottom of the cover, where the digest cover would have largely been on full display as an impulse purchase item in a supermarket checkout line. You don't want to see Jughead's feet popping out at you as you buy tonight's dinner ingredients.

eSims for Gaza is facing constant eSim shortages.

They get over a thousand requests for connection a day, but their email inbox is regularly sitting at 300-500 eSims. With the bombardment of Rafah and continual internet blackouts, the need for more eSims is particularly urgent.

Even if you have already sent an eSim or donated to an eSim donation drive, there is more you can do. The team is calling for people to campaign in their communities to help spread the word about eSims and encourage donations.

You can help by printing out posters and putting them up in local businesses, on telephone poles and notice boards, or wherever people are likely to see them.

[ID: Poster headed “eSIMs for Gaza” with an illustration of a red poppy, a QR code, and a link to tinyurl.com/gaza-esims; copy reads “Sending eSIMs is an immediate, concrete way to help Gazans on the ground. Scan below to learn how you can get involved.” End ID]

(For a black and white flyer on A4 / 8.5 x 11" printer paper, just print out the black and white poster: the extra white margin space won't matter.)

Or make your own poster, pamphlet, or protest sign with one of these QR codes:

"Cheryl Blossom's here at the beach, wearing a couple of band-aids she calls a swimsuit..." We all know from Cheryl's first appearance how little she cares for swimsuits.
