Oh, hiiii! It was about time I made an official introduction to my blog!

  • I'm Kaufmann, but you can call me Kauf! I'm a writer on ao3, an avid fic reader and a pianist!
  • I like to reblog some of my favorite fandoms content, like PJO, Batfam and TUA on this blog and share my fics. (feel free to send me writing prompts and headcanons from the fandoms I'll list below, I'd love a challenge!)
  • I'm also open to fic colabs and friendly chat. You have my permission to remix, translate, make podfics and/or fanarts out of my works but please tag me when posting here on tumblr. You can also post on ao3 using the "inspired by" or gift feature. (do not post content based on my works out of ao3 and tumblr)

  • I go by Kaufmann on AO3. Here are some things that I've written:
The Umbrella Academy
  • Absence → A remix fic I wrote for @tua-masked-author based out of @littlerit's amazing work, The Time Traveler's Life. It's Klaus pov of his 14th birthday and Five's multiple appearances. Angsty.
  • If Only → An AU in which Patch didn't notice Five's van across the street and Cha-Cha got tired of waiting so she kills Klaus on S1E4.
  • Bubble Thoughts → Another @tua-masked-author entry, an older one this time. It's a post-S3 fic in which Klaus reflects on his father's betrayal and his actions in that season. Luther helps him cope.
  • I can die when I'm done. → Written for @tua-masked-author first edition! It's a missing scene fic from when Klaus was locked in that tiny motel closet in S1 when Hazel and Cha-Cha left to blow up Meritech. Character study, internal monologue. Lots of Angst & Hurt/No Comfort.
  • The Bargain → An old wip that I really should pick up again. It's an AU in which the Handler decided to use Five's love for his siblings against him and uses Klaus as a hostage to get Five to work for her on S1E5. TW: SA.
DC Batman
  • 'Cause you all try to keep me down → Black Mask kidnaps Red Hood and Red Robin and Jason is forced to watch Tim get tortured by the man who hates him the most. This fic was written for @febuwhump 2024. TW: Whump & electric shock torture.
  • resigned. → A drabble in which I explore how sick and tired Jason is of giving the batfamily a chance, only to be disappointed, but he can't not give in, because he deeply cares about them. Character study. Loosely set post Batman and Robin (2011) #20: Red Hood.

I'm absolutely obsessed with Jason Todd at the moment and have so many fic ideas, including a Time Traveller's Wife AU coming up soon. Stay tunned!

Riordanverse (PJO, HOO, TOA)
  • Oh, ho, the mistletoe (is hung where you can see) → Jasico Imprint Soulmate AU written for @jasico-challenges's Bingo Challenges 2024. Between flashbacks from the past, nightmares and christmas presents, Jason and Nico figure out how to tell their friends the truth about their relationship.
  • If you had one more chance → Jasico fic for the Percy Jackson Gift Exchange Autum Equinox 2023. Nico struggles after Jason's death and decides to risk everything to bring him back. Orpheus & Euridyce style.
  • Every Breath You Take → Jercy fic written for the Percy Jackson Gift Exchange Winter Solstice 2022. Percy and Jason are secretly pining for each other. In a road trip across the country, they finally face their feelings, but not withought some angst and jelously in the middle.
  • It Doesn't Matter Anymore → A Jason Grace character study from when he was stuck in the wind prison in TOA. What was he thinking on his very last moments? Angst and Hurt/No Comfort. TW: Major character death & implied/referenced suicide.

I've written fics of some other fandoms like Maze Runner and I Am Not Okay With This but the fadoms above are the ones I'm still active in.

A useful thing to know about AO3 tags is that they're wrangled by humans. A human being will read your tag, understand what it means*, and then connect that tag in the backend system to other tags that mean the same thing (if there are any)

that's why, for example, the tags

  • not beta read
  • no beta
  • no beta we die like men
  • no beta we die like mne
  • no beta we die like [insert character who dies in canon]
  • unbetad
  • unbeta'd
  • unbeta-d
  • un-beta'd

and a million more versions are all searchable and filterable if you just tag one of them. A Tag Wrangler (the job title of a human volunteer who manages AO3 tags) has made sure that AO3 understands that those are all synonyms, so AO3 treats them that way.

When you're tagging your fic, or searching for a fic, or filtering a tag to find or remove works from the list you do not have to use every possible version of a tag. You just need to pick one - unless using more is a stylistic choice you're making, in which case have at it.

*or research what it means - which is why wranglers really appreciate it if you put (OC) behind the name of your original characters so that they don't have to scour every source they can find to see if it's a named background character in canon.

Let's talk about tagging! I feel like many of us need some tips on how to tag on AO3, so follow along to find out some common mistakes people make when tagging their works.

1 - Wrong relationship tag

I feel like we've all been overwhelmed by AO3's interface and what everything meant when we first started posting fics, but I wish people looked up how to tag relationships before posting their work.

What you need to know about this is that relationship tags that have a bar ("/") refer to romantic and/or sexual relationships, and the ones that have an ampersand ("&") refer to platonic relationships such as family, friends, etc.

It affects the readers experience on the site if the writer tags the platonic ship and the fic has those characters in a romantic relationship. I really don't like opening a fic to see that and be immediately disappointed, so please be mindful when putting your relationship tags in.

2 - Cross-tagging

This one also applies to Tumblr. Tagging characters, relationships and other tags that are not important to the story or are secondary and barely appear is not nice and it crowds those tags with fics that don't even feature that character/relationship more than a few times.

I know you are just trying to get more people to see your work, as a writer, I feel that; I always debate with myself which tags are relevant when tagging, but just don't do that, please, the right reader will find your works, but don't crowd unnecessary tags, that disturbs the experience of many readers that have to scroll past dozens of fics just to find one that actually has the character/ship they want in the spotlight.

Blog Introduction

Hello! Welcome to the No More Zero Comments Project! This is a blog dedicated to reducing the amount of fics on ao3 that have no comments at all.

The goal is simple: find fics with no comments, read them, and leave a comment for the author. However, I (this blogs creator) am not in every fandom to ever exist on ao3 so this is not a task I can do alone. That's where you come in!

There are two ways you can do this. One is to go out and find fics with zero comments in your fandoms, and leave a comment. The other is to take a look at the spreadsheet i made with a list of fics i found with no comments and see if there's any fandoms you know. If I did my job right, you should be able to filter it? Who knows, I suck at technology. This spreadsheet will be updated regularly by adding new fics (and removing ones that have now received comments) so there will always be new stuff to see!

So far, the spreadsheet contains mostly fics from @febuwhump collections, as their commentfest is where i got this idea. If you want to submit one of your own zero comment fics for the spreadsheet, you can do so here.

If you read a fic from the spreadsheet and leave a comment on it (or have received a comment on your own fic that is on the spreadsheet), you can let me know here so I can remove it from the spreadsheet (you do not have to do this, I will try to check regularly to see if fics have received comments, but doing it this way will be a HUGE help to me)!

I don't think I hate Nico and Will Solace as a couple, but it's pretty hard to hate a character who you barely know. Oh trust me, I can do it. If I go looking for negative posts, i'm so indecisive that i'd probably enter a temporary hatred phase (before going back to not minding the character, and then having to beg forgiveness). Because I am indecisive, and I can sometimes swing from loving someone to hating them to loving them again.

But legitimately: as someone who pretty much only read PJO and HOO (Skipping the last two books in the TOA series), Will Solace is one of those minor characters I never expect to care much about. Like most of the camp half blood characters who we see very little of, he's just a character I look at without much love in my tone. No offense meant. Please don't take that the wrong way! Let me try to explain.

Will Solace really only shows up twice in the Heroes of Olympus series. Once in the Lost Hero, where he leads Leo to the Hephaestus cabin. And then he suddenly becomes a prominent supporting character for the last 80 pages of the Blood of Olympus. I love Rick Riordan's writing (like 85 percent of the time), but even you can see that this is sort of abrupt. Making a character we barely know become super important just in time for the end of the story makes him feel tacked on at the end. All I really know is that he's blond, reminds nico of jason grace, and he's a healer. Those are the three traits i've picked up on. So now maybe you see my problem?

This is why I prefer Jason and Nico more, I think. Those two at least had some more narratively cohesive bonding. They had their intimate moment when Cupid forcibly outed Nico, and they've been close ever since. Even though they're not in any scenes together in most (if not all) of the Blood of Olympus, they mention each other a lot. There's more of a cohesive build towards romance here.

Will and Nico works (I suppose), but it's abrupt, and it's lacking in any real signs that the two deeply care. I mean… again. Will's only in like the last 80 pages. How do you learn to love someone when they have that little focus? Also, Nico and Jason are outsiders at both Camps. Nico doesn't belong at Camp Half-Blood or Camp Jupiter. Jason doesn't really fit in at either place, too. So they have better parallels to me. Will and Nico don't have as much stuff for me to read into. It's just abrupt and fast and really unexpected.
