“The power can be wielded for both union and destruction”
he lifts his hand between us as we sit cross legged facing each other, swirls of light surround his hand, swirling around and around.
“It is neither a gift nor a curse to be able to wield it”
he moves his hand past the edge of the raft we’re sitting on and over the water, until the tips of his fingers reach a wilting pond flower. The swirling light flows from his fingers into the flower until it stands tall again.
“It is much like consciousness. The ability to perceive ourselves can lead to great turmoil, but it can also lead to great joy”
he retracts his hand from the flower now, the swirling light around his hand rescinding as he finally turns back to look at me.
“Do you see what I’m saying?”
“I do”
“Say it, I need to see that you mean it, that you understand”
“I have to choose”
“Yes. You have to choose. Both joy and turmoil, good and bad, union and destruction, they are all equally possible. So you must choose one and follow it, otherwise the choice will no longer be yours”
