element of magic vs element of magic!!

quick colour blocking and sketch. how would a Celestia of thousands of years ago react to a bunch of her (supposed) subjects rejecting her commands and defending a tyrannical (albeit depressed) discord?

WELL

I imagine that, similar to how twilight is a prodigy of magic in the modern age, Celestia was the same back in her prime. the key difference between the two is that twilight wanted to learn everything, while Celestia and Luna were forced to prioritise and develop combat magic over everything else due to how violent the world was back then

idk if anyone remembers that post on tumblr abt a what if situation, with Fluttershy returning to the past and having to befriend pre-stone discord in order to go home, BUT……

the mane 6 ends up somewhere due to an Magical Incident!! Wowie!!

is this their timeline’s past? Who knows! Have they accidentally dimension hopped to the next universe over? ¯_(ツ)_/¯

All they know is that they’ve wound up in an era of Equestria that’s under the rule of discord, while their once peaceful princesses are waging both a civil war against him, and a first contact war with the countries around Equestria in order to maintain their country’s border

things are going Down

twilight is now a third alicorn that Celestia and Luna are very interested in. fluttershy desperately wants her highly traumatised and distant best friend back. dash and aj are very quickly becoming legendary heroes. and rarity and pinkie pie are single hoofedly making world peace a viable option

rated pvp duo extraordinaires, discord and fluttershy!! he loves his pocket healer very very much (almost too much), and flutters is just happy to help him enjoy the game

discord is 100% a toxic alt junkie. he has a million and one characters everywhere that are every class-race combo known to man bc he gets bored easily

he does love playing feral druid w flutters the most tho, bc he likes the obscenely bright colours that troll druid forms get and he likes calling themselves ‘the cat gang’

fluttershy plays exclusively Druid bc she’s only got the time to play one class, and so she chose the class that lets her play all 4 different roles at once. also. animals!!

she’s also surprisingly good at pvp, who knew!!

the mlp gang plays world of warcraft!! Combining my two godforsaken special interests together yayyy

after the events of the series, with everyone spread out across equestria, they all decide to dedicate themselves to one night of gaming a week to hang out! They decide to play spike’s latest obsession: world of warcraft

twi plays a pandaren arcane mage bc she likes that they’re trying to preserve their history, as well as their harmonious and neutral way of life. the mage part is very obvious

flutters is a highmountain Tauren resto/guardian druid! taurens are chill and gentle and very spiritual, and she likes the big moose horns she gets from the allied race version

pinkie is a goblin!! a goblin outlaw rogue who somehow managed to replace the in game pistol shot with her party cannon and, to this day, none of her friends figured out how she did that. she chose gobby bc they match her crackhead vibe and her gluttony for finger foods

aj is ye olde classic combo of Tauren Prot/Arms warrior from thunder bluff! unlike the others, she didn’t have much of a reason why she chose that race. She just liked how tall and big they are, and thought the bull horns would work well with her hat. Hint: they do!!

The rest are playing alliance!! Dash, Spike, Rarity and the princesses coming soon……. Maybe…..

unicorns!! specifically, rarity!!

in the polar opposite direction as pegasi, i think that unicorns would envision 'beauty' being decided by either how magically gifted you are. or, in rarity's case, how close you are to looking like a de-winged alicorn!

more than pegasi or earth ponies, i think that unicorns would hold the alicorns in extremely high regard, and set the majority of their beauty standards up against them. a unicorn is attractive based on:

1) how tall they are

2) how powerful they are, and

3) how distinctly their colouring sets them apart from the crowd while still looking clearly like a pony.

as a rare white unicorn w an incredibly stark purple/blue mane, rarity has the third in spades, along with the first due to her ancestral relation to felines.

while not having the sheer magical power of twilight, rarity has incredibly refined control that lets her levitate a large amount of different objects without ever making a mistake. i.e, controlling needles, spools, measuring tapes, and bolts of fabric while using the sewing machine at the same time.

this is all to say. the world is very very lucky that rarity became a seamstress instead of a model, bc the world would've been extremely screwed!!

rarity had a bit of a wild youth in her teen years. she subscribed to the philosophy of 'work hard, party hard', and probably still would be if her friends weren't so allergic to canterlot!! one day she'll get fluttershy and applejack into a nightclub, mark her words!!

i like to imagine Pegasus as a chimera race like griffons, hence the good relationship between the two of them

griffons would be a carnivorous chimera of predatory birds and cats. Pegasi would be a herbivorous variant between ponies, birds, and cats

I feel like the other two pony races would find the pegasi vaguely off putting bc of that. Pegasus would look very different from each other, and unicorns/earth ponies would struggle to see where the griffon starts and the pony begins

Fluttershy is likely seen as rather undesirable by other pegasi bc of the fact that she just looks like a winged pony. She doesn’t look particularly unique, and she isn’t a strong flier or powerful in general, so other pegasi would probably rate her a tentative 3 at best, and that’s only bc her lion eyes are insanely wicked

however, the other races would think she’s insanely stunning bc of that. They’d consider her ethereal and almost angelic, and that’s definitely one of the reasons she’d be hiding out in the fringes of ponyville. She’s either mocked in the sky or stared at in the towns/cities, so there’s rlly just no winning

they’re consuming all of my waking hours. a bunch of scenes I’m envisioning in my head but can’t seem to actually write down in my fic

the idea is that, while a pony’s entire existence was required to power the spell, it’d only take this universe’s discord and another universe’s discord to have the magical power required. Other discord is totes down bc primordial spirit afterlife sounds wild and he’s bored as hell anyway

she wakes up and miss maam has been turned completely to stone. she doesn’t have the need to eat or sleep or anything, and she doesn’t have any sense of sensation. she can hear and see, but doesn’t feel or smell anything. She’s able to talk but only barely, and her voice fails more often than not.

her body is almost wholly stone, except for the magic that holds her together. it’s an incredibly strong magic that doesn’t seem to diminish— which is rlly good, bc the moment she’s not stone, the infection will finish running its course and it’ll be a ✨shitshow✨

might tweak the design more as I fiddle around with this!! For now, I think the stone skin and the forget-me-note are pretty integral parts of her design

a vague idea. An au where, after the infection spread, discord only had the power to snap it out of existence by combining his own pool of magic with another entity that had just as much power- which, in this Equestria, doesn’t exist. The only other alternative was siphoning the magic out of enough creatures to amass a similar equivalent- which would’ve wiped out the entire nation.

instead, twilight came up w the idea of siphoning the magical potential out of one pony, but across every currently existent multiverse- which is the equivalent of infinite power, due to there being infinite possibilities. However, it comes at the cost of erasing one pony completely out of existence

all of them were willing to sacrifice themselves, but everyone had someone relying on them— except for Fluttershy. Her parents, much like the others, had died early to the infection, and her brother is plenty able to take care of himself, unlike the young foals and children that rely on her friends. Plus, already at risk of turning due to recently being bitten, she’s the most reasonable one to sacrifice since she’ll die anyway

they do it. discord looks her in the eyes as he snaps his claws. and then she’s gone.

Except, she wakes up.

fluttershy is an ancient oath paladin creatively named shyflutter, who is the last worshipper of Entropy, God of Change, and she effectively makes her entire group immune to magic

princess luna is the goddess of moon and night, and patron of hopes, dreams and creativity. her eyes are closed bc she’s experiencing ppls dreams even while conscious and walking around

princess cadence is a toss up atm. She’s the ruler of the crystal empire FOR SURE!! but I don’t know if she should be a god who willingly abandoned her divinity to be w shining armour, or if she’s this AUs version of Helen of Troy.

I’ve spent the better half of today world building an entire campaign for two ponies, a dragon, and a draconequus to enjoy. I don’t even spend this much time prepping for my own weeks sessions YIKES
