I got to the part in The Kingdom of Ice audiobook where we find out Melville is alive and I got the WEIRDEST looks on the street when I started cheering 😂 The fact that Hollywood hasn’t made movies about half these expeditions is insane.

What's fascinating to me is that S1 of The Terror has become a legitimate classic with an insanely dedicated fan base that's only gotten bigger in the 6 years since it aired and we STILL can't get anyone to give us more polar movies or TV shows.

We are insane and we have money, please give us the goods!

I've been wanting to do a full-crew Endurance illustration for a long time, and finally the gang's all here! 28 men, dogs and cat all accounted for, with every crew member referencing either a photo of them or a story about them. It's a little over two years since I first read Lansing's Endurance and I couldn't be happier to still be researching and drawing these guys :)

seeing people on reddit give each other theeee most unhinged recommendations for books on the franklin expedition / polar stuff in general is dealing me damage in real time. yeah sure erebus by palin is "the best book yet on the franklin expedition" should we all kill ourselves

#OKAY so maybe there IS an audience for the adventure nonfiction readers advisory article I've been thinking about writing for a while now#there's clearly a need#people are out here recommending the worst possible intro books and they need my help whether they realize it or not#anyway. please don't make erebus your first book about the franklin expedition.
