Starting a new side blog ( @posts-from-reality-immanent ) for my game writing project. It's primarily for me, as a place to do bits of worldbuilding and reblog stuff I find relevant to my OCs. But if anyone's interested feel free to look, and I'd welcome questions about the setting/characters.

Like why are the tiktokers treating tumblr like some professional ass website you need to do extensive prep before you begin posting on. And the follower farming advice is so fucking funny to me when this is the website where people actively hate getting new followers

voice acting as a profession is so funny because you'll see someone being like "voice actors need to be paid better! like [obscure person you've never heard of]" and you're like "oh I wonder who that person is, maybe I've heard them voice a character" and you look it up and it turns out they voice 137 characters in Futurama and 94 characters in The Simpsons and 96 characters in Adventure Time and every one of the My Little Ponies and 27 characters in Arcane and 96 characters in Kim Possible and 4 characters in Phineas and Ferb and 296 characters in Dexter's Laboratory and all of the main cast of Fairly Odd Parents and at least 6 characters in every Pixar movie and almost every animated depiction of Superman and 473 SpongeBob characters and they've been in every installment of Mass Effect and Halo and The Elder Scrolls and Fallout and Call of Duty and they were in Star Trek and Law & Order and they were 12 characters in the MCU and they also invented t-shirts and the colour green and they got paid a sum total of $3.27 and a mothball for all of it combined. then you go burn down David Zaslav's house with him inside

someone actually studied the falling Rick Roll rate for their Ph.D dissertation recently and published the paper
okay but this made me wonder if there was actually any academic literature on rickrolling and YES THERE IS this is a paper about rickrolling WITHIN academic literature. As in, studies that attempt to rickroll the people reading them. Best part is no one is going to believe me and click that link even though itโs 100% true.

Genuine question, but how do you deal with knowing itโs impossible to create anything truly original? Iโm a huge sci fi and horror fan, I love fucked up concepts and situations, but whenever I think Iโve come across a new concept, I eventually find something that touches upon the same or similar idea, and I lose all motivation to write. Like your story the fluid. I found it poignant and funny, but I just found โhalf a lifeโ by kid bulychev, and it sounds quite similar
Well I've listened to enough punk bands to know that almost everything has been done before but if you have enough fun with it it doesn't matter. I'm certainly not trying to be truly original, just to do what I like in a way that's fun for me. Sometimes I try to challenge myself to include a different kind of perspective, or an emotion I don't usually try to evoke, or to include an observation or a feeling, or to make something funny out of something that's not, but I'm not trying to think a thought that no one's ever had before. Maybe if I'm lucky it'll happen. Sometimes a wrinkle in your brain will yield something you didn't see coming. But I don't think you can try for it.
